PRE-GAME Round 3 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

Nice bs by the media. Just trying to stir up more drama regarding Walters giving the halves a spray. Just because he was firm with them doesn’t mean they get dropped after week 2.
I’m just hoping this week we see better rotation for the forwards. Give riki a rest ffs and hopefully turpin gets a breather too

You sound like you are stuck in a time warp in the 1950's and men shouldn't show weakness.

We have too many young players who have had way too much put on them. The management of players is crucial to their development. It not about molly coddling them either, its about knowing when they need to have a spell and when they don't. We clearly have players who need a spell.
I tend to agree with this assessment.

Blokes like Carrigan, young forwards generally should be played in shorter spells until seasoned. I don't think that's changed.

I'd love to see Lodge and Kennedy start proceedings and even when Haas is back have guys like him, Carrigan and our young forwards come on to give high energy short power bursts. In the old days we'd have older hard nuts start and younger eager beavers looking to establish themselves come on after 20 odd minutes.

We'd have guys like Webcke and Civo start matches and then guys like the young bull Parker would replace one of them. Meyers, Carlaw, Webb, guys like that looking to make names for themselves but always a couple of experienced hard nuts to start.

I like it, whoever is playing worse out of Milford/Croft gets replaced during the game. Keep the pressure high on all 3. If they're doing okay, Turpin gets a 15 minute spell.
Milford is carrying a hamstring strain but it's not being spoken about anywhere I can see. I think he's trying to hide it but I have no proof. Well, nothing concrete just from watching him try to accelerate the other night. If anyone watches the first 5 minutes of the second half I think you could spot him clutching at it.

No way I'd let him play without a thorough examination.

Yes please. I don't think KW used his bench well last match. If you have a prop on the bench you get every bit of energy they have.

This really highlights the problems we have, if we have a half who's not firing and is lame to boot, at what point do we pull the trigger? If he can't recapture the "twinkle toes" that he was glorified for, particularly not even having a hope of doing so with a bung hamstring, what's the point in playing him? Not like his kicking game is lighting the world on fire, nor does he lead by example or offer anything in defence. Categorically, he is boat anchor material.

Kw playing chess. He’s fucking him up for whoever takes him off our hands next year.

I admit to disliking what he produces on the field. I'm definitely biased when it comes to Milford. That's the player, I have no idea what sort of guy he is never having met him.

I have seen him play plenty of times though as have most on here and I'm talking about times when he has been fit. I was critical of his pitiful attempts at tackling in the past and it's been that way for years. Those two tackles( barely qualify as tackles) leading up to Fifita's second try are replicas of hundreds of the exact same attempts. He hasn't changed and will not put his body on the line and I wager plenty of his team mates would say the same. I say, this must be his last chance but I wouldn't give him that chance without a fitness test.

So if we lose this game, do the sack Kevvie threads start?

No. He’s doing the right thing. If anything he should send more young guys back to q cup and let Copley etc take the heat, cop some losses in a season where we are no hope anyway and let the young guys develop.

Kev is allowed to lose if there is a clear plan in process. Buckling to pressure and bringing Dearden and Oates in after 2 losses is when you’d start to raise questions about whether Kev is in over his head or not.

I wouldn't go praising him just yet.

Dearden trained at hooker and halfback in training.

Yeah not sure what that’s about. Maybe he just wants the halves to be able to help with some of the hooker duties to take some load off of Turpin without needing to use a sub. There’s not reason Turpin can’t slowly get back onside while he catches his breath after a defensive set, while Turpin shovels the ball off to hit ups working our way out of our own half. 💁‍♂️

The fact the Kev made Milford and Croft swap sides was purely because milfords horrendous defence. That to me automatically says Croft should be ahead of Milford.
I already feel for Dearden, he will be coming in under a fair bit of pressure, none of it his own doing.
Milford has defended on the left his entire career, not sure why kevvie thought it was smart to have him on the right in the first place...

That was before the team was named ... i think tomorrows training will be a better indication of Kevvies thoughts

I can’t remember but I think it was first half. I replayed it, it was him. It was so dumb because we were their side of the halfway.

Croft is really flawed but he never goes missing, he is always trying even if falling short and yet he is the one always in the firing line simply because of Milf’s wage and the fact he can kick further. I feel sorry for Croft.
Found the kick to which you referred. 28 minutes in. It turned out poorly but the idea was right, a chip over was absolutely on but he just didn't time it well. It needed to be done a half second earlier and a bit more firmly but it really wasn't a bad play.

The other thing was it wasn't in our half but precisely 38 metres out from the Titans try line. Right part of the field but miistimed slightly. Funny thing though, Milford did the exact same thing in the previous set on the opposite side and also on the third tackle! He hit his cleanly BUT unlike Croft who was aiming for open pasture Milford chipped it straight in to a defenders arms!! Now that was a total fuckup, it was never on! 25th min.
