If we keep playing the way we are, the Storm won’t even have that chance to be fair. Only one team in the comp can go with us at the moment and even for them, the way we are playing, I’m not sure.

Meh. We play high risk, high reward footy and errors come with the territory. Looking at the ladder the formula is working.
When the risks come off we score points and have the opposition scrambling and using up lots of energy in defence. It's no coincidence we look the fresher of the teams at the end of games.
When it doesnt come off we are defending those errors which is the most important thing.

Went to the Gabba last night for the game, first game live for the year for me. It still seems odd watching footy in a ground like that.
Best way I can describe that performance was strong. Everything we needed to do we did it. Wasn't a single weak link in the team. Herbie, Capewell and Walters were our best players imo, but you could make an argument for probably another 4 or 5 others as well.
Couple of very minor, nit picky issues I have. We should have put over 60 points on them. It was noticeable after Carrigan went off our forwards, while still not performing poorly lost a bit of their shape and structure. Maybe it's something you see better in ground than on TV, but he keeps really does make sure they are all where they need to be and I think it made us a little clunky when he wasn't there.
Secondly, and it's not really a nit pick, more of an observation, Walsh is going to be almost unplayable once he adds a little calmness to his work. Couple of times he pushed things when he didn't need to. Scary to think in 2 years time what he will be capable of.

It was definitely noticeable when Patty went off, even on the broadcast. We lost quite a bit in the middle and I was surprised it was so much more noticeable than other weeks.
I think Kev is definitely managing workloads though, and giving players experience in different positions, I guess in case someone goes down so it's a bit familiar. Example, Billy and Smoothy were both on the field for a while lastnight.
Walsh is something else. A generational player for sure, once he cuts out the errors it's terrifying how good he could be.

Mariner's run was quick and direct, gets a great play the ball after a legs tackle. Walsh knows the Eels are a shambles and goes the blind. If you have a look the Eels have seven players on the open, two on the blind when Moses backs to the line and Lane just doing nothing. Mam gets into dummy half and moves it on.
Two on two and Walsh slows it down so much to create the space for Capes. But the kicker is Reynolds, when Walsh starts moving towards the line Reynolds moves straight away sprinting past Mam, Mariner and Herbie and by the time Walsh passes to Capes he's gone past everyone to put himself in a position to get the ball. Capes kicks it through, and he's chased from 43 out to get the ball 5m out and score.
Great vision, support play, instincts and execution.

That win was setup when we were under the pump for a good 10mins in the first half. Eels were turning up in defense and we were struggling to get out of our 30m line. We weathered that and went down and scored which broke their backs and rolled them.

Don't forget his classy swerve and step to go under the posts without a hand on him. The Cover defence was made to look a wee bit silly.

2 or three times he dropped the ball last night after taking his eyes off it .
One from an offload by Patty . Thinking about his next move before he secures the ball . Easily fixed . That step back inside on the left last night is a weapon he will develop with time . Also threw some dud passes along with the good`ns .
His passing is far in advance of Slater at the same age . So much to look fwd to

Also, I've been saying it for a while and by no means the only one doing so, Mariner just has something special. I honestly would not be against him keeping that wing spot from now. This is no negative comment about Arthars or Oates, both of them are phenomenal players, Arthars especially this year but Mariner just has something extra. I said to my mate who I was watching it with last night, there is actually quite a bit of JYY in him. So fast, so agile and deceptively strong, just knows how to find the try line. He's special, very very special.

The way things are unfolding if we do win the minor premiership there's a good chance we will face the storm in the first week of the final at Suncorp.
If we beat them in the final round (which we will have to do to finish first) then we will have to beat them again a week later.
If we can do that I don't think anything, maybe even winning the GF, could ever top that for me....
