For some hindsight didn't come into it. I've never been impressed we dumped Copley.

Copley was doing absolutely nothing at the time.

He had a good run of form in 2014, and wasn't able to back that up and continue on with it.

Even for most of this year, he wasn't that good and had one good game against a Broncos side that are playing like wooden spooners.

At the time, it was the right call for the Broncos. He had been in the NRL for years and barely went anywhere.

Be honest, if Roberts was actually doing something, you probably wouldn't be saying that. You're disappointed that Roberts is proving to be a dud signing.

It's starting to look like we have a couple of duds that are sitting in positions that should be taken by someone else.....

Hindsight's a wonderful thing, isn't it?

what hindsight ... If i recall, i was screaming it at the top of my lungs ...

we saw what he could do in 2014 with a dud as coach and a hoggman at 5/8

this year he would have has a future superstar at 5/8 and the best coach in rugby league history at the helm

You could see tonight's result coming a mile away.

Wasn't through a lack of effort, just too many new faces, battered bodies and egos among the lot.

With Gillett, McGuire and Thaiday due back next week I predict a much better result for the Broncos next week and I wouldn't be surprised if they finish the season with a wet sail.

It won't be enough to win a premiership, but should be enough to put them in good stead for 2017.
Hope your right Pete. Yeah special shout out to McGuire and Thaiday who we could have done with but their utter I'll discipline left us way short in the forwards. I'd be tempted to give them another week off just to get them to smarten up. Our young fellas did pretty well off the bench and keen to see more minutes from them

How?

What's happened behind closed doors??

Bennett pushing Parker out, banning Milford from Samoa, going overseas sojourn mid season.. the cocaine incident. Origin? Injuries? There's no aces left in our hand at all.

Other than pulling a 2006 esque shuffle and throwing Milford to the back, Hunt to the bench hooker, Boyd to six and finding a half that can get a repeat set and play direct behind a fucking superstar forward pack???

Have we hit rock bottom yet?

Did Milf and Hunt get tackled with the ball tonight?

After last year I thought we were building a bit of a dynasty for the next few years at least. After this year though, we need a rebuilding phase. Unbelievable.

Probably not right now. I'd be feeling bad for Copley right now if it was the other way around. I acknowledge Copley has issues in defense but I always reckoned they could be coached out of him as he can put a good one on one hit. it's when he runs out the line and flails I had issues with and though someone like Bennett would coach it out of him but instead we gave him the boot. With the ball in hand I have no problems with Copley whatsoever.

Why even bother supporting them anymore at this point in that case? To squander a perfect premiership window because of bad team attitude, it doesn't really promote much respect for the club.

he had a bad run of injuries early on and didnt have much luck. he was a top liner in 2014. he had been injured majority of this year but tonight was a reminder of his footy skill.
thats a harsh call saying he hardly went anywhere...he is better than what we have.

The whole club is in trouble. Our past success and legendary players only mask the deep problems we have. Why don't we ever have future origin stars coming though? All our apparent young talent gets let go because they are behind the likes of maranta and Macca. Something really stinks. And it's been rotting away for years. Now the stink lines are seeping out and no one knows what to do.

I agree with this, some head scratching decisions over the years with regards to who we keep and who we let go. I refuse to believe that Maranta is the best winger we can find?

Hunt stripped the ball off some big fella again... forgot who and managed a couple of actually useful offloads.

Edit. Some weird stuff is happening tonight with quoting. This isn't the post I replied too haha.

Part of the reason why Roberts is playing so poorly is because he's the only threat in our backline apart from Oates (who's outside an average centre most of the time) and Boyd (who isn't really a threat running the ball).

He's not? Kahu is our first choice winger if Reed is fit. Maranta is a depth player and he plays exactly like one.

I have suspected for some time that our players are not as fit as they should be. No doubt they we're fit enough at the beginning of the season but for the last two months they have looked off the pace..Maybe they put in a big pre season and have just slackened off during the season. Thaiday and Milford both look to be carrying a few extra kgs. Just how hard are these guys training?
