The spine wasn't shit because of lack of field position or go forward.. Did you even watch the game? FFS open your eyes.

I think the overall sentiment is a little harsh. We essentially had a rookie Queensland Cup pack taking on a bunch of hardened professionals. Then we lose our fullback and centre, placing even more pressure on the forwards to play longer minutes. It's a bit rough to be overly critical of a team for losing continuity and looking a bit all over the shop in those circumstances.
However, the issues with our attack remain the same as they have been all season. The biggest being no depth in the backline when we need it on the attack.
And interesting to see people now critiquing Hoffman. Been saying it for a while with rnabokov, he's a great individual runner of the footy but doesn't have too many strings to his bow. You need a bloke who can ball play from fullback and act as another playmaker in backline movements.
Whitchurch - sensational debut. Tough player. I remember a few years ago, Brisbane's Under 20s played Easts in a trial.. pretty sure he was named on the wing but he tackled this Easts prop (who was built like a brick you know what) in one of the best one-on-one copybook tackles I've seen. Absolutely smashed him Tonie Carroll style.

Just finished watching the replay and the Broncs played as well as you'd expect. That is if you had anticipated a very very strong performance. The Sharks played well. They were well rehearsed with solid structure. When you consider the Broncs lacked that well oiled mechanism the result is pretty close. It's vital to have continuity and the Broncs had plenty of willing talented players. My feeling is that the coach would have very little to complain about.
I never expected a Bronco win as the opposition were always going to turn up and play the same as they had been. Hard tough grinding football. The Sharks had been playing for months with a virtually unchanged side. The truth is if they had not lost the sensational Gardner at the years start they may well be described as an entertaining team with great structure and defence. We got beaten narrowly, by a pretty good side that will be improved by carney and gallen ...no shame for the Broncos in last nights loss. In fact some real highlights.

hopefully griffin has it cemented in his head now that mcguire plays at LEAST 65 minutes a match. hes been a monster this origin period, and showed at the back end of last season that he can go 80 minutes week in week out. another brilliant effort by him.
at one stage i thought we might be able to sneak a victory against all odds, but then the intercept happened and it was shut the gate. unfortunate, but these things happen.
we shouldnt have even been in it with a chance though, so i cant be too unhappy with the effort. no hodges, civoniceva, thaiday, hannant, gillett, te'o, parker, and then we lose hoffman early on and then reed.....was just not our day. excellent match by some of the young guys too.

How grubby are the Sharks? So many high shots, elbows, dirty things in the ruck. Clearly they were instructed by their grub of a coach to "rough up the kids".

LOL.....reliable as always Coxy....at this stage I'm still unsure if you actually mean what you write...if our players put in the excellent work that graham did we may have won. I thought the game was pretty normal for an nrl match. Neither player will have a case to answer. Broncos have nothing to whinge about, whingeing should be for NSWelshmen not bronco fans..
If Graham doesn't get 2 weeks - the same as Te'o - then the judiciary is as corrupt and incompetent as we all thought. Whether or not you think the tackle is bad or not, it's identical, and Te'o got 2 (originally 4!) weeks for it.
Smith is just a thug, and it's high time someone knocked his lights out.

Graham was awesome, and smith was excellent, but they did play pretty dirty. Graham did another 2 or 3 shoulder charges that should've really been penalized, and that upwards punch by smith was just thuggish/cowardly and downright not in the spirit of the game.

I would argue it should be a best and fairest type award...so if you're guilty of foul play or professional fouls during a game you shouldn't be entitled to man of the match (or at least, Dally M votes).
That being said, most man of the match awards are just BS spur of the moment decisions made by journos and commentators who generally have NFI.

And once again I have to take issue with it. Hoffman is in the 3rd full season of his first grade career, and I'd be keen to see his critics have a look at where Slater was at the same stage of his career because I don't think he'd be too much different as far as ball playing goes. It's this little thing called development.
We all know Hoffman has it in him to be an asset in our backline movements - have a look at his 2010 season, and in particular his performance against the Titans as Skilled Park. Chimed in beautifully to help lay on 2 tries for Winterstein in the corner. So it's obvious he has it in him, and I think it could be argued that his struggles in that area this season could be put down to the fact that he is no longer playing outside a bloke called Darren Lockyer who was the undisputed king of timing his outside players to perfection.
Hoffman will get there, he's a bloody good fullback.
No doubt Jeb, but while Hoffman has had niggles most of the year, he's played basically every game, and the spine has been relatively consistent apart from Wallace's few weeks injured, so I would expect that part of his game to be improving by this stage of the year. Hopefully it does in the run to the finals.
