Broncos needs an analytics guy chirping away at Kevvie's ears...."look if player A comes on instead of player B we have 50% better chance of winning....if player N plays at FB expect to leak this many points etc."

Brings me back to the Cowboys chestnut. Some genius realised that the ratio of Thurston touches to tries scored was X amount, so decided to give him the ball twice as much. Oddly enough, they didn't score twice the tries. It was so bloody obvious that it was going to Thurston ALL THE TIME thay they just swamped him.

Really don't understand how you've come up with that this has been his best season to date in terms of overall ability. Has humiliated the likes of Talakai, Tago, Suli, Momirovski, Best and arguably bested Olam against the storm. (besides momo all very physically imposing strike centres)
Is in the top 10 for tackle breaks in the nrl, top 4 in the NRL for linebreaks amongst his position and has been one of the best defensive centres by far this year I think his try saver count would be close to 10 or more which is ludicrous in itself.

Only thing that he's not doing is scoring a try every game like he was when our entire gameplan was get him the ball. (2019-2020) Our whole attack this year we've created maybe 3 overlaps for tries, he's not a Stephen Crichton or Tago where about 3/4 of his tries are from being put through holes or getting good ball on overlaps because we don't attack like that.

Come finals time when there's more fatigue and less structured play In the game I'm sure we're going to see us use our strike weapons like him and Cobbo more often then we have been the last few weeks.

IMO if you are not giving accurate stats, it will ruin your credibility.

Top 4 line breaks among his position?
Izack Tago; Mathew Feagai; Taylan May; Joseph Manu; Justin Olam; and Jesse Ramien. I have no doubt he is top 4 income among his position.

Top 10 tackle breaks in the league? He sure sits on the 9th for 86 breaks in 19 games, but Greg Marzhew 85 breaks in 13 games and also special mention to Tesi Niu 54 breaks in 10 games and Selwyn Cobbo 71 breaks in 15 games; I would reluctantly call him top 10 tackle breaks in the league.

Since you mentioned his great effort in the defense, I would love to share some stats enlighten but you: Staggs’ handling errors are top 4 in the league, top 3 among his position ; Overall errors, Staggs is top 2 in the league; Missed tackles, Staggs is top 2 among his position……

Don’t get me wrong, I like Staggs. But based on the money he’s making, he is not a player of great value of the money. Too error prone.

Everyone is talking about great match great player, Haas and Staggs are the two players who didn’t show great sign in saving the team or winning the game, but they both are on great money

Matthew Feagai and Taylan May are wingers mate…

It goes Tago, Manu, Olam then Staggs for linebreaks by centres this season.

Centres touch the ball far less then wingers and fullbacks so him being in the top 10 is not a deceptive fact whatsoever.

has missed the most in his position but wouldn’t have a tackle efficiency of 83 percent if he missed far more then he made.

I understand he doesn’t score very game but I’m using real stats. I wouldn’t have said those things if they weren’t true haha.
In terms of monetary value I’m not sure a centre is ever going to be worth it unless they play like a fullback.

Broncos fullback Te Maire Martin returned from a rib injury via Wynnum Manly in Queensland Cup and showed exactly why he’s set to be recalled into the NRL side this week. Martin scored a try, set up another, got two linebreaks, two linebreak assist and ran for 155 metres, although he did miss five tackles.

although he did miss five tackles.

Not really a worry. You'd find it difficult to find a fullback that's very good defensively when it comes to tackling. 9 times out of 10 if they are the last line of defence trying to stop someone from scoring, they get run over. Sometimes they stop them, most of the time they don't.

As long as are good at reading the play, have good positioning and can organize the defence, you'll be fine with that.

I’d be more concerned as to why a fullback is required to make that many tackles. Something in the defensive line must be broken if that’s the case. Our front line defence is our biggest problem

Because he follows the play and provides cover defence which is often low odds of being successful but on occasion ends in great try saving moments

I see calls for Gamble and Paix, I don’t think that works. Can’t have them both on the bench.
