Round 23 - Bulldogs vs. Broncos - Build Up Thread

I think we need to have all our players use a new phone case for the week.

I found one for our halves.

 .........do we actually work together? Spooky stuff.......

I must have missed you're report after yesterday's game Porthoz. Funny how you seem to go a bit quiet when Peter Wallace is displaying his below average ability ......

at least to those of us without out heads buried in the sand.:winky:
Mate, I was out for the day with the family, and after reading this forum, I'm sort of glad I didn't see the game, and although I still have it recorded, I doubt I will.

I have acknowledged that Wallace has turned to crap in the last month or so, but I'll leave the dead horse flogging to you! :001_tongue:
But then again, so has Norman, and IMO the lesser of two evils is still Wallace. Besides he is the only one of the pair who leaves everything on the field, and that for me means a lot.

I'd prefer to see Hunt moving to first receiver and moving Wallace to 5/8, but with pretty much the whole team playing like busteds, a young squad, and the heavy injury toll, only a miracle will turn things around quickly.

Tbh, this is where Hook can show whether he belongs to the cream of NRL coaching...

State of Origin will keep killing us while it's still mid-week. Our players just look too tired and busted, especially the Origin ones. I guess as long as this keeps up, for Broncos sake you'd have to hope QLD selects less of our players, but as a QLD fan you probably think the opposite.

I am looking for a "kick it out on the full when we get a penalty FFS" phone case. Have you seen one??

School boy errors like that are what is so hard to take as a fan. I mean we were actually travelling alright yesterday but every time we got some ascendancy we f***ed it for ourselves. I mean we would make a nice break and be close to a certain try... forward pass. Gained heaps of momentum and have contained canberra well.... last tackle and petro inexplicably deliberate strips the ball (seriously WTF was with that). Get a penalty to get us out of trouble... can't even kick it out on the full, and then the raiders score. I mean you can take a form slump, poor form due to injuries, inexperience etc etc. BUT NOT KICKING THE BALL OUT ON THE FULL!!!!!! for crying out loud, one of the drunken halfwits in the stands could probably manage that without spilling his beer.

Salary cap scandals hitting the rest of the competition is the only thing that will turn this around quickly

And this is what else is infuriating. We all know that the commission won't change a damn thing to do with origin so we will keep suffering this year after year after year after year. The NRL has the worst administration of any sport, and im not joking. The fact that it even exists is because the product is so damn good that it could be run by satan himself and people would still watch it. I still find it bizarre that when grant kicked gallop out he cited his reactionary way he approached administrating the game as the main reason, when John Grant must be the most reactionary person going around. I mean old benny boy in newcastle complains about the wrestling going on (he only hates it when his team is not competent enough to successfully do it) and before he has finished his sentence grant is on the phone to the refs telling them to get rid of it. Origin will never stop being mid week until something that the can't ignore or shape the media around happens. It is going to take something like every coach banding together and refusing to release their stars to force a change... and this won't happen. It's the same as all the whinging going on about the refs at the moment, whats the point? it won't change. It would take a captain marching their team off the field to make them do something, or one of the half wits admitting that they are rigging the games for it to change... and we all know that this wont happen.

Sorry I know this is completely off topic...

This is where we can agree on something. I posted earlier that Griffin is at a cross roads now

How he handles things from here on in will show us just what he is made of

......I would like to see him face up to reality with

(you know who)

and try something different.

Ole Pete won't look too bad wearing the no.14 jersey........

this comes down to confidence and attitude. our attitude was ok for the first 25 minutes and we were "on top" but you could feel the confidence slipping away with every failed play. that exposed our poor attitude at the moment and the game was lost early in the second half.

i know we weren't far behind on the scoreboard but at no stage in the second half did i feel like we were going to win that game. you could see it in the body language out there.

i hope hodges has his head screwed on when he comes back. when is he due back? this week?

if he has the right attitude he has the ability to lift the guys around him.

I hope he doesn't come back thinking he has to try and do it all himself.

Well somebody has to do something. He might be able to spark the team into action

The type of attitude displayed throughout alot of this year especially in defence is the last thing our team needs right now.

Most of our problems with defence were right in the middle of the field, usually involving Thaiday and Civo....and sometimes a bit out wider with Hodges. It was definitely bad. But our goal line defence has been brilliant for most of the season IMO, it's where the team showed the most determination all year. They should look at that for inspiration.

Thanks to Foordy: Ability is what your capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.

The only thing missing in the latter part of this year, maybe, has something to do with both "confidence" and "composure under pressure".

To be fair to the team and the coach, it takes more than 1 season to replace those 2 key elements that seem to have evaporated with Lockyer's retirement, 2 elements Lockyer inspired on which the Broncos have relied for so long.

Oh sorry dude, I meant to say *The type of attitude displayed by Hodges

I agree our goal line defence has saved face for us on many occasions this season.

Yes, I know who...

I don't see the value of Wallace off the bench. I suppose he takes enough hit ups to play as a backrower but he doesn't really make the meters.
