POST GAME [Round 5, 2022] Broncos vs Roosters

Was coming in to say this. I feel like he went a long way to locking down a bench spot. Good runs, solid defense, nothing flashy, just a good contribution.

Can't fault the effort all round. Execution was at about eighty percent overall, higher in the first half, lower in the second - convert some of those chances we bombed and we're golden. But that's us more often than not recently. Success rate was a lot higher than the last two weeks, so that's something. Build on this and the eight is still a real possibility.

Welcome back, Staggs. Glad we persisted with Cobbo. How they both get a confidence boost out of this. reynolds is still finding his feet but I kind of already love him. Let's hope we get a lot more of this good Corey Oates.

We've got the Panfers, I reckon.

If we can back it up we have a chance.

I think we have to abandon the Tesi at fullback experiment now. Either play Herbie, or tough it out with Cobbo there.

And just on Corey, he has been the player of the season so far. He has played with heart and guts. I think its his last year here probably and its going to be sad to see him go.

Watching the press conference I kinda think Capewell should have been the captain. Queenslander and just seems a bit more passionate

Thing i didnt like from Locky after the game was him basically telling the rest of the comp how to shut down Kotoni. He basically said he was a one trick pony and just jamming up on him shuts him down, he needs to add more to his game and being passive in defence like the Rorters plays into his hands. Its probably true, but you dont want a club legend and current board member saying that in public imo.
He’s a channel 9 commentary goon now.

sounds exactly like something Lockyer would say. bloke cares more about his media job then football job with broncos and it sucks.

all he cares about is sounding smart and winning the approval of nsw media very sad to see our biggest club legend become what he is.

Could be me reading more into this, but when Fatty said we should move Tesi and play Cobbo at fullback, he pretty much confirmed Cobbo is moving there and didnt really say a lot about Tesi apart from he has a lot to work on with his positions. Really sounded like Cobbo will be fullback long term, not Tesi.

Nah I watch Fox and have to hear Ennis' constant biased commentary against us all the time with old boy Corey Parker adding in his criticism too
Ennis and Greg Alexander are awful. Less of them and more of Vossey please. Don’t need someone adding their two cents trying to seem smart. Just want real commentary.

Did Manu maintain control in his first try? He even looked sheepish.

I get the impression the Tesi selection is short term pain for long term gain. He’s taking the fall while Cobbo develops on the wing. It’ll happen eventually. Cobbo had a great hit out tonight so you’d probably give a couple more weeks to build confidence before shifting him, as tempting as it is.

30 minutes in, Niu and Turps are still excellent, Turps has even made some decent runs. Niu has been in everything, a lot to like. Judging by comments here, his second half must have been horrendous.

James is bringing the grub, I don't like it with the neck thing but unfortunately, this is what you've got to do these days, always results in a penalty.

You'll notice a big difference in the service quality when Paix comes on

Ok wow, what a first half. That was fantastic and kind of justice that the Roosters bombed the try.

Everyone was great in that half and the bench did better than I thought they would, good impact by Jensen particularly. Paix has been solid but not spectacular. Staggs, man, AMAZING! I love Oatesy, please keep him at the club. Reynolds knee, wowsers that was heart in mouth stuff. Great, great half.

He’s doing his job - the one that pays the bills. I very much doubt he’s saying anything the other 15 clubs wouldn’t already know.

Stop there!

Must admit, i'm not a fan of Parker and havent been after how i heard he treated some of the younger guys in his time at Brisbane. Seems to have a massive chip on his shoulder after how he got treated when he was coming through and always got the impression he really didnt like that the young players coming through in his time didnt have it so bad.
