The game was still very much in the balance at the time and it was Reyno who wanted to play on.
I understand the logic behind it, but is a win against Canberra worth our captain sitting on the sidelines for potentially 4+ weeks due to broken ribs? Not in my book. Even with a loss, we would have been on 18 points and only 2 wins outside last years top 8.....with half a season to play.

As it stands, we are 1 win outside that mark......yeeeeww!

It's not tiddlywinks they're playing out there. Every team in the comp lifts their game when they play us, we need to be prepared to cop this sort of shit if we want to get to the top.

One thing is for sure The Broncos will never get a leg up in anything connected to the NRL nor do we wish it.

Not training: Reynolds, Oates, Paix, Haas, Carrigan
Training: Turpin, James, Willison, Gamble, Piakura, Mariner, Niu, Roberts

My team assuming Haas, Reynolds, Oates & Staggs play:

01 Martin
02 Oates
03 Hoeter
04 Staggs
05 Cobbo
06 Mam
07 Reynolds
08 Jensen
09 Walters
10 Haas
11 Capewell
12 Riki
13 Carrigan

14 Hetherington
15 Flegler
16 Palasia
17 Robati

If the "injured" players are actually fit to play, we have a chance with that squad. I can't see Reynolds playing though, meaning Walters to 7 and Turpin to 9.

Edit: If Gamble is fit, Gamble to 7, Walters stays at 9.

I'd be happy to see a Mam/Gamble halves combo with Walters/Turpin sharing the dummy half role. Both 9s incidentally went through the Strom system and will be extra keen to get a result.

Be good if we had Jesse Arthur’s now with farnworth injured

Side I would go with
1. Cobbo
2. Oates
3. Staggs
4. Brenko
5. periera
6. Martin
7. Mam
8. Jensen
9. Walters
10. flegler
11. capewell
12. Riki
13. carrigan ( the sex man )
14. Back up hooker not sure yet
15. kobe
16. robati
17. palasia
We need to make the least amount of changes possible. It's not about winning this game, it's about winning long term. Don't move a guy out of fullback to 6 for a couple of weeks just to put him back at 1 later. If 1 is his position leave him at 1.
If TMM, Staggs, Cobbo all play, and no reason they won't, Tmm plays 1, Staggs in the centres and Cobbo on the wing.
The only guy I would consider moving from his current spot is Billy from 9 to 7 if Reynolds is out, and that's only because Billy is clearly adept at changing between those 2 spots.

A few pics while we wait for our man @GKDonkey to report in

As long as there's not too much movement in the spine I think we have a real shot of winning this game. If Reyno is cleared to play then the only change would be the 14. Jersey. Lee or Hoeter can cover Herbie's spot and we have the depth in the middle to cover Haas if he sits out. Wilison and Piakura have been in decent form since their returns to Qcup so that forward depth should stay solid throughout the rest of the season.

Staggs and Capewell are big ins for this game, hopefully they keep TC in the 17 he's been great his last 2 games.

Gamble back training WTF? stress fractures can be made worse pretty quick.
2 weeks off seems too soon. Probably won't play for a couple more but still.

Might be willing to put his hand up and risk it for the 1 game knowing that Reynolds will likely be back on the other side of the rep round (if he isn’t fit for Storm game).

Gamble is watching his 6 jersey slip away due to Mam and I think if there is a halves spot opening in this match you will struggle to hold Tyson back from running out.

I agree... no point shuffling the chairs to account for short term injuries. However for Herbie's injury we need to think what's best for the rest of the season, because he wont be back.

Whatever they go with isn't a stop gap for a couple weeks... it may even be how we line up next year if Herbie pushes towards a fullback spot next year.

Is it Brenko playing on the left (his non-preferred side) or should they look at moving Cobbo to left centre and bringing JP onto the wing?

Also noting that without Herbie we are also losing about 150m a game in hitups... will Brenko pick up the slack??

I'm pretty comfortable either way, as I think Brenko brings solid defence regardless of which side of the field he's on and whilst he may not get the flick passes away on the left, I think he will still be solid at putting his winger away.

For Cobbo putting him at left centre may be his best position and possibly long term position, provides legitimate attacking spark both sides of the field and Pereira is a very solid wing option.

If Ezra has the literal flu, I can't see him playing this week. Everyone I know who's had it (influenza A) has been knocked around physically for weeks. Second opinions @Kimlo @Nashy

I hope we're not down to Roberts.

Yep. Day 5 of flu for me. I’m struggling to pick up my kid. Everything is too challenging. Ezra is a young man in his prime tho vs me not so much in my prime. So my wife likes to remind me.
