Round 21 - Broncos vs Sea Eagles - Pre-Match Discussion

This is the side.

1. Hoffman
2. Kahu
3. Copley/Reed
4. Hodges
5. Maranta/Copley
6. Barba
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Parker
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Thaiday

14. Reed/Granville
15. Oates
16. Lowrie
17. Hannant

I suspect you're right. Is that the same side that ran out for the Storm? Griffin is just taking the **** now surely. Amazing how one player can affect the make up of the side. Reed or Granville? I wonder who would offer more...

I still don't understand how Vidot supposedly went from our best buy to reserve grader.

It really is harsh on Vidot to not be back in the side. If the 3 players punished for poor behaviour he has been by far the best performed.

He was solid yesterday, played on the left and made some strong runs again. Hot day to be playing in the pack but he went well.

Tried a few off-loads that didn't come off and put the Jets under pressure.

Remember too it's Vidot's second offence this year, not first like the other two.

I wasn't aware Vidot had a previous incident this year. I must-have missed it or forgotten. Makes sense that he wasn't straight back into the side.

Edit: Never mind. 1910 already revealed the stuff with Vidot.

He missed a training session in the pre-season afaik, hence why he wasn't selected in the trial games / 9's.

On top of that, it would have been difficult to drop either Maranta or Kahu after the Warriors game. Both put their hands up on that night and deserved another shot.

You could make the argument that he should have been selected over Reed, but Jack has more good-will with the club and really neither guy was the right choice.

Should have been Granville. I don't care if he's off to the Cowboys next season, right now he's easily one of the best 17 players we have, so he gets a shot.

I reckon Vidot will get the nod ahead of Maranta.

This is going to be the first match I watch since the debacle against the Sharks.

I can't wait... :|

I think Vidot has been punished enough......Reed and Oates miss one game, Vidot got two, be done with it now! We need him back tbh......Maranta and Kahu dont have the strength that Vidot has on the kick returns from our half.

Griffin has to wake up FFS!

What i expect to see.....

1. Hoffman
2. Kahu
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Copley
6. Barba
7. Hunt
8. Maguire
9. Macca
10. Parker
11. Glenn
12. Thaiday
13. Gillet

14. Kennedy
15. Lowrie
16. Oates
17. Hannant
What I would like (need) to see.....

1. Hoffman
2. Vidot
3. Copley
4. Hodges
5. Kahu
6. Barba
7. Hunt
8. Maguire
9. Macca
10. Hannant
11. Gillet
12. Thaiday
13. Parker

14. Kennedy
15. Granville
16. Oates
17. Glenn

I wouldn't be surprised if Reed goes onto the wing:

1. Hoffman
2. Vidot
3. Copely
4. Hodges
5. Reed
6. Barba
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Parker
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Thaiday

14. Hannant
15. Lowrie
16. Kennedy
17. Oates

I would be pretty disappointed.

Think you're pointing fingers at the wrong person there.

Vidot shouldn't be going out and breaking team curfew.

Kahu and Maranta completely justified their spots last week.

Maranta also completely justified being dropped this week.

GotheBroncs, I don't see how going up against Manly with one prop on the bench would benefit us.

Storm, Manly, Bulldogs. They have good packs. One prop on the bench is just not going to cut it..

Hopefully Griffin realises this

It's better than one prop in the starting side and two on the bench, like has been done to death. If necessary Thaiday can take a spell, Parker can move up front, while Oates & Kennedy come on.

I like it better than previous teams because for the majority of the game Parker will be taking the 3rd or 4th run, where it is more open, and Hannant & McGuire can fire their shots early. This works best of course when there's another big body (Kennedy) on the bench to maintain the rage, otherwise we spend the whole game with just one specialist prop on the field, with the rest of our "mobile" pack being dominated through pure aggression.

Big Pete, two wrongs dont make a right either though IMHO. Yes, i agree that i should be looking at Vidots hand in this, but i guess i should be pointing many fingers. I think if Vidot has trained hard, he should be in the side ahead of maranta. Hence why i kept Kahu on one wing and Vidot got the other.

SF, i totally agree with you. But......knowing Griffin, he would put parker in the front row, which would push an actual front rower to the bench, which then gives you your 2 front rowers on the bench, which is shit!
Im essentially putting the best players from what i have seen on the park....i dont think Hala is consistent enough and wallace will get dominated, just like most of our front rowers bar Hannant on a good day or kennedy on an agro, rampaging day (which is never).

It's not the first **** up for Vidot at the Broncos, he missed a training session in the pre-season as well. I'm fine with him getting punished like this, he needs to learn his lesson, if he isn't in the side this week I won't be spitting chips, because it'll benefit him (And us) long term.
