[Round 23, 2021] Broncos vs Warriors

Herbie has improved his attack of late but still has the odd defensive issues. Hopefully this gets better as he is relatively young.

In my view he needs a different player to Oates outside him. A genuine speedster off the mark would make a big difference. Mead outside Herbie works much better over Oates in my view. Admittedly, I am not a fan of Oates. Yes he gets good metres but he isn't the only winger in the comp to do this. And others like T'oo and Mansour leave him for dead with their handling and positioning.

As Iv'e said before I'd love Staines or Hamiso Fidow in the 1 . Both are looking for fullback opportunity next year. Not sure what their market value would be but couldn't be more than 300-400 each. I don't think Cobbo or Niu are ready for long term Number 1

Yep, I've been calling for Hammer for a while, unfortunately, I think his price has probably gone up a bit more than I would have liked pre-origin.

That's why I think Staines. He is out of the team atm and Penrith have a lot of talent to keep. Might be a good chance to poach him. He is under contract but...

Yeah but the old fashioned part of me wants us to stick with Qlders. Also, Staines won't be cheap and is unproven, so I'd rather give Cobbo a shot before Staines.

I have to be honest, I feel a bit bad for the poor kid Walsh. He knows his kicking lost them the game tonight. I like what he brings, he's a real good'un and will have a long and successful career in the sport (pending injuries etc.) It was hard to see him like that tonight, but it's good for him too. The better team won tonight, and it was certainly not his fault (even though I know it seems like it right now to the poor bloke).
I was nearly crying for Walsh and all his missed conversions, and the FG, but to be clear, it would have been crying with laughter.
We developed Walsh, and we laid out a pathway to first grade via ISC which would have made Walsh a better footballer long term. We wanted to keep him and made him a reasonable offer for someone who was yet to debut.
He said no. He did. Not us.
He either took the bucks, or took the easy/quick path, or both - but he didn't want to stay and develop his game the way the coach wanted him to, so his failings yesterday are a result of that.
His choice, and yesterday's victory was all the sweeter because it was him missing all those 2 pointers.

What have you seen from Staines exactly? He's looked bang average everytime I've seen him.
He is bang average on the wing but is a very good number 1. Certainly coming through the grades.

Annersley just said Aitken scored and provided a dubious at best angle to prove it. That angle has Coates arm in front which is interesting because if it was in front, how’d it get injured by Aitken landing on it?!

I dont know why exactly, and quite a few of our guys do this, but seriously when you play fullback at this level the job comes with the expectation you put your body on the line.

Niu, do NOT take the easy option and try to kick a loose ball in our in-goal area into the stands.

You grab that ball or you dive on it...

Sorry kid, but as the last line of defence, its YOUR job...

If you get hurt doing it, then you get hurt...

In Annersley's description he slows the play down and says "follow Aitkens hand" and when it comes into view he says it is Coates' hand. Yet magically it has a bandaged wrist and Coates wrists are not bandaged. So not only did the bunker get it wrong, Annersley's whole team had the rest of the weekend to replay it and they still got it hopelessly wrong. Go and look at it yourself. Also look at the thumb on the bandaged wrist it is a left hand as you can see the palm. At this point it was Coates right hand that gounded the ball. The guy is a frikkin pumpkin. The hand that they say was last to the ball was the bandaged wrist and that was obviously the hand of Aitken.

His smoking gun that removes all doubt is a grainy side on shot.

He completely dismissed the reverse angle and didn't even bother to show that in freeze frame like he did with the other.

If you look at it from behind or on reverse it's Coates hand that grounds it whereas Aitken's go over the top. If anything it should have been a seven tackle set to the Broncos.

Also covered the Farnworth and Hiku no-tries earlier.

Why Cecchin didn't yell play on before blowing the whistle I have no idea.

I'll be grabbing a packet of something salty and sitting down to watch this tonight...
