POST GAME Round 21 - Roosters vs Broncos

I'm not having a dig at Bennett (more at BHQ)

but I haven't seen the knives come out for Bennett after our recent performances ...

If Hook was still the coach, an angry mob would have already been formed ready to lynch him

Yep. Too right. I liken us to a kid repeating school kid with Wayne coming back. You get a small temporary uplift (ok we got up for an entire season) then plateaued back to old standards. Even with some players back I don't think Wayne can fix it where other coaches might.

So the playing group is the one common denominator in the henjak, griffin, and now Bennett slumps.

outgunned and outplayed tonight, i am really starting to think the game is moving or has already moved past bennett.
for the life of me i cant work out why he moved blair on the edge again.
the herman try or apparent no try is a disgraceful decision. the bunker is a stinking joke.
tpj was solid tonight and ese'ese showed some glimpses of a very promisijg future. you need a point of difference and these guys have it. arrow tried hard and offa looks way off the pace now. i cant work out why herman only gets minutes late in the game, every time he runs the ball it takes 4 defenders to pull him down
copley schooled roberts tonight big time!!!!
mculloch couldnt hold a candle to friend, we cant win a premiership with macca as our hooker.
the halves, well they are going like busteds... it might be the tv but milford looks fat around the hips and gut again...
glenn had to play out of position, .
sua has a future, but the line he runs will need to be varied very very quickly. it might work in the 20's and junior footy but it has already been worked out at nrl level.
boyd tried hard again but didnt have much support.

On a somewhat bittersweet note, good to see Copley have a good night. It's been a rough year for him and I thought he might have had it with injuries.

He needed that. Good on the Roosters for not replacing him or moving him all round the park expecting him to adapt to Right wing, right centre, left wing, left centre. His problem for us in his final games is that he was trying too hard and brained himself three tackles in a row.

It's hard to watch us play this bad after how good we were at the beginning of the season. The season has slipped away rapidly. Amazing really.

I still can't believe we let Copley walk out the door ... actually, we didn't just let him walk out, we threw him out

i agree foordy, not only is he a good player but he has no ego or attitude either. unlike a certain someone.....

TPJ is the goddamned future, everything about the kid is fucking glorious. While I still believe we'll give the finals a real shakeup this year I'm more excited about about what we can do in 2017 with the experience we've given to our rookies this year.

Is it blind faith? Yes sir.

Will I believe in my team no matter what? **** yeah.

Do I think we can win the comp despite all signs pointing to the opposite? You can bet your life on it.

Just wait until we field our full strength 17 you Karmichael's!!!

The whole club is in trouble. Our past success and legendary players only mask the deep problems we have. Why don't we ever have future origin stars coming though? All our apparent young talent gets let go because they are behind the likes of maranta and Macca. Something really stinks. And it's been rotting away for years. Now the stink lines are seeping out and no one knows what to do.

Hindsight's a wonderful thing, isn't it?

You could see tonight's result coming a mile away.

Wasn't through a lack of effort, just too many new faces, battered bodies and egos among the lot.

With Gillett, McGuire and Thaiday due back next week I predict a much better result for the Broncos next week and I wouldn't be surprised if they finish the season with a wet sail.

It won't be enough to win a premiership, but should be enough to put them in good stead for 2017.

Luckily for the Broncos, the dishes were already done tonight...

In James Roberts defence
Copley didn't school him on his own. Copley has a coach and halves that planned how to school Roberts. It's team work and tactics. We have neither of those

For some hindsight didn't come into it. I've never been impressed we dumped Copley. I've watched a few Chooks games hoping for Copley to come good like he was for us. I wanted to see how Niko and Frei went too.

Not one repeat set in 2 games
weak edge defence
rubbish leadership (cozza's penalty in the first half then lip to get marched 10 was a disgrace)..Wayne won't do it but he has to go as captain for Boyd
Shame we lost our average winger early but I'm fed up with excuses around these

on the upside

well done our young forwards
tom opacic bhq man of the match for me. Out of position and really had a go.

I'm actually really hoping for a betting scandal. That way we can go "oh, that's why we were playing so shit". Because the alternative is actually far scarier. We just are that shit.
