Cue "the effort was there" press conference.

Worst finish in the history of the club, 25th anniversary no less, hows that for a legacy Griffin.

If thaiday says the effort was there then I will find him and bash him. It doesn't matter if he's 5 times bigger than me. I'll just dance around him for 2 mins and he'll get tired followed by a bashing

I think we've had worse Broncos teams take the field but the difference has been we've always had a Lockyer or a Langer to make the difference when we needed it.

The Few Positives:
Oates, McGuire and McCullough were pretty great. But Macca REALLY needs to up his fitness and play the 80 like almost every other hooker in the comp, I can't fathom how he can be so unfit after so many years in first grade.

As for everything else:
So disappointing. Firstly though, I wanna say that we have had some SEVERELY poorly refereed games this years. Especially in a lot of crucial games, and a lot of those losses were confidence crushers. In no way am I implying had we won a few of those games would we be in much better shape, but they were infuriating nontheless. Tonight was no exception. The amount of milking that went on my Newcastle was LUDICROUS. And yet they can lay on us for 5+ seconds, but because we don't fall over twice, we don't get a penalty. Pretty fucking over the dives and the double standards.

Secondly I also recognize that we have had terrible stability with our backline, whether through injury, suspension, or dumping. But I don't see that one as an excuse. Thaiday doesn't deserve the captaincy, he can't play long enough, he has no direction, and he sure as hell can't talk to referees, he just pisses them off. We gave up a 14 point lead, that's just unacceptable. Reed, as good as he is really needs to use his winger. I can count at least 4 bombed tries over the last couple of games.

I won't get started on the coaching staff. But as for the players...i'm just praying Hodges and YowYeh will heal up in time to make a difference next year with Barba. Hoffman to wing and put Oates in the forwards.

Theres a LOT of work to do.

The most annoying thing for me is how unprofessional we are. Reed could have nearly clinched that win with a simple catch and pass but hogged it, also he got caught out in the first half and didn't support Gillett well enough and could have made the score 20 nil at HT.

He rips shreds off Oates for getting pushed back in the in goal AFTER his own game costing errors.

Thaidays over head pass with 3 mins to go was just rubbish along with his fitness and ill discipline. A captain sets the standards at a club, he is not a captain.

Bringing Wallace on when Macca was killing it, just novice stuff, hook has no feel for the game.

We are 5 years away from being a force if we had the right ppl in charge let alone our current coach and management.

I thought I'd see way more people blaming Ben Hunt tonight. Looks like Thaiday has received most of that tonight. He deserves it for sure. Reed blows a try every other week by hogging it. Basic footy to pass it to your open winger you would think. Worst players worst coaches in the league without doubt. Should just clean out whole club and start again. Barba can be captain.

Finally we can definitively close the book on what has been the worst season in our clubs history.

Usual suspects: Griffin and Kearney need to go, Thaiday needs to be dropped to the bench to give him a kick in the arse, Maranta hopeless...The list goes on. I'm willing to give Hunt the off season to improve his game but I'm nowhere near as confident as I used to be. Signing Barba will help but right now we're unfit, slow. undisciplined penalty magnets.

We were a well disciplined side until the last month I thought. Refs have suddenly smashed us.

You know what, I want to rant, I really do, but where the **** do I start?
I feel like I'm repeating myself after every fucking game.

Thaiday sucks and shouldn't be captain.
Hoffman is useless in attack from fullback.
Hodges is our only dangerous player and now he's missing.
Maranta shouldn't be in first grade.
Our interchange use fucking sucks, 5 minutes for Tasi, replace Macca at the wrong time every week, Thaiday too many minutes... It just sucks.
How useless is our attacking structure? No forwards running in pairs, no support play.
How about our ruck defence? Teams just stroll down the park when playing against us.
Griffin will no doubt say some bullshit about us trying hard and good effort.
Kearney should be sacked as soon as we've played our last game.
We need to go all out to get Kevin Walters, whether that be as head coach or otherwise.
Give Granville a fucking go, enough with this bullshit of playing wannabe 7's as bench hookers.

This season seriously sucks.

We seem to go very well with our starting 13 but as soon as the substitutions start to hit the field we get run over. Lui is looking good taking the ball up now but his defence is diabolical. Same with Tasi.
maybe we are missing Dodds

Were always going to be up against it when a ref decides to end the contest in the first 5 mins of the second half, unbelievable that a ref could be stupid enough to sin bin a captain in an obvious milk and in what should have been a dominant tackle, unfortunately Klein seems to think the game is all about him. Extraordinary that during the first set after losing our captain and coming off our own line the knights were allowed to get away with the exact same infringements in the ruck that had cost us 4 consecutive penalties and a man down.

While not to the extent of last week, tonight was another example of a failure by refs to force players to play the ball where they are tackled, at one stage boyd was allowed to play the ball over 5m from where he was originally tackled, putting massive pressure on the broncos line and catching us short on the outside which led to the knights try that sealed the game.

Parker got a bit of extra attention by the knights and I think it paid off, he failed to make much impact and it really hurt our go forward.

Hoffman showed again why the club has been looking for other options at fb, there has never been a question about his defense, but in attack he continually steps his way across field to the sidelines, taking his support out of play, before running out of room and taking the tackle. In today's game you need more from your fb.

I don't think you can be a successful captain if your own form is consistently down on where it should be, Thaiday has been poor for 2 seasons now. Bennett had to make a tough call in his Broncos career and it defined it and the club, Thaiday is no Wally Lewis, it might be time for a spill.

I thought I'd see way more people blaming Ben Hunt tonight.

Hunt gets away with it cos he has only had a handful of games at 7 this year. The major issues have been there for 23 games now.

That said, Hunt was awful for the 3rd week in a row. Not average, awful. As bad as Wallace has ever been. I'm willing to give him more time but he isn't the saviour in the halves. It probably actually highlights that there is a real game plan/structure/coaching issue in attack. As well as a decent attacking fulllback. No matter who is in the halves, they're failing.

As for the game... Jesus. This had to be th first year I am a season member didn't it. Making it hard to shell out $500+ for next year...

I was going to write a massive rant about how invisible Hunt goes during periods of the game, but I can't be bothered, let's just hope he really steps it up in the off-season and is good in Round 1

Agree with all except this, I think this is the only thing we HAVE improved lately. Our forwards were often running in pairs, and there was some (limited) passing between them. This is promising, but still very, very ordinary IMO.

Hunt had a few shocking moments, like the dropped ball, but he did do some good things. After a full preseason I reckon he'll really start to develop.

Lama Tasi has been a terrible buy. Size is so overrated IMO, Parker, McGuire and Gillett have been our best forwards this year, and none of them are particularly big. I think speed, fitness, footwork and general skills are more important in today's game.
Agree what sucks is Glenn also has those skills you talk about but we are not seeing them. Why ??

I like Hunt, but I dunno about him. He needed to keep playing what he sees in front of him because that was clearly his strongest suit. I hope it was Griffin who told him to take less risks/chances, because if it was Hunt himself, he's in trouble.
