[Round 20, 2021] Broncos vs Cowboys

I think what it means it that you have struck it (technique wise) better then expected (right on the 'sweet spot') and therefore did not need so much power. I did this a lot in my hockey days lol. Poor bastards didn't see the ball coming.
Spot on. It's hard to explain to people who have not experienced it. I remember hitting the same shot literally thousands upon thousands of times and every now and then timing it so exquisitely that I got a much more lively result.

In a different sport, golf I've experienced it too. Standing on the range hitting a hundred balls with say, a five iron. Suddenly one will absolutely explode with a pure and beautiful flight. No, not the ball exploding😏

In terms of Coates, we owe him nothing. If he doesn't get picked, that's his problem and I couldn't care less what Melbourne says, we should never do anything for them for any reason whatsoever.
I’m not interested in helping Melbourne either but I want us to avoid getting another spoon.
Putting the best available side on each week is the way to try and avoid that.

nonsense. I would hazard a guess the vast majority of us on this forum have played sport at some level and this idea that you can do something too well and **** it up is simply not true.

You can't take a free kick too well in soccer and balloon it over the bar.
You can't take a 3 in basketball too well and brick it
You can't kick a ball in league too well and miss the target completely.

Either you nail it sweetly and the end product is the desired result, or you **** it up.

edit: I have been advised this can be done in cricket.

well you can hit a cricket ball sweet as anything and still get caught, happened to me one to many times.

I used to play hockey and I can assure you if that one time I missed a goal to win the game I told my teammates, yeah sorry guys I just hit it too well for it to go in, they wouldn't have been overly happy.

thats a good point, but i think the statement is somewhat true for amateur athletes, not so much pro's if you're being paid in excess of 400k or whatever and you cant get your kick off right because you 'hit it to well; then you just dont have consistency.

isaako at 6 is one of the dumbest ideas i've ever heard

he probably has the coaching staff tie his shoelaces for him before the game
He is Moga reincarnate, I can't believe anyone would suggest this apart from the one individual on this forum who always seems to be involved with absurd stands and argumentation. It borders on the pathological and why I've placed him on ignore.

And if you did it once, sure whatever, it happens but once almost every other game? Nope, that's just poor.

It’s also talked about in cricket. Hit it too sweetly to an outfielder and you won’t be able to take a single.

I remember Locky hitting a few out in the space of a couple of games, but it didn't become a regular thing because he obviously worked on his technique to ensure he wasn't hitting it too sweetly. Just averagely.

Turpin apparently has a broken thumb.. how is his passing going to go out of dummy half?
If Turpin pulls out bring in Albert, croft to 14 to fill in at 9 or Kobe to 9 and willison makes his debut is all that really makes sense..
Unless the "broken thumb" is actually a "broken thumbnail" there's no way he should be playing. In fact, in his situation - given how important full strength grip is to tackling and passing - a broken thumb would be close to season ending.

I'll be surprised if he takes the field.

Apart from levi, the bench looks very solid this week. Croft to 9 and sharing with Kobe and Kelly to 7 looks like our best bet I think. I noticed Niu doing a bit of dummy half work too so even if he does the first one or two of the set coming out of our half it will help no end.

Exactly my thinking..
with only 1 forward named in the reserves you'd think the only options that would make sense is Kelly or Willison to come in

Nui to 14, Herbie to fullback and Arthur's in the centres maybe 🤔
Kelly to come in would make the most sense but who knows
