Mariner as wellCobbo should have gotten a penalty try.
Mariner as wellCobbo should have gotten a penalty try.
This is it, our forwards are terrible, the loss of an Origin front rower in Flegler and also Palasia who Is no mug has crippled us, Baker has been an absolute flop and Jensen just isn't a starting prop good for big minutes. Not sure what the answer is there!
How that wasn’t a penalty try for Cobbo, still scratching my head?
I was wondering about that, should the warriors player have been binned for a professional foul there?Mariner as well
Far from being a Baker fan, but was that also the 28 minutes where the Warriors had about 8-9 sets in a row?Baker had 1 run for 8 metres in 28 minutes… **** me he sucks
Yep. Kev was pretty happy with the performance, which is probably the most worrying thing to come out of tonight..
Listening to what’s coming out of the club, especially Kev, it seems as though they all think it’s just going to click and we are magically going to end up in another grand final.
We are so far away from last years form, and so off the pace of this years top 8. Week on week we are not getting any better.
There was so much wrong with tonight’s performance.
I can’t remember the bunker even mentioning it in any way or even looking. They probably just let it slide because we still scored.I was wondering about that, should the warriors player have been binned for a professional foul there?
Yes, they've just got to get a few things right and then everything will be alright. He was happy with the effort, not the performance.
At least we're paying Billy what he's worth though, amirite? The mam upgrade is what I think will bite us. Watching Mam vs both halves from NZ tonight who are on probably half his wage combined was embarrassing.

Exactly. At least we're paying Billy what he's worth though, amirite?
Or does he play like he's paid?Exactly.
This is the biggest issue for me. Keb accepts mediocrity so long as he can stand up and defend his players. Enabling shit players to do shit player things. He needs to start ripping them in front of cameras, and if they don't like being put on blast to the media, stop being a useless footy player.
Mariner doesn't need to go to the Q Cup to work on his handling. That's what training is for. That's why we have individual coaches for every aspect of the game. I think this is under Darius Boyd's remit. He works with the back 3.He's not accepting the mediocrity, he is forced to accept the situation. Sailor should have been out of the team long ago, and Mariner should have gone to Q Cup to work on his handling. To do that, we'd call on our experienced depth like Hoeter and Pereira to hold the fort. But both are out for the season.
Ripping in to the players without the potential consequence of being dropped will not help. "You idiots need to work on your shit, otherwise... you're still in the 17".

Sailor is something else. Maybe Q Cup is his level, after all. We've certainly had a string of failures at fullback over the years.
Correct. It's easy to understand why he has low run metres during that period, however, Baker is largely to blame for that string of consecutive sets we even had to defend in our own end in the first place because he dropped the ball on his first touch. Other players also contributed to it after the initial drop, but had Baker not given them possession so easily, we likely would have worked our way down to their half, and the Warriors don't get to spend all that time camped on our try line.Far from being a Baker fan, but was that also the 28 minutes where the Warriors had about 8-9 sets in a row?
Early on I thought Mariner was wasted on the wing. That is literally where you put a young centre to incubate while he sorts out his positioning and handling. Staggs says he has some concentration issues, which might explain why passes aren't landing on his chest, or it may be that Kotoni is just as much the culprit if not more. Regardless, these are the kind of drills you practice over and over at training. Or by playing touch after training.Training is very different to in-game situations. But regardless, same situation applies:
Dropping them at training as well? Improve and stay in the lower grades until you get better. Safe hands at training but not in games? Play in the lower grades where the stakes are not as high until it improves.
Doesn't improve? Either drop him, or plan to shift him to centre where he at least doesn't need to contest bombs. In that case, he needs to learn to defend at centre. How? Bingo, Q-Cup.
