POST GAME Round 4 - Broncos vs Cowboys

the criticism/observation is justified, the implications are extreme

so what, lets say it doesnt improve markedly in the short term? danny mcdowell, GI on his way? try to buy taylor back? KNik full time? what our options? drop the **** coz he cant kick?

milf sounds like a muppet on camera but i wouldnt tell him to piss off because he isnt the prototype perfect poster boy. sack macca coz he isnt an attacking hooker, retire parker because he compromises our ability to negotiate with gillett and cant kick goals?

hunts 26 yes, but only 2+ years into FG really. feel like he's earnt some.good will and patience from the supporters idve thought

Sorry mate but you lost me there.

Hunt has been a half for most of his career with Brisbane yet unfortunately his kicking game is mostly bad and doesn't seem to be improving. Given he's 26 I've got doubts as to whether it ever will. What that means for his position in the side I dunno, Bennett will determine that. But it can make winning awfully difficult at times.

This is spot on.

The way Morgan was used especially in the 2nd half was a real worry. They clearly saw we are struggling with our left side defence and exploited it.

As @Porthoz said, we lack an organiser in the middle - we did run out of ideas. Thurston is an organizer which is why is so good. The Dogs have James Graham to organize their middle along with Mbye.

As win is a win, yes, and this one was so sweet, but I worry about our 2nd half where we scrambled so well to stay in the match but looked short on attacking options other than throw it to Milford (and Roberts).

And why was our left side defence weak? We had Kahu with only one good arm. Not Jack Reed bad, where he struggles to get full strangth, his arm was effectively limp and unresponsive. Good on the Cowboys to target it, but nothing any team from U16s above wouldn't do. It shows one bad side of the reduced interchange, and that's that a lot of games are going to be decided by random injuries. Maybe they'll look at a way of fixing that without it becoming exploitative.

Come to think of it I feel that the Cowboys are just whinging just to take the attention of their loss.

I think it's pretty obvious why they whinge, because it gave them a free pass all the way to the GF last year. Every ref was shit scared of becoming the perpetrator of the next big injustice against the Cowboys. Let's hope that the NRL knows that the debt was paid back in spades with last years trophy and duly ping the **** out of them wherever justified.

I never said you said we aren't a great team, why on earth do you keep bringing stuff into the discussion that wasn't part of it? It just dilutes the point.

You said that Bennett's game plan cannot work without an organiser. You then said that our current halves aren't organisers (are both running 5/8's) and something needs to change. Therefore, you without a doubt claimed that Bennett's game plan cannot work with our halves.

I honestly don't know if you are being serious.
You accuse me of bringing stuff into the discussion, only to go on and misquote me, and I'm not serious?

My comment about us being a great team is in response to your "how did we get to within one tackle of a premiership" line.

Furthermore, I did not say Bennett's plan cannot work without an organiser. I said it requires one to work better. That's a big difference!

Yes, they targeted it to good effect in the 2nd half. Maybe cos that's where they went in the GF to some good effect, and from what I saw, the left side defensive structure was a little fragmented, and our right hand side is tight as a drum?

No, cut the crap.

You said "it requires a good controlling halfback" requires. You said nothing about 'to work better'. Stop moving the goal posts whenever you are questioned.

It definitely does not mean it cannot work.

You knew what I meant, but it wouldn't have the same effect without the selective reading, semantics picking, selective interpretation, and selective answers.

Why bother discussing anything with you?

Jack Reed likely to return against the Titans, Jordan Kahu likely out with the shoulder injury he sustained against the Cowboys.

p.s - I'm watching the Magpies vs Jets game, Caleb Timu is an NRL player. He's got strength and skill, really like the look of him.

tbh i am so sick of seeing hate towards ben hunt hee has been really good in thr opening rounds just his kicking game is off leave the poor bloke alone

I will 'hate' him till I take my final breath on this earth.

The GF was OURS until he stuffed up. (nope, I will not move on. EVER.)

Good line and hands for that try. Fai looked strong carting the ball up too, especially considering he's a 20's regulations.

Expected to see more from Seve and Ese'ese though.

I wonder what Bennett's current forwards pecking order is, if a bench spot opens up?

Ese'ese, Timu, Molo, Fai, Arrow, Boyce, Funaki, Greinke, Whitchurch even.

I'd personally like to see ese'ese or Timu, but I see Boyce as Bennetts choice or even Molo who's a known (albeit I think disappointing) commodity in first grade.

Timu looked awesome. I turned that game off because of all the dropped ball from both sides.

I thought at the ground that Feldt knocked on and, after watching the replay today, I haven't changed my mind.

How good did eden play though! ? Had a great game

I really liked the way he attacked the short kicks from the Cowboys. One of his efforts fed right into Milford's try and I was really pleased for him.

Unfortunately that was the peak of his performance. While Kahu didn't give him much support some of his efforts in defence were poor and he struggled to get himself involved in the contest.

He didn't embarrass himself but gee he's got to improve on it.

His tackling came close to losing us the game. Put your body on the line ffs.

It just wasn't acceptable for a first grade player. I don't ever want to see those piss poor attempts again.

He did good in everything else except that.

Kahu came up with some piss poor attempts, as well.

I think this game just shows how important Reed is to our left side defence.

Counting the days until Reed & Oates return.

Most of the time I saw him defend he was in no mans land with Kahu already run in and thrown himself into a missed tackle so it Eden vs at least 2 every time.
