POST GAME Round 25 - Storm vs Broncos

That Boyd try, it was good to see it finally work well.

Milford has been looking for that play all season, he has been working on it with Boyd. Most of the time the defence closes the gap or Milford holds it for just that too long.

But he timed it to perfection. He took on the line, he sucked in the defender which opened the gap and threw an inside pass to Boyd to score a crucial try.

His playmaking and vision is improving.

Thaiday and Boyd: behemoths.

Opacic: breakout game.

Hunt: Looked great except when kicking the ball.

Milf: Classy but not heavily involved.

Gillett: Love this guy. Even when he looks beaten he will bring the ball carrier down with one arm. He's turned into an immense defender.

The rest: Very promising.

Huge stakes next week. Minor Premiership decider, last years grand finalists literally going to war over 4th spot, the Titans looking to cap off a fairytale season by their standards, and the usual clusterfuck for 7th and 8th is underway already.

I think it's hilarious how Smith in particular hates being dominated cos he's so used to being the man in charge, and Cronk gets pissed when he doesn't have half an hour to pass and kick.

As with the Dogs, the ideal game plan (exposing the Storm's weakness) beautifully executed, despite still a little clunky here and there in attack. Our kicking game is no longer our weakness and our kick chase is our real strength, as much as playing for each other, and tackling, or rather hitting and really meaning it. Great stuff.

I thought Gillett was immense in defence yet again, Opacic is special, Roberts is so strong he's a keeper and Milford is set to explode for the finals and as for Hunt, the Titans can keep Ash Taylor. I'll still take Hunt any day.

And finally, at last we are letting the ball do the work and it is really paying off

If you watch the replay, take note of Sammy coming out of the sheds before kick off. He might be a clown and laughing it up at times, but he was deadly serious at that point and absolutely fired up, like I've rarely seen.

Was tremedndous to witness.
I noticed that too. I thought he looked like someone had stolen his lunch out of the work fridge!

Well that was fucking glorious.

We will need to be better to win this thing, there's no doubt. But if we play with that energy, we can beat anyone. We are back.

I said if we won tonight we would take out the premiership. I'm not convinced, but that was a fucking good win - it was very un-Storm-like, but that was also down to our defence as well. Epic stuff, that was our best game of the season, full stop. Where the **** has this been?? I don't care though; as long as it stays until the end of the year...

Going to single out Hunt for props tonight too. A few here will probably bag a couple of his errors tonight, but generally he was fucking brilliant IMO. Full credit to him. His energy really lifted the guys around him and he always looked dangerous. There's not many in the comp I'd trade him for.
One of the Fox commentators nailed it re Hunt. He needs to trust his instinct more. Like that grubber fail - he seems to go for something, hesitates and second guesses himself and this is when it goes bad.

If Thaiday and Boyd keep this form up, picking the captain next year is going to be a nightmare for Bennett

I noticed that too. I thought he looked like someone had stolen his lunch out of the work fridge!

This is the plan for the rest of the season.

Steal his lunch.

Piss him off.

And tell him if he meets the criteria set for him in the game, they'll shout him all you can eat at Red Hill.

DON'T MOVE SAMMY! That's his position out wide. Dominated that game for us tonight when we had the ball in hand.
Line speed was awesome, and that's were the game was won. What's most exciting is that it's something we didn't even have last year.

Fantastic win. A hungry win. I can't even pick a man of the match, that was such a great team performance.

Super impressed with Thaiday, Hunt and Boyd. The forwards were great too. Only worrying thing was right edge defence. They looked shaky quite often. I dunno if there's a lot of trust between Gillett and Roberts, but they can get caught out a few times.

The bookies odds for us reaching the Grand Final have literally halved. 6.50 in to 3.00

Does anyone think Glenn could be our lock next year if Sammy keeps up this form in the seccond row. I've been loving Glenns work up the middle of late and I think he is worth more than ~30 mins off the bench. I'm not forgetting Arrow either, I can see these 2 rotating between 13 and the bench next year, they are great quality and their hard work ethic will surely bring the best out of each other. And I think we are 1 quality prop short of shifting Blair or McGuire to lock as I think alot of people would liked to have gone with.
