POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Cowboys

Tbf to Unbreakable, he isnt a clutch player at the moment, He is right. He doesnt step up enough in the big games. He does have moments, he does have games where he runs riot, but currently he doesnt do it enough.
Like he did last week and like he did last year in the same game??

Agreed.

Blair's attempted offload at 20-18 wasn't flash either. As a senior player, he really should have known better.
To be fair... that's a set play. Just wasn't well executed

Good game until the part where Bennett said in the press conference that Ben Hunt doesn't practice field goals.

That'll do me

Sucks to lose, obviously, but I was pretty stoked with that performance. We had plenty of chances to win it in golden point, so only ourselves to blame really.

By the way, I still hate golden point... just call it a draw for FFS.

Ese'ese was phenomenal. His upper body strength must be immense.

Mate Bennett was misquoted he said that it wasn't as if Hunt doesn't practice it.

I heard that Milford, Hunt and McCullough were practising their field goals, and McCullough was hitting them pretty sweetly. Maybe we set up both options and let McCullough have a crack. He's a pretty sweet timer of the football, and I think he could kick us field goals in pressure situations.

Mate Bennett was misquoted he said that it wasn't as if Hunt doesn't practice it.

That's not what he said at all. Listen to it again.

"Would you like to see Ben put his hand up more"

Benny: "he's probably not comfortable doing that right now. He doesn't practice it."

Did we have a bad player out there last night....aside from maybe Blair?

Can't complain about the effort the boys put in.

I'm loving our bench!

I'm not completely convinced in the way that Arrow is being used off the bench. For me, Arrow is not an impact player, so the minimal amount of minutes he is receiving makes no sense at all, and in the end, gives the impression that he is not providing much.

A lot of Arrows good work goes unnoticed, and with the few minutes he is getting, we're completely under utilising his abilities. He needs a lot more minutes to be effective. In my opinion, we should be using Arrow as a direct substitute for Blair. When Blair comes off, Arrow should go on, and when Arrow goes off, Blair should go back on.

We should make Arrow learn off Blair and have him playing like a Blair clone. If they can both play similar roles, then we'll be better across certain parts of the match, because as soon as Blair comes off, it's noticeable that we lack the little finer details that he provides.

Arrow can do the one-percenter's, apply kick pressure, control the ruck, defensively keep us tight through the middle, and can create a bit of second phase. Neither Blair or Arrow will be prolific metre eaters, but they don't have to be. Their strengths both lie in other areas, and I think Arrow can replicate what Blair provides for us, which would mean we can have someone doing the dirty work for the best part of 80 mins.

Lot's of sorrow and whinging but really, if Kahu doesn't get a kork the Broncos win. For sure there were some poor calls on both sides. Oates bombs a potential try, Blair has a few moments, etc but that is footy. Upside is Hunt actually showed that he deserves to be a first grade player. Bench had the goods as well. Funny enough, the X-factor on this team is Kahu. When he is injury free, the Broncos really have a good chance to beat anyone. One loss, isn't the end of the world. Suck it up and get ready for Thursday.

The first part is correct but I have listened to it about 10 times and he definitely says, "It's not as if he doesn't practice it".

Cechin didn't even try and hide his Cowboys love last night and two incidents stood out for me. After awarding the Boyd try, the second ref said to Cechin, "Coen Jess took a player out in the lead up there". His reply? "I think we'll just let that one slide."
Then in the second half at a scrum that the Broncs were feeding, Thurston was standing way back behind the scrum. The second ref said, "You need to push Thurston up."
Cochin replied, " I'll keep an eye on him".
How is that even trying to look impartial?

Shows how much we miss Gillett.

I just wish Hunt and Milford would work together, playing off each other consistently. It's such a waste. As a unit so to speak they would terrorise a defence in the middle, on the edges and out wide, and create far more opportunities, more space and time for our outside backs on either side.

As I see it, our backs, especially Roberts, are still under-utilised

We really lack that polish at the end of a game.

Whats boyd like at drop goals? Could kahu have taken a shot if he wasnt injured?

When the dust settles, it is just another game where the Broncos failed to win it at the clutch. I wonder what the tally has been in Bennett's recent run? Or since Lockyer retired? If you could sum the Broncos up in one phrase, so close yet so far seems incredibly apt.

On a smaller note, the young forwards were really impressive in their stint. Pangai Jr, Arrow and Ese'ese all produced strong performances. While I could see an argument that Tevita and Jai had better outings last season, this was easily Herman's best in first grade and if he can build on it the Broncos may have found the prop they've been desperately searching for.

And Ben Hunt may have rediscovered his mojo. One game doesn't make a season, but it was his best performance since the prelim against the Roosters and if he goes onto play better football, this game should be seen as the turning point for him, even in defeat.

North Queensland paid a heavy price for this victory. Scott, Coote, Winterstein and potentially Taumalolo all spending time on the sidelines. It would have been soul-crushing for them if they had have lost as well, but it's going to be difficult to be a premiership force after losing three experienced front row options in a short space of time (Tamou and Hannant in the off-season, Scott).

Id really like to see Roberts positon himself inside milf on rhe field goal set up. There has to be room behind the chasers.
Refs made some clangers but we bebefited as much as them.

Big turning point was the try before half time, reverse the position and they give the penalty . Our insistence on playing fair is growing thin.
Overall , great effort but like others I'm tired of these fuckers edging us out, especially since i prefer a draw after 80 mins.
