PRE-GAME Round 3 - Storm vs Broncos

Yeah if kahu is out the goal kicking is a concern. Milford can do it but he's not the ideal choice. One of the plus sides of benji being our utility is his goals kicking when he is on.

Storm have been good, but neither team they came up against had any real threat in attack. We actually have a functional attack, and if they spend the game on their side of the field, I say we win.

Broncos by 10

We have more than a chance to win this. They have their best prop on the sideline and we should be at close to full strength unless gillo has to sit out.

JBrom named in the 21 as expected... so I reckon he'll play.

Also don't think we're at full strength with tpj likely to sit out with the ankle injury and Kahu playing with a cork and unable to goal kick.

For me the goal kicking is a huge loss as milf is more like a 60% goal kicker and that will hurt in a tight game against Melbourne.

Really hope we come out on the offensive like last year and get in front early

If it's just a cork shouldn't Kahu be sweet? I'd say he will get confirmed to play tomorrow when he pulls up from the session.

Yeah Bromwich dislocated his thumb 2 weeks ago... He'll play

Firebirds did a session today with Corvo, Richards and Hodges.

They did really well. Few penalties in there for getting things wrong.

I think Kahu will play, but won't kick goals. He would still be hampered by the cork as well

It was a cork which lead to a really badly bruised hip. Bone bruises can easily keep you out 1-2 weeks.

What's the deal with no Nikorima in the squad? Was a game-breaker last season.

And what's with Wayne and speedy hookers. Granville, Parcell..

Not entirely sure @ethos, a common theory is that Nikorima is being groomed for the halfback role following the departure of Ben Hunt. So instead of playing off the bench, he's receiving game time in the Intrust Super Cup to develop his skills and get some experience in the position.

As for your second point, it's worth pointing out that Wayne wasn't apart of the club when Granville signed with the Cowboys. In fact he commented on it when he first came to the club and was disappointed that the club had let talent like him go. In the case of Parcell, I'm sure Wayne would have liked to have kept him but the Nikorima brothers were seen as the priority. Unfortunately Sydney came to the table with a lucrative offer for Jayden, so the Broncos ended up losing both Parcell and Jayden. In fairness, I don't think Matt would have stayed in Brisbane for long. Considering he was about to turn 23 when he signed the contract, he needed to think about getting a regular first grade spot and that wasn't guaranteed at the Broncos.

He's playing 6 to get game time. Watching the Norths' game last night he is settling but not going crazy or anything. He isn't taking much responsibility.

80 minutes
9 runs
69 meters
1 try assist
1 line break assist
3 kicks
85m
17 tackles
1 missed
1 ineffective

He's enthusiastic and lots of support play.

Pretty disappointing by guys in the ISC- Fai only played limited time off the bench, Benji and Mead not playing, Nikorima going alright.

Seve has been strong- 254m over the two games, 25 tackles with only two misses. Set up a nice try against Tweed.

Still don't see an issue with it.

Like golden point, the team lists aren't about the sanctity of the competition, rather it's about the fans and the media. Gives us something to chat about instead of going round, hitting our cars and exclaiming how much we hate those Melbourne players.

And y'know what? If Bromwich plays, that's a positive because it gives them one less thing to complain about when the Broncos beat them.

I just don't see the point of changing it from how it was. Obviously even with the old system the coach could (and often they would) pull a swifty, but at least 95% of the time the team named was who was expected to run out. With this new one, most teams just seem to be naming their "strongest possible" 17 out of all the players that may be available, even if they're incredibly unlikely.

The way it's going, teams may as well just do what they do for rep teams - name a 21-man squad in alphabetical order, no positions. Which I hate. People might like the speculative nature but not me.
