POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Cowboys

It's funny how the Cows fans were so much louder than the Broncs at times at the ground. Felt like their own home game with "Cowboys!" calls. Felt like the refs favoured the Cows. Probably after the Roberts forward pass for Kahu's try.

I was impressed with Thaiday, made some impressive runs. Really unimpressed with Milford, he seriously doesn't have anything other than a step and some finishing skills. He's still a fullback IMO.

Also, it feels like we seem to get tired more often than any other team in the comp. It's only round 2, and both times we've had periods where our players were barely breathing.

Gillett will be sweet,Kahu with a cork and TPJ with a strained calf I think.
TPJ might need a spell but the other 2 should be there next week.
That's good news, thanks for that.

We had every possible chance to win that game in the first period of golden point. Just couldn't get it done. That's footy. We played well guys.

Awesome game. Yes we didn't win. But it was a good game.

The issue I have, is that in the crucial stages, we need Hunt and Milford playing together, to one another. The prospect of Milford and Hunt, who are both strong runners of the ball, together up against tiring defenders is terrifying for any team. Yet for whatever reason, its like our halves are stepping on each other's toes and can't figure out who should be in charge.

I feel in those situations, with our halves, no one should be more dominant than the other, and that if they just support each other and play as first and second receiver, we'll be infinitely more dangerous. We've gone away from what has been successful and we're playing this left and right side of the field thing like the rest of the halves in the competition. They need to play both sides of the field. Our halves are also not digging in to the line as much as i'd like, and it can all get a bit too sideways at times.

In the end we lost our way because of this indecision and everything got a little disjointed. We had no clear plan, and Milford just got the ball almost exclusively, even when he shouldn't have. We need to create more options when setting up for the field goal so the defence isn't on top of Milford when he gets the ball and we need to set it up so that our kicker is a good 15 metres deep from the play the ball.

The clutch players can adjust for that, though. Milford doesn't.

Locky had to deal with that all the time. And he found a way.

Even Hodkinson can find a way..
Lockyer would have got one of them because he's left footed but I couldn't see any current player kicking a field goal when the opposition can be that far offside.

No one in 9 channel give credit to ese'ese. He was beast. The slimmed-down prop made more metres than any other Brisbane forward, eating up 170m from 18 runs across 52 minutes. The only person who could beat Ese’ese for metres was of course wrecking ball Jason Taumalolo who clocked up 179m in 81 minutes.

I agree with them playing for each other, but i suspect the fact that they are both insecure in their roles plays into that. I think milford's field goal attempts were a little telegraphed, but i'm not sure it could be helped, given that both players are learning to play a new offence, and along with that, goes some mistakes, and a lack of freedom. Sticking to assignments helps overall in attack, but costs the intuitive play, a fellow like thurston can bring, seasoned in his role and secure that should he stuff up, he probably wont be facing a call for demotion or re-assignment (ie. dropped to ISC in Hunt's case, or pushed to fullback in Milfords)

To me Cowboys should have been down to 12 men in that first half.

I find it complete bullshit that a player can get away with a professional foul if the attacking team scores. I just can't see how they can justify that, it's bullshit.

feeling shithouse, but optimistic. We improved on last week and should only get better. Both halves looked good, forwards did a good job against a very good pack.
New left side combinations coming along. Next week might be a big ask after tonight's marathon but I reckon Bennett will have his eye on the Raiders in round 4, a good win against Canberra at home could set us up for a good run through the guts of the season.

Next week problem who gone be goal kicker for next week. I think this is big issue for Broncos.

Kahu should be fine.

He just couldn't do it tonight.

But speaking of goalkicking. We missed two conversions...

We get those, we win.

cause they lack a backbone we had none. **** this game and **** this sport. I'm going to stick with wrestling for the predeter

id like to think your right but the cynic in me just believe the ref would of blown more bs penalties to give cows a set of 6 down our end to score for the win or golden point. :lostit:

If Kahu is left out of the side next week against the Storm due to his injury he picked up tonight. Who do you think will best fill his spot?

Depending on how Benji went/goes with Redcliffe, does he make his debut for the Broncs and slot into Centre pushing Moga to Wing?

Or

Does Mead Slot straight back in to cover Kahu?

Or

Do we look at Pearson, Seve, Pangai?

Also anyone know how much longer Opacic is out for?

I would have Pearson on the wing.

Just how good are these games between the us and NQL these days. Sensational game.

We should've won that no doubt at all in the first half of golden point, just like the grand final of 2015 we blew it completely although we should've won that grand final before extra time. Would've been good if Benji played tonight he would've given us a lot of composure in the big moments and probably would've sunk a field goal in extra time unlike Milford.

- Hunt played well in the first half but I felt he went missing in the second but there is positive signs there for him. This should lift his confidence

- We should've had Sims on for a lot longer than 44 minutes. He was making life hell for the Cowboys and continuing his Sharks form. Hope he gets more minutes in the future

- Moga was very average tonight and I didn't like his attitude. When he dropped the ball in the second half, he just stood there looking at the ground whilst the Cowboys were threatening to break away. Play to the whistle son.

- Roberts had another strong game with his try and meter forward pass that wasn't picked up

- Ironically we were praising the goal kicking and thought we had it all fixed after Kahu last week. Karma's a bitch

- Another strong performance from the bench, we are in good hands there

- Find it crazy people carrying on about referees when the worst call went our way and we were on the right end of a 7-3 penalty count

They'll just bring in Ponga and Gela-Mosby and be even more lethal. Scott is a big loss though, they're already scraping the bottom of the barrel with their forward stocks.
Fensom will come in, Taumalolo to spend time at prop.
