We Kept melbourne honest for the most part. We are yet to piece together an 80 minute game. Not sure if Hass played? Certainly saw Carrigan out there. Each passing week Hass value goes down.
1 or 2 years ago, i would have thought a 30 point soul sapping flogging.

Stocks are up for Brisbane. Melbourne look on a slow, but definite down. It is about time for a change . Like the real estate market, they have been point skywards forever. The times are a changing.

Our forwards need to take a leaf out of the Storms forwards book and start heading for the ground when they are taking the ball up and get a quick play the ball instead of fighting for ground in the tackle.

Some of the Storm forwards runs most notably Bromwich and Josh King could have been called surrender tackles they hit the ground so fast when near the defensive line.

If the refs aren't going to call them out we need to copy them until they do.

On Adam Gee I don't think he is biased just more like incompetent. The amount of time he allowed the Storm players to hang on in defence was just pathetic and ruins the game for viewers. We want to see free flowing attack not the dour defensive games that normally come from games the Storm are in.

I think it is even more simple than that. We just want to see equal adjudication, not one set of rules for one team and a different set for the other.

Everyone knows you need everything to go right for you on the night in order to get a win against the storm. Unfortunately, the team was up for it but we just never had the calibre of player in the spine to ensure that happened. We also failed to defend well enough when we gave away penalties, this cost us dearly and some of the penalties we gave away were disappointingly soft by our guys.

Having noted this we were also a bit unfortunate to draw the ref we did. The fact we had three successful captain's challenges says it all. I was also dumbfounded when he ignored the touchie who signalled 6 again for us when we were on the attack. I mean the touchie had his flag up and his arm outstretched and so even if his earpiece was faulty he could not have failed to see him. There were more, and besides the NFL style passing that he allowed the storm to use all in all he had a pretty poor game.

Roberts went surprisingly well considering the amount of time he has been out, but he just ran out of gas and this just highlighted the difference in class between the halves. Cobbo and TMM also had nights to forget at the back, but in their defence they were playing on a cold, wet, slippery pitch which was more suited to pig-farming than NRL footy. Hughes' solo effort was a good try but the rest of them came of dodgy penalty calls and forward passes.

So even if you add Papenhousen to their team, we have nothing to fear the next time we meet them so long as we have Reyno, Paix and hopefully Herbie back in the line up.

A decent enough showing by our boys. What's pleasing is we know we can improve at least another 30% against these shits and the 10 point difference can easily be turned around.

Paddy, Tommy and Kobe were all outstanding last night. I was a bit miffed to see Staggs and Cobbo constantly being shepherded towards the sideline. They need to sort that shit out. And Mam is developing at a faster rate of knots than what Tracy Dearjohn is which is very pleasing to see.

The Cows have lost another forward in Cotter who is crucial to their pack. A huge loss for them and our origin chances in Perth. If we have Reyno back I'm predicting a win for us.

Makes sense. While we are busy fighting for that extra metre, the opposition is setting their line already.

I think we played well and competed mostly. The reason they ran over the top of us was basically they had 2 quality halves and a quality hooker. I think with Arey playing, we win that game. As well as Roberts did, he isnt Reynolds.

I'm still in disbelief about the interference the Storm are allowed to get away with, constantly. Even aside from Munster going up early for kicks, the usual escorting of kick chasers, the garbage in the ruck (Storm and Panthers are king at getting 'tangled')...

The blatant one-peeling-off-at-a-time each tackle, even on held calls. Sometimes it was a full 3 seconds after the "held" call before our guys didn't have a hand on them, it was disgusting.

I really noticed the likes of Munster/Hughes interfering with our defensive lines during the game. On kick chases, Storm players were deliberately standing around where their player returning the ball was going to get to before he reached our kick chase defensive line, just getting in the way. They were just getting in the way, being pests, at every possible opportunity. We had kick chasers knocked over multiple times with nothing said. Just niggly garbage stuff that there is no place for. Charge the entire Storm team with 'contrary conduct' not in the spirit of the game FFS.

Touchies missing forward passes is really becoming a blight on the game. I have to wonder if it's deliberate to push the 'technology' angle? Vlandys said in the off-season that they'd trialled some tech and had some others still to trial... Perhaps in some games the touchies are told not to call them to see if the technology being trialled picks it up? I don't know, that just sounds stupid, but I wouldn't put it past this corrupt organisation.

Tui dropped the ball before grounding it for their first try. Forward passes missed. Touchie calls (6 again, high shot on Mam) just ignored. Munster taking the ball out ignored. Shit in the ruck unpoliced. Flegs penalised for getting out of the way. It just goes on and on. My disinterested wife started watching in the 2nd half after me blowing up and even she was scratching her head. They literally got every 50/50 except maybe Hughes falling down before he even ran into the lead runner for our try. Why is an even contest too much to ask for?

After the performance in the last 10 minutes of the previous game, you've got to wonder what impact 3 upset wins to start the round would have had on the game's major sponsors... This game is so fucking hard to support sometimes, honestly.

But all that said, our boys can hold their heads high. They pushed and were competitive for the 80 minutes, missing two key players, and there's a lot to be said for that. The final score wasn't a fair reflection of the game. We have come a hell of a long way and we will deservedly play finals this year. We have the Storm again before the end of the year so will have a chance at redemption. File it away in the memory bank and get ready for the Cows in a fortnight.

It was pretty noticeable how they’d always set a screen at the ruck when they are going for their kicks to give their kickers more space.

At one point Kaufusi stood right at the marker to block him... in front of the ruck and basically cornering him in there with the guy playing the ball.

That honestly can't be legal, but yet it was play on... because storm

Anyone else laugh at the fact we were able to overcall 2 refs calls with the captains challenge?
Or the fact that Mam's try got ruled a no try from 100m away?
Not sure how much more evidence is needed to prove that Melbourne get all the calls.

I think with even just Paix back in that team we go close. We were in the fight but we just looked like we were going to struggle to find points and because we let those 2 quick tries in before half time it was always going to be too hard of a task.

Someone like Paix or even Herbie tend to be able to turn the momentum of the game.
