POST GAME Round 2 - Broncos vs Cowboys

Guys I have question.

Just re-watched the first try to the Cowboys and it confirmed my earlier suspicions.

When he was over the line he was held by Milford and Moga and then Morgan came over and helped pushed him out of the tackle.

Can you do that?

I personally think that if Morgan doesn't get involved he doesn't score.

Morgan can only push on his own player, not ours.
Only call I had a problem with tonight was their penalty that led to the try just before the break. We were winning the count 4-0 at the time and playing very disciplined footy. I saw nothing in it and to me it just stunk of a square up before the break. We got lucky with the forward pass for our try. Not really sure why alot are saying ref cost us the game.

I saw that too, thought it was just me.

Refs aside, and they did decide the game, I think that we have far more upside than the Cows. All of our benchies look like they're improving, and our pack actually looks menacing; I'm extremely happy with the Sims inclusion. The Cows look to have picked up a few injuries, which hopefully bites them in the ass over the next few weeks after the highway robberies that they and the NRL pulled on us and the Raiders. Bolton is shit house, and if Taumalolo ever goes down they'll miss the eight comfortably.

All we need to do is look at the Raiders' season in 2016: they copped a few rough losses/ clear cut incompetence from the referees like we did tonight, but still finished top four.

EDIT: I did notice that Bennett gave our bench forwards more time tonight, especially Pangai and Ese'Ese
Pangai only got 24 mins, Ese'ese 54.

Hello @Cowboys Stampede

Enjoy some of our members having a meltdown

Did he make contact with a Broncos player?

You are allowed to push your own player over the line.

No don't think so.

He was already over the line when Morgan started pushing.

So you can push at any point just as long as you don't contact another teams player?

As long as you're not driving defenders off the ball carrier, it's fine.

Most referees don't call it either.

Torn ACL for Matt Scott.. The hits keep on coming, first we lose the game, now we might lose origin because of it.

Edit: Who comes in to replace him?.. Jarrod Wallace?.. @Super Freak

Ok. Just wanted that clarified.

Reckon we should get rid of that rule. Just doesn't make much sense that defenders on their line have to deal with holding a player up and then someone coming to help them.

I still don't think the Michael Morgen try before halftime was right. The bunker clearly saw he missed the ball, bounced off his knees into our player (forgot who) who in turn "pushes" back to Morgen to fumble at before running the try. Textbook knock on if you ask me.

Basically a BS try to take momentum back to the Cows and build the "drama"

Wow, certainly some injuries out of that game.

The NRL should give both of us the week off tbh.

OK with a few minutes to go we get a penalty down their end. Option 1 - tap & go.Possible outcomes - score a try & win, or not score & lose. Option 2 - take the 2, level the scores only to lose again in golden point due to the fact that the Cows have the best finisher of our time & we don't. Bet when we opted to take the 2 Paul Green cracked a huge smile.

I think the broncos will bounce back from this loss , but it sounds like the cowboys have paid a heavy price for their win with the injuries they sustained. Might cost them dearly in the long run

Milford still seems about two kilo's too heavy. A lot of those half-breaks would of been clean line breaks had he been lighter. He's lost some speed, acceleration and footwork. He looks sluggish at times, and clearly the weight is holding him back.

Said it many times in the pre-season and Round 1. He's still electric, but he's just not as nimble as he was in 2014-15 because of the weight. Really hurts to see, he still misses a million tackles, so it's not like the added weight is doing wonders for him defensively either, it's just a burden.

I thought there were some controversial calls and I don't have a problem with acknowledging them as long as we don't use it as an excuse. The players can't control the referees, they just have to suck it up and try to take them out of the contest as much as possible.

The calls that got me...

Kahu being taken out in the air by Linnett. The ruling there is black and white, so how the referees missed that is beyond me and the Cowboys benefited big time from it.

The forward pass from Robbo to Kahu. Obvious and had a huge bearing on the play.

I can live with it, but the Cowboys should have had a scrum inside the Broncos 10m when Feldt was ruled to have knocked it on. Again, live I can see how the referees arrived at the decision, but I think that's an instant where limiting the bunker's jurisdiction is silly. How are you supposed to make an accurate call there? I'd hate it if it cost the Broncos a premiership and the Cows should filthy about it tonight.

I found the one bad seat in Suncorp and watched the entire game with an obstructed view...

I think these games are rigged! We will win the next one . Round 2 and we played pretty good not really disapointed, except for milf taking to long to kick. Thurston showed him how to kick em .
