If I was his teammate on half or less his pay I'd probably have some expectations...

I'd almost agree but the real pain didn't really start until we became a true success. It really ramped up in early '94. The ManlySWRL conspired with the ineffectual bumbling QRL to do everything in their power to undermine and break the Broncos. That included letting the refs believe we were 'getting away with things' and had no respect for the authoritieswithin the game. It was an orchestrated and coordinated attack. *****.

That and stealing the ball. It's one of the reasons I rate him so highly, even after lockyer, Thureson and Cam Smith's careers.
No other player has a specific rule change targeted at them directly and still walked away from the game with the reputation of an all time great.
He never let a little thing like biased administrators stop him from being successful. A resilliance our current team needs to desperatively learn.

Oh, I remember. What really happened is in '86 the ManlySWRL invited the QRL to field a team in the '87 comp but they declined or rather were incompetent and knew they couldn't manage it. In '87 they again extended the offer and again the QRL couldn't commit. Some privateers decided they'd have a lash and as they say, the rest is history.

The ManlySWRL were happy, cash injection and little to no costs. In fact, the Broncos had to pay for the nswankers to fly to qld. The fact that the 88, 89, 90, 91 teams didn't win too much pleased them too. All that changed when 92 happened and despite multiple roadblocks put up by both the ManlySWRL and QRL 93 happened.

Then came the article in the Sydney press headlined with BRONCO BILLY wherein it was claimed that the Broncos never lost under Billy Harrigan and were receiving favourable treatment. We never won another penalty count under Harrigan. In fact we were treated unfairly by all the Sydney refs and this was lovingly overlooked. You just couldn't crush the arrogant Qlders enough and no one batted an eyelid.

Only two aussies had two rule changes brought in to blunt their abilities, Allan Langer and Walter Lindrum.

Oh, pretty poor covering explanation! Even if he did say that ( doubtful but) it does not mean he feels the same way about everything. Just face it, he never said anything about comfortable football and you're just using her poorly worded remark to show how butthurt you are he took 400k more a year to play elsewhere. It's kind of really obvious.

Also, I think his Mum wanted to say David wanted to be comfortable with his decision to leave. I could be wrong but it's way way more likely than your ludicrous assertion.

A similar thing happened more recently with (IIRC) Gerard Sutton. He's fucked us ever since too.
