Yep. Day 5 of flu for me. I’m struggling to pick up my kid. Everything is too challenging. Ezra is a young man in his prime tho vs me not so much in my prime. So my wife likes to remind me.
Friend's daughter - 20 yr old - had it. Much worse than covid for her. Went for a blood test to find out what it was because she couldn't believe how sick she was.

The trouble with playing when you're getting over the flu is no one else can tell it's the flu that's knocking you around. Fans will just think you're lazy.

yeah my wife has had the legit flu before and she was bedridden for 2 weeks. she's not a pro athlete but she is fit and active, trains regularly, eats well. shit ***** you up. hopefully mam only has a mild case.

If Ezra has the literal flu, I can't see him playing this week. Everyone I know who's had it (influenza A) has been knocked around physically for weeks. Second opinions @Kimlo @Nashy

I hope we're not down to Roberts.
Yeah I've been knocked around by it as well.

Roberts was one of the first to leave training today, lazy shit

If Walters is at 9 i would have Mozer on bench. Sure its a huge game against one of the best teams but him playing 20-30 minutes is better than Turpin. He will add more spark and speed. Turpin is just too slow to have any impact. Good experience too as he is the future and Turps wont be there next year

I haven't seen it called out here or in the post game, but I was yelling at the TV about Kevvie pulling Reyno off the field. I can't understand why he didn't. He was clearly hindered and in pain after the first tackle. Then he took a kick in clear discomfort. I know it seems fine now in hindsight, no major damage, might be back this week, but come on get him off Kev. It's a long season, we are looking good, no need to risk him unnecessarily.
The call actually came down from Kev and Alf tried to get him off but he wouldn’t go.

I was knocked around by the flu a couple of weeks ago but you'd assume the broncos would be getting them straight onto the antibiotics and getting him to smash the fluids and rest. Add that to his health levels and youth and I don't think it's comparable to any of us on here. He will be right by Friday definetly

Fox Splrts Team Tips. Note they are nearly always wrong lol

Storm
Team Tips: Craig Bellamy said Ryan Papenhuyzen won’t be rushed back in Round 15 unless he is fully fit. If he plays Nick Meaney would shift to the wing with Dean Ieremia or rookieGrant Anderson making way despite his two try debut. Xavier Coates is out for eight weeks with an ankle injury suffered in the Origin opener. Origin star Felise Kaufusi escaped a ban for his elbow to Sam Walker and is free to face the Broncos.

Broncos
Team Tips: The Broncos are sweating on a rib injury to skipper Adam Reynolds, but the halfback is hopeful of playing with a needle against the Storm. Star prop Payne Haas is in doubt with a fresh AC injury to his right shoulder after carrying a similar injury to his left all season. If Haas is ruled out Thomas Flegler would start with Rhys Kennedy or Ryan James coming onto the bench. Herbie Farnworth is set for a long lay-off with a bicep injury, with Kotoni Staggs likely to return from a shoulder injury suffered in Origin to partner Brenko Lee in the centres. Bench hooker Cory Paix is out with a knee injury, with Jake Turpin likely to replace him on the pine. Corey Oates (hand) and Te Maire Martin (ribs) are set to overcome minor injuries to be named. Selwyn Cobbo (rested) returns after his Origin I heroics with Jordan Pereira to make way on the flank despite his try-scoring debut for the Broncos. Maroons star Kurt Capewell will return with TC Robati dropping out.

Under no circumstances would I be playing Reynolds this week, the reality is that this isn't a crunch match, the last thing he needs is a bruising encounter with the grubs from Victoria, with the rep round coming we should wrap him in cotton wool and give him the next 3 weeks off.

Yep, Kaufusi would line him up for sure.

Haha I said this to Riki when talking about Reynolds, he was saying how much it hurts to be tackled with sore ribs, said the last team you would want to play is the Storm with sore ribs

I think Turpin reduced to 30-40mins is different to the Turpin that plays 80mins. Should be more explosive then last time he was in the side.

He isn't ready.

Throwing him up against one of the best teams in the comp when he isn't ready is just not going to work.

My only thought towards letting him play some minutes off the bench is to give him a taste of what the NRL is about. Just so he knows how much of a monumental gap it is jumping from where he currently is. There would be no harder team to come up against than the Storm, especially if we are injury riddled. Give him 15 minutes so that, if he was in any way considering himself a shot at first grade any time soon, he gets a reality check on how much further he needs to develop.

I dare say that if we brought Walsh in off the bench for a game like this, the uppity little shit wouldn't have been believing he's deserving of an immediate first grade spot.

Wasn’t he injured in QCup anyway?

Apart from that being ridiculously optimistic, and antibiotics only targetting secondary infections (pneumonia, bronchitis, etc), he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the squad until he's no longer infectious. Hopefully "flu" is a euphemism for hangover.

Not "nearly always wrong" they are "always always wrong," but this looks like a fairly good guess based on last night's intel. I'd like to see TC retained, even if it means playing Kurt at centre.

If I were coach, my priority would be to lock the Storm out of out goal line through punishing defence. I'd like to see them with the injury toll at the end of the game, not us.
