PRE-GAME Round 20 - Broncos vs Titans

With regards to KNik, it is more than likely just a case of sharing the load and giving these players NRL time while we play some "easy" games. Parcell seems pretty determined to play for the Broncos from those early reports on him he gave up a fair bit to continue to play ISC for the Jets. Nikorima seems like a better fit for this game as the defensive line will be less of a "crash and bash" type where Parcell, a far better defender, is required and more of a speed based offense, where KNik can cope easily. I would say that the plan is to let KNik operate like a second 1,6,7 or 9 and wreak havoc from various positions on the field. Should see some fancy plays late in the game IMO.

Maybe Hodgo's retiring and Bennett is going to test out his prospective #4s for next year.

Nothing sinister; Parcell can't play because the cap space doesn't allow it. Too much over-thinking by some here-it's out of his control.

Lol, how is anyone on here meant to know that?

We are not privy to the Broncos' salary cap arrangements, we can only go off what is in the public eye.

I am just saying it is nothing as dramatic as some of the suggestions. Disappointing situation though.

Exactly. Sorry for not being "in the know".

Yeah sorry for over-thinking it 1910, how stupid of us for not having inside information into the clubs salary cap situation prior to suggesting that Parcell might be joining the Titans next season, which has been suggested by the media.

Gosh we're stupid!

Why did the cap allow Parcell play before but not now?

It's a hat, not a cap.

Second tier cap, it only allows so much money to be spent in it, that's why Parcell has been able to play some games

So he gets paid (above his base contract) per NRL game, is that what you mean?

TBH I'm not exactly sure how it works (I'm sure others on here have a better idea) I just know that players outside the top 25 can only play so many games collectively, not sure exactly how it works though

My understanding is every player has a minimum match payment, and that over the course of a year exceeds their base salary for those on low contracts so a player who has yet to play enough games to reach his salary is still "under". I could be way off, that's what I vaguely remember reading about how the second tier cap works, so someone outside a top 25 contract is on **** all, so the 2k or so minimum match payment can quickly exceed the second tier cap which I think is something like 250k all up, so it doesn't take many players actually playing to exceed that. That's why clubs with huge injury problems have big cap issues.

I am really looking forward to watching Kodi play - his individual performance and what he brings to the team, compared to what I have seen of Parcell.

I don't think Copley will start. We saw it a few weeks back, in the game were Copley was taken off for a head clash. I expect Copley to come off the bench, perhaps to give Hodges a rest, depending on how the game is going, but more likely to replace Oates. Copley will come on at around the 50 minute mark and Oates will go back to the bench, with Oates hopefully coming back later in the forwards or to give Hodges an early finish.

I'm disappointed for Parcell because he was looking comfortable in the top grade and was looking better each week, but I'm very excited for Nikorima, who was beginning to notch up a very formidable combination with Milford before his injury.

Nikorima is a classy player and an excellent mover across the field. He almost glides across the grass and has the ability to create something from nothing with his acceleration and footwork.

Hopefully he comes on quite early like Parcell and gets used in the same way, with McCullough on the field at the same time. I'm expecting a few early line breaks from Nikorima as soon as he comes on.

He can provide spark and immediate impact, and against more quality teams as we head towards the finals, he could be our attacking ace and a point of difference to beat the good sides.
