PRE-GAME Round 3 - Broncos vs Bulldogs

he is more reliable than your hero
I'm not fan of Badel, I just don't get why he gets your panties in a bunch. He's no worse than any of the other sports reporters. Garry's been consistently wrong about Dearden the last few weeks. No big deal. He's not a mind reader.

Btw, Garry is a Warrior's fan who loves Gorden Tallis.

Found the kick to which you referred. 28 minutes in. It turned out poorly but the idea was right, a chip over was absolutely on but he just didn't time it well. It needed to be done a half second earlier and a bit more firmly but it really wasn't a bad play.

The other thing was it wasn't in our half but precisely 38 metres out from the Titans try line. Right part of the field but miistimed slightly. Funny thing though, Milford did the exact same thing in the previous set on the opposite side and also on the third tackle! He hit his cleanly BUT unlike Croft who was aiming for open pasture Milford chipped it straight in to a defenders arms!! Now that was a total fuckup, it was never on! 25th min.
To me the reason why it was a bad play is because he went through with the kick despite how close to the line he was... Given he went through with it suggests he either premeditated it and then still went through with it despite it not being on, recognized it too late to execute correctly or didn't realise the defensive line was up in his face quick enough to hold onto it.

I believe it was also on 3rd tackle and about 35m out so even though the play may have been the right one ... I'm not sure it was unless the fullback was completely out of position... but he needed to recognise the defence and hold onto the ball. It was also a period in the game where we had failed to complete a decent set in a long time. I believe the previous set was a terrible early kick from Milf that was intended for Coates, except it was too deep, appeared to be poorly communicated to the outside men, early in the tackle count and the fullback was waiting for it anyway... we needed a steady set and a good end of set kick.

Given we were inside the 40m and early'ish in the tackle count we could've played the set out got within the 20m and been able to execute a better end of set

Carrigan:

“Tommy played well for Souths on the weekend, I didn’t see the game but I heard the conditions were terrible. He is a competitor and clubs are after him for a reason. Whoever ‘Kevvie’ picks in the seven, it’s ‘Crofty’ at the moment, but if Tommy gets the chance in the side I’m sure he will take it with both hands.”

“Friday night was really embarrassing, there is no way to sugarcoat it. They were all pretty soft tries we conceded (against the Titans) and a lot of it comes back to attitude and one-off decisions. When you put yourself under that much pressure, it doesn‘t matter who you are, you are going to be able to score some points. We are two games into a new season, we had some issues there (in defence) on the weekend and we have to own that as a forward pack."

“When it comes to executing on game day, we‘ve missed the mark. We haven’t spoken how many games we have lost in the past, but we’re 0-2 (this season) and we are looking to get off the mark against the Doggies on Saturday night. I‘m sick of not winning."

That was bad, there was also a play at the 10th minute where Milford sucks Fogarty in giving Croft the numbers on the outside but instead of playing out the back he gives it to Glenn who is well and truly covered.

I'm not saying it was well done but it was a good play but again, you're dead right and he should have recognized he was a bit too close. Milford's effort was never on though even if it was intended for Coates or whomever.

The score was only 6-4 at the time so we were right in it and I'm making allowance for the fact that it was extremely humid within the stadium and it is just the start of the season, for many teams it takes time to become a slick unit. I can see us getting better as the season progresses.

Mmmm, yet he was third highest in the team for post contact metres. Wonder how that happened.
So long as you don’t have to hit the line hard as a ball runner, I guess anything else is alright, eh?

Yes, it could/should have gone out the back to Coates. Mind you, those sorts of things happen every single game, even to the greats but I agree, how nice it could have been. No guarantee of a try of course but definitely the better option.

Look, he made 8 line breaks and 53 odd pcm so clearly his method works better than the 'run into a brick wall method'. It might not suit you but gaining ground, creating half chances and not getting smashed works for him.

Be a hell of a pass if it went to Coates considering he was on the other side of the field.

The pass was on for Farnworth and Mead would have been tough to stop with that amount of room.

8 line breaks in one game you say? Wow, that sounds amazing... Can someone please let the NRL know?

Oh, my bad. Regardless, you're assertion that he should have passed out back was correct. Not like you to be funny.

I think it was 18 linebreaks. My bad.
Well I don’t need to tell you how important accuracy is... 😂

If he were actually making 8 linebreaks a game you’d never hear a peep on the forum about him, except for everyone singing his praises, given even the Roosters back 3 combined couldn’t manage that many when they flogged the Tigers on the weekend.

But unfortunately the complete opposite is actually true.
