This is how close Oates was when he stopped that penalty kick from going out..
Moga's try definitely the wrong call, he did lose control of the ball but it didn't come into contact with the ground. You can't see if Walker touches the ball . Therefore on field decision shoul remain.insuficient evidence to overrule.
I think the one frustrating thing is Oates will take a hit up every set regardless of if Boyd passes it to him or not, but we all know that Boyd has a strong kick return in him... so it's frustrating to see him just dump it off.
It's worse when he wastes time to dump it off
My point was that Boyd can easily take a quality hit up on kick returns instead of waiting for Oates... especially given that Oates will always take a hit up in the set.Boyd does have a good kick return in him, but Oates by far has the better kick return. I really don't see why fans have an issue with Boyd utilizing that to get our sets off to a good start and get a bit of momentum going from the first tackle.
Story,I cannot see that ball touching the ground. It was the right call, unfortunately.
This is the front on shot where he lost control.

And this is the same frame, but a different angle. You couldn't say it doesn't touch Walker at all there.

Slater would've gobbled those 2 balls up imo. Both landed in the Fullback's domain, and Boyd was jogging to the area on both occasions.Terrible choice of words.
Boyd was in everything to open the game and came up with some huge plays to get the Broncos on the front foot. Those two tries weren't on him either, he has to stay in line with Reynolds to cover all options, both those kicks were down to the centre and neither of them got into position. Moga especially had a great catch on that and didn't even try to go for it.
Boyd always hands it off to Oates because Oates is right up there with Mansour in terms of getting the Broncos on the front foot. He'll then go to dummy half and pick up an easy 10-15m to get the Broncos rolling. That's why he was right up there in terms of making the most runs of anybody.
I'm afraid you're clutching at straws in this instance.

That said, that was my main issue with Boyd in this game, and hopefully he will correct that, as other teams will pay attention. Probably a consequence of Boyd defending mostly in the line when the opposition is in our 20.
