Good kick chase and lots of scoots from dummyhalf up the middle of the ruck ... we have to turn around the Dragons forwards.

Should be a great game, Dragons are playing well again.

Wallace needs to lead from the front again, as he's been doing of late .... and Gillett needs to stay on the bench and come on for that massive impact he has been giving lately.

Gagai the likely replacement for Yow Yeh - you'll be able to catch him on the QCup coverage today, Redcliffe v Ipswich. He's been Redcliffe's best over the first 2 games this year.

We will need to be up for this game. The Dragons have a pretty good pack and they seem to be in good form. We can beat them but it will be no walk in the park.

A strong start will go a long way to winning this.

Gagai has been moved to fullback for Redcliffe today

Got no idea how this one will go. St George have grinded out a couple of excellent wins this year (Tigers and Manly). They're a tough team and I expect they'll try and put us under massive pressure.

On another note there's a roll call of the 1992 premiership team before the game (yeah this was the game that was apparently being played on the Sunday afternoon to celebrate out first premiership). That's enough to get me there a bit earlier (unlike the Tina Turner impersonator who's apparently been lined up).

Some people are really underrating the Dragons. We've been starting poorly all year so far, and the Dragons are a team that might not allow us to come back should we do so again.

Gagai just got the channel 9 man of the match today too, so he's certainly doing everything possible to push for that wing spot. Can't posssible see Copley getting it ahead of him. IMO Gagai has a lot of talent and will really shine this year with the extended oppurtunity that he will get providing he doesn't mess up.

:handshake:

The Dragons won't make anywhere near as many silly mistakes as the Knights or Rabbitohs did.

They play to a plan and are very good at doing so. Will be an extremely close match IMO.

The dragons played crap early on in the year.

Also, It's also time Gillett was in the starting 13. Enough stuffing around. Playing him from the bench is like playing Inglis or Slater off the bench. Bloody stupid.

The question is would he be as effective starting and when he gets replaced would that replacement then bring the same lift that Gillett does when he comes on?.

Leave things as they are IMO. Start tough and solid like we do then bring on the money man.

Gillett could easily start IMO but him on the bench is working and I am happy to leave it at that at this stage. We can't start everyone.

Agree with the two posts above. Coming off the bench seems to imply "not good enough to start" but I don't think it should be that way. Gillett would probably go well in the opening softening up period, but that doesn't really play to his main strengths. When you've got so many top class backrowers to choose from you can afford to be a bit picky as to when they're on the field.

I'm happy with the way Gillett is being used at the moment, and I think he's probably playing as many minutes off the bench as he would if he was starting.

favourable situation for the Dragons in this one imo ... Playoff revenge + Broncos off a physical match with a lot of travel that would have taken a bit of physical and mental energy out of them ..

wasnt the dragons/manly game quite physical as well (didn't see it). we got back friday night albeit late so we'd have the extra day to recover.

broncs verse dragons games at suncorp have always been great contests. looking forward to it!

I think the Broncos had the weekend off so that should freshen them up a bit. The game against Souths wasn't physical in the forwards more for Wallace who got hammered

In my view, you have your key strike players on the field when it's tactically sound to do so. Gillett is a weapon in defence not just in attack. He not only reads the play so well, he hits in defence, and I reckon Gillett could well have covered Inglis when he strolled through Norman and Reed to set up Souths first try.

If the bench is for impact players, then T'eo belongs there. I'd rather Gillett's mobility and strength in defence, especially on the edges, in the first 20 minutes than any of our back rowers.

I'd like both Hunt and Gillett to start this week.
