POST GAME [Round 24, 2023] Broncos vs Eels

For anyone like me who saw Moses holding his face after making a tackle and was concerned it may have been a raised arm or something silly from our side (because of course we'd get slammed by the MRC if there was even a sniff of one for taking out Moses) - this put my mind at peace:

Maybe a bit more time spent tackling and playing hard rather than the little kissing session and you would get a different result, Parra. Also… sucked in, 54-10.

What was up with these try celebrations?

It’s the Johnny ‘Money’ Manziel celebration.

He was a Texas college QB a few years back who has become a cult figure for his seat-of-his-pants Quaterback play and wild off-field antics. He used to do this celebration after scoring.

A great documentary about his life (part of the ‘Untold’ series) has just come out on Netflix and clearly the boys have been watching it.

People suggesting it’s arrogant and flashy are idiots.

Surely that all but secures us a top 2 finish unless we get massive scores put on us in the final two rounds.
I just want us to beat Melbourne in front of a sold out Suncorp.
My only concern is possibly peaking too early but I don’t think that’s the case. Hopefully we use the bye to reset and really think about what it would mean to put 50 on Penrith in the GF.
Maybe we can treat the Bye as the loss we need to have

Just about but not locked up officially. But basically NZ need to win all their remaining games, we need to lose them all and either we get belted in both or they rack up a cricket score in all of them.

Lowest we can finish now though is third and almost certainly, we'll be playing the Warriors regardless, it is just a question of where unless the Panthers drop a game and we win both remaining.

Panthers have the Titans, Eels and Cowboys to come.

I'd assume no Moses for the Eels. I can't see the Titans winning their game. Cows are really our only hope of springing a surprise win in the Panthers run home assuming the refs don't shepherd them home. Amazing how often the refs give such a good teams a leg up.

Lol the Parra forum is great reading. Herbies created some enemies:

I guess the only negative that concerns me coming out of last nights game is the amount of errors starting to increase in Reece Walsh's game. Other than the few things he did really well.......you could argue he had a shocker last night.

His enthusiasms....could bite us on the arse soon.

Yep, particularly against the Storm who generally take their chances, we can't be turning over cheap ball.

The Panthers have traditionally rested players in the final round once a top 2 finish was assured.

So the minor premiership could come down to how we perform against the Storm

I was at the game and haven't seen a replay, but it felt like the boys always knew the game was in hand and were just throwing it around for shits and giggles.

They did not care that they were playing eels and weren't even trying to be ruthless... just total carefree footy and didn't need to get out of second gear.

It's not a great sign that we didn't want to be ruthless and play controlled footy, but I also feel like this team can just flip a switch and get into a grind if they want to as well... last night they must've felt like they didn't need to grind it out and just put the blow torch on them straight away.
