POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Cowboys

Thought TPJ was pretty good averaging 10 metres a hit up.

We should have won that game no doubt. The first half of extra time we dominated. I could not believe after having the field goal charged down instead of a few set up hit ups and another attempted field goal we tried to go for glory and go for the try and the ball went over the sideline. That's where we lost the game.

On the positive side, with Matt Scott likely out for a long time it looks like the Cowboys will be slim in the forward department, they definitely won't make the top 4 if he is out long term. Back whichever team is playing the Cowboys next week after two golden point games.

Id really like to see Roberts positon himself inside milf on rhe field goal set up. There has to be room behind the chasers.
Refs made some clangers but we bebefited as much as them.

Big turning point was the try before half time, reverse the position and they give the penalty . Our insistence on playing fair is growing thin.
Overall , great effort but like others I'm tired of these fuckers edging us out, especially since i prefer a draw after 80 mins.

Great tactic. Set the FG structure (such as it is) then dummy the field goal and, maybe Boyd in the line alongside Hunt, and Roberts ready for a pass or short kick into the in goal exactly as we scored our first try

It would of been better if sims was put on sooner in the second half, but I guessed this didn't happen because of Gilletts injury. I felt that for one of the FG attempts when Hunt passed to milf, Hunt should have dummied it(bringing in players from the right to tackle him) and then the next play spin out to the right where there would of hopefully been an overlap or for Roberts to crash over. A lot of good things to take out of that game, Sims was strong again, Hunt's best kicking performance, Milford looking dangerous every time he catches the ball, Moose having a good kicking game lol and cowboys season being over due to injury's.

This is something Cows have been doing to teams for the last few years. It is in their DNA, they know for a fact that JT will get the job done and all they have to do is listen and get him in the right position. For us we just don't have that at this time and to be fair a lot of teams don't have that. JT is one of the greats, one of the once in a generation type players that only Cronk and Smith come close to in this area of the game. Milford is not there yet as he lacks belief in this area of his game, you can see it on his face, he already had the weight of the team on his shoulders taking over the kicking duties. He did a fine job, I am proud of the boys. We lost in GP, everything else we showed was top of the line. We are in the running again and just have to keep our confidence and keep improving.

Manly @ Townsville with no Taupau and potentially others.

In fact the Cowboys draw is pretty easy for the next few weeks: Titans (A), Rabbitohs (H), Tigers (H), Dragons (A), Knights (H), Eels (H)...it isn't until Round 14-15 where they will start feeling the pinch.

I agree. Milf has the look of a worried man when he knows he is being relied upon to kick a field goal. As you say it looks like he has the whole weight of the world on his shoulders.

Boyd - 208 metres
Ese'ese - 200 metres, 26 tackles, 2 offloads
Oates - 194 metres
McGuire - 146 metres, 44 tackles, 1 offload
Blair - 107 metres, 27 tackles
Roberts - 105 metres, 3 offloads, 1 try
McCullough - 99 metres, 55 tackles
Mccullough 99 metres I like that
Some of his runs were superb

Was injured last night and went off

Hopefully only a minor injury. These games take so much out of the teams, to come away with only a cork, strain and concussion
we can consider our self's lucky.

I heard that Milford, Hunt and McCullough were practising their field goals, and McCullough was hitting them pretty sweetly. Maybe we set up both options and let McCullough have a crack. He's a pretty sweet timer of the football, and I think he could kick us field goals in pressure situations.
He kicked one against the Bulldogs 2014 I believe
The game where reynolds went siko

This is so true. The play immediately after milfs field goal when Sam tried a cut out pass to Oates is evidence. If he had confidence someone could step up he dummies and goes (would have gone close to)
And we come back for another fg attempt.

Yep. I could make all the arguments in the world regarding the ref did this and the ref did that......but this moment is where we officially lost the game imo. The pass to Oates was never on, there were at least 2 cowboys running straight at him because it was obvious that's where the ball was going. My throat is so fucking sore from screaming......

Coming out of the stadium I had to be walking behind that one cocky wanker cowboys supporter that was doing his best to antagonise every broncos supporter he could see "how good are those fucking cows eh?" "beat the broncos, and where did we beat them? Fucking Suncorp eh!!!!?""YeWWWW, **** yeah!!!!"........I came so...fucking close to pushing him down the stairs that lead to Roma St. I only stayed my hand because he would have landed on a bunch of kids. Still, it was a close run thing.

Plenty of good things out of there. The two moments of failing to do the little things that stood out to me the kick off and not nailing JT in the in-goal. There is two sets you could have had right there.

They're the things good teams do.

Few silly mistakes from forwards on exit sets cost them too.

I thought the Broncos' forwards were excellent, Thaiday spent a lot of time down and got a lot of attention from Anning but kept getting up and finding a way through.

McCullough was insightful from dummy half and chose good times and spot players to run.

I thought Arrow did a great job and keeps evolving every week. He is growing into the role and he's great to have because he just wants to please and do the right thing no matter what that thing is. I said last year he has a great attitude the only guy I have ever seen be picked as 18th man and be so impressive all week he forces them to change the team.

Hunt and Milford were getting better at straightening the attack back up and channelling it back at inside shoulders. Not crowding the guys outside them by going to the side and back again.

Boyd was impressive on the first try, haven't seen a replay yet so not too sure if it came up on tv but before the kick went through he was grabbing guys and telling them what was coming and where to be. Good leader.

Did he have a beard and a cowboys premiership jersey? Kind of looked like Frankie Boyle? Had a guy like that near us.

During that try, some of the players looked like they were already blowing up about one of the players (can't remember who) being tackled chasing the ball, but Boyd just kept going and made the most of it.
