POST GAME Round 22 - Titans vs Broncos

Great effort from the boys. Reminded me alot of some of our games leading up to the 2015 semi finals. A win like that will give them alot of confidence. Defence was good and the attack just flowed on from that. Man, we have some strike weapons out there.

Best thing about the game for me though was watching the Plane crash and burn......really fucking hard. The bloke has come back from the U.S. an absolute spud and it couldn't happen to a bigger dickhead.

This game was just an attacking spree by the Broncos. But what impressed me the most was how they all were turning up for each other in defence. It was as if they got more excited stopping a attacking raid than scoring a try.

Simple key to Broncos' romp

Brisbane Broncos captain Darius Boyd has put his team's huge 54-0 win over the Gold Coast Titans down to one thing – good old-fashioned hard work.

The win broke a number of records, with it being the Titans' biggest ever loss in their history and the Broncos' biggest ever victory away from home.

The 54-point haul was the most Gold Coast have conceded at home and Brisbane's highest score since 2007.

But despite the scoreline the result did not come easy for Brisbane, with the Titans piling on the pressure in the first 20 minutes as the Broncos defended their try-line time and time again.

Gold Coast had 63 per cent of possession in that period and when Neil Henry's men could not turn field position into points their heads dropped.

Brisbane then capitalised to pile on the points but it could not have been done without their early defensive effort.

It was particularly pleasing for coach Wayne Bennett after his side had conceded 28 points against the Parramatta Eels the week before in a disappointing display.

Boyd praised his side's defensive turnaround, saying a huge effort during the week had put the team in a good position to turn their form around.

"I said to the team in the huddle after the match that [our defensive effort was] why we put a score on the board like we did," Boyd said.

"We worked hard. Nothing comes easy. You have to work hard and get the results after that.

"It wasn't us last week and we spoke about that through the week. We had a pretty tough training week and it worked wonders for us tonight."

The win was the second time this season the Broncos have kept a team to nil, with the previous occurrence taking place in their 36-0 win over the Wests Tigers in Round 19.

Boyd said the defensive effort was more pleasing than cracking the half-century in points scored.

"They are both pretty pleasing, but once the scoreboard starts getting away that (keeping a side to nil) does become a bit of a goal," he said.

"There were a few of us talking out there saying that zero is the number and that zero is the key. To keep a team to no points is a pretty special effort."

There were special efforts all round the park from the Broncos, with the likes of Ben Hunt, Kodi Nikorima and Anthony Milford running a muck after Brisbane's early defensive display.

It was running rugby league at its best from the three Broncos stars, with their skill even wowing their experienced fullback.

"It's always a tough game against the Titans. I can't remember any easy ones. We can only control our performance and I thought we took it away from them early," Boyd said.

"We defended well and we have a lot of skilled guys in the team. You saw some of that [skill] on display."

Well hopefully there's no complacency from here on and they train hard and tough every week. If they're not switched on at this end of the season they should know they'll get flogged every week no matter which team we play.

This game reminded me of when we smashed the Rabbitohs in 2015, but better. If I remember correctly Hunt scored a hat-trick in that game as well or was it Milford?
Exactly
The game last night is one of those games you will every so often go and watch the replay of it again. Like the Bunnies game in 2015

Niko's first try of the night, does anyone think Taylor could do that I think not.

Brisbane are well on their way to securing a top four spot, while the Titans are dangerously close to getting sucked into the scrap to avoid the wooden spoon.

Former NRL hard man Carroll suggested they were already starting to think about packing their bags and heading off on holidays to start their off-season.
So bad was their effort he compared their defence to arm wrestling a grandmother.

“The Titans were ordinary. It’s like as a kid when you go to see your Nanna, and you put your arm up and you beat her in an arm wrestle,” Carroll said on Fox Sports’ Gameday Live.
“They had nothing. Seriously, they had nothing.
“I think a few of these boys are thinking about their trip away, which is in four weeks, and I think they’re already on the plane.”

With the under-pressure Des Hasler taking the focus off the problems of other sides, Titans coach Neil Henry has avoided any intense scrutiny over his position but with an underachieving roster sinking like a stone late in the season, the heat is starting to rise.
While choosing not to point the finger directly at Henry’s coaching for the Titans’ struggles, Carroll expressed bemusement over their inability to put together a string of good performances.
“It’s disappointing because they are such a great side on their day,” Carroll said.
“It’s like the Warriors mate, you just don’t know which one you’re gonna get. It’s get a coin, flip it, ‘OK we’ll play well today, or we’ll play not that good’, so that’s footy.”

The ****? Carroll used to arm-wrestle his Nanna?

His Nanna would have put up more resistance then the Titans did last night.

The defensive set after the Joffa tackle was incredible. There were 2 try savers in that stretch of play
