PRE-GAME Round 17 - Broncos vs Panthers

This does highlight the rather large elephant in the room due to Covid in that the NRL needs the state leagues back up running or player wise it will be difficult for clubs to recruit new talent.

*EDIT * mind you this probably not the right topic to discuss this in.

With Oates back I'd be keen to see Boyd dropped with Kahu going to fullback but Kahu was so shit he doesn't deserve to stay in the squad either.

Do we think with Gentle now being the official coach, he'll make any line up changes? Or will the status quo continue until a real head coach takes over.
I'd say it's unlikely Gentle would make sweeping changes at this stage, he's just keeping the seat warm for whoever comes in next year and with all the injuries there's not many other players to choose from anyway. Dropping Boyd for the last few games of his career when there's not really anyone better available anyway and we're never going to make the finals seems even less likely.

Spot on. What realistically could he even change anyway when there is essentially an entire playing 17 sitting in the rehab group every week?

Staying with the Storm.
I think that was a good call for both parties. He's really coming into his own this season with more work to do and will probably be close to their forward leader in the next season or two.

I actually genuinely think that Joffa could be really good but I think he needs a change of environment. Maybe a good coach can unlock him at the Broncos even. However, if the Dragons are willing to cover his wage, I am happy for him to go.

We should throw in Milford and Croft too and swap for Vaughn in the process.

That Hodges try. I so miss that combination.

I've said it more times than I can count now: Joffa has exactly ONE role he's quite good at, which is coming on and playing the middle 45-50 minutes of the game off the Bench either side of the Half time break.

Even at Origin level he looked good in that role. He just struggles hopelessly the moment he's asked to even slightly deviate from that role.

Any club, including the Broncos, who can play him in that role and that role alone and not let him drift outside of it will very likely get a really solid return on their investment in Joffa.

Bugger
Had a feeling he would have been really good for us. :(

Nicho Hynes has just re-signed as well with Storm. That's another we can unfortunately cross off our list of potential recruits. They certainly don't lose anyone they really wanna keep do they. Just like us back in the ol' days.
