Just throw Tesi in, hes the best athlete ever seen.

With an uninterrupted preseason he might come out on top .
Like I just laid out FB`s need lots of running training . Hard to do that if you tear your hamstring in both legs ...

I honestly dont think Ezra is the fall guy. If i was coach i would have given him a break sooner. Hes had a great year but the pressure is building on him and there a things he needs to work on.
💯 .. it’s the sort of thing what Wayne Bennett would do

No , I don`t think that Walsh has automatic selection as #1 .
That could ruin the kid .Not having to compete for the position is a hiway to mediocrity .

He is in a 4 way shoot out .Back 5 get injured the most in NRL . Back ups are needed .
Of course he is. Biro in: 1. Reece Walsh.

While on the subject of dangling positions, lest we forget the prospect of a shift to the halves has also been flashed at Reece. But in this case, I think it might stand a chance of having legs.

He would a turnstile at #6 ATM .
Needs a cpl of years on a horse meat diet . But I could see it in his future with Ezra at 7 .

TMM said in an interview he could play #1 early this season but would struggle physically in the front line .
Walsh no different .

OK !
Herbie is FB then . The other kids can go soothe their egos . LOL .

I`d imagine that FBs would do a slightly different gym and running training regime than a centre .
A little less anaerobic and more aerobic gym work and lots more cardio and distance of running per week .

So then it comes down to planning . How many full backs do the squad need ?
Because their training and diet will need to be modified compared to players in other positions .
To much FB training might weaken other areas needed to play centre .

Conundrum ?
I think you decide now who that will be and commit to training them properly. That would be Walsh unless there’s a massive concern in the pre-season. You’d train Tesi (shudder) as a fullback also for depth.

Herbie, unfortunately, should be developing at centre.

My actual solution would be to move Staggs on and offer Herbie his preferred right side centre spot as a consolation - though you’d want him to commit more than 1 year before doing so and he would be rightfully skeptical.

1. Walsh
2. Oates
3. Cobbo
4. Herbie
5. Mariner

No, dumbass, his father promised the position to Kotoni as a sweetener, then gifted it to his son even after he dudded two trials in that position. Kotoni's name wasn't even raised as a candidate in the preseason. The club made a bit of a fool of him, I thought. Whether he saw it that way he never let on.

Let's be real. Walsh is fullback next season. If Herbie stayed to get a chance at playing fullback - which is the reason he gave in interviews - his reason to stay has been stomped all over. Maybe he'll stay anyway, but we now have two centres who've been thrown these sops, plus another long term centre who's queued right behind Herbie.

It was never promised to him at all stop making things up. It was discussed but he was coming back from an ACL and that set it back and he wasn't able to do the work required in the pre-season.

Agree, even as a Staggs fan i can see the merit in keeping Herbie over him for both value for money and team consistency.

Staggs has been disappointing this year and on his reported salary really needs to deliver regularly as an elite player in his position and that has not happened. To a lesser extent same for Haas (who i am also a fan but like Staggs my fandom is diminishing weekly).

If the NRL was a computer game we would trade the combined Haas and Staggs (and Riki) ~$1.5M for a hooker and, imo, a gun backrower but fear reality won't be that easy...

Herbie needs Manu patience. If Herbie has a healthy year he could easily put himself in the top 5 centres in the game next year. That’s a $6-700k contract. Add to that a possible few weeks at fullback for injury cover etc. And he’s well on his way. Walsh is a lock-in for fullback IMO. Cobbo needs a couple of years of solid progress on the wing or maybe centre if a spot opens up.

+1 Staggs has not impressed me this season .
One game he shrugged Momorovski off consistently . Then SFA .
Best excuse I have is he is on a come back from knee surgery . And will peak next year .

Like I said some where else Selwyn would have scored more tries with Brenko inside him .

The problem is we have no plan B if we get smashed through the middle and Reynolds is left to try and salvage the set, every set.

I’m not discounting his ability to do it, but we’ve all seen he’s been very up and down at times because he’s having to try and do everything and it’s just not working well for him or the team.

If your middle is rolling, a running five-eighth can be a nightmare, but when it’s not, you need a second genuine half otherwise that runner is ineffective. We weren’t going to dominate the top 4 packs (other selections aside) and Kev should’ve realised that and picked a more rounded half rather than a flashy rookie that doesn’t kick
If we get smashed through the middle that tends to be the football game done, I don't buy anything saying we don't have the pack to take on the best we clearly do but it all comes undone easily because they are soft as **** as a collective atm.

I also think giving Mam more responsibility is a bad idea, Confidence is everything for a new footballer to build their game on and if you start moving away from what parts of his game he is confident at with how inexperienced he is, it can lead to a disaster.

We got Reynolds for a reason, not only that TMM is basically helping on that front as well.

But none of it works when there is no platform.
