POST GAME Round 5 - Titans vs Broncos

I still don't agree, but that's fine. No offense, but I'll back Bennett to know when the best time is to showcase our attack, just like he did last year (Rabbitohs game).

No offence taken, and I too have Faith in Bennett (Oh no! will FiB suddenly appear on this Forum?) ... as long as he doesn't let Gillett go that is.

I guess all I am saying is every team knows we have genuine game breakers in Milford, Roberts Oates just to name at least 3 and I reckon there's more, and, we have shown in the last 2 games what that can mean when Roberts gets involved and, well, we all know what Milford can do, and, every other team knows how hard it is, if not impossible to shut down those weapons... and... I just want to see Milf and Roberts and Oates just as 3 examples, get a lot more good ball.

Bring it on

Went to the game last night and thought it was a good game... both teams showed lots of spirt and played some good footy. I dont think the Broncs are far off putting a big score on somebody... the second half lapses of concentration by BHunt and Gillette were unfortunate with a bit of luck going to the Titans. Ben had a much better game with taking a bit more control, it looked like Milf had a quiet game but his defense was great. Jet Roberts is really quick.. even after knees in the back which slowed him down he could still turn it on when needed. I dont think Kahu is right yet but he will get better. Poor ol Hoffman looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights but young Ashley and Mead looked very good.. the Titans will not be wooden spooners this year. We allowed way to many offloads but Wayne will address that. Overall it looked to me that the Broncs had the game covered and never looked like losing. Once Hunt, Milf, Roberts and Boyd click properly we should start getting some bigger scores. Forwards were great again so I am confident we will get better as the season goes on.
Congrats guys and thanks for a very entertaining game.

We had quite a few opportunities and we blew a lot of them. Taia's tries were merely lapses in concentration from where I was sitting. The best things about this team is we are winning games when we are far from our best. I think we can trust Wayne again to get the boys in the right spot to make a run for it.

If I may go slightly off-topic, I saw something weird last night. Chris Walker was buying tickets outside Gate B pre-game and he then spent the whole second half sitting on the sideline talking to Freddy Fittler.

So it was Dumb & Dumber part 3.

If I adopt a cricket analogy, the Broncos remind me of a batsman who smashes a century on one day and then comes out the next day and wants to belt them around again without getting his eye in again.

We are trying to play like we did at the back end of last year without establishing a good foundation.

We're letting teams back into games when we go all harlem globetrotters.

We need to simplify what we are doing for a couple of games. Let a few balls go outside off stump. Push a few singles.

Top post mate, you've nailed my thoughts exactly.

We're starting off every game with great intent and desire, mostly playing smart by sticking with our pet plays, and playing the percentages.

Once we reach a comfortable lead though, the lads seem to think they can do away with the game plan and start playing silly buggers. They're focus goes out the window, and our style becomes a lot more risky and off the cuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a bit of flair and eccentricity, but as soon as the opposition shows any sign of getting back in the game, then that's when you need to buckle down and go back to what was working.

Admittedly, we do seem to be slowly learning - as I think @Big Pete mentioned, our kick and chase helped us win back momentum a few times last night.

What I do like, is that I'm heading into every match not hoping to win, but expecting to win. We have so much strike-power all over the park, we just need to keep the desire and effort there for the full 80 minutes and it'll be near impossible to break us down.

He was in the Broncs sheds at half time too

He's on Insta with Greenberg, Fittler, Bennett and Parker and the team sheds after the game in his "Cautious Chris" persona.

I think most of the time these guys don't just have golden passes to wander in through the media gates. They still get in for free, but their pass is pre-organised and they just rock up to a ticket box, "should be a ticket for Chris Walker", scan through the turnstiles like everyone else.

How good is Boyd playing? He's charging the ball back better than I've ever seen him go. Those Surrender calls are few & far between. Calls for him playing 1 in origin aren't as ridiculous as they once sounded.

I feel like there has been some Space Jam style, skill stealing between Boyd and Kahu over the last few weeks.

Boyd has been one of the Broncos better players.

Get a load of these for numbers.

19 Carries, 191m, 1 Try Assist (1 LBA) and 5 Tackle Breaks.

My only concern with him is his ability to get to the ball in the in-goal. He's been caught out on a few occasions and it's starting to become an unpleasant trend for him.

What about Vossy's classy call of "DO YOU STILL THINK BOYD SHOULD BE THE AUSTRALIAN FULLBACK WAYNE?!" after Tedesco scored his first.

Vossy has lost it, I can't believe I used to be such a massive fan of him.

Last week he was running them full kamikaze K Hunt style. Not quite as agrressive on impact this week but still not wasting any metres available. Remember Norman at fullback? One step.. another step... stand there a bit... get tackled, cower, and submit like Sam The Massive Samoan just hugged you in the prison showers. On that, apparently Norman's leaving Parra because they won't agree to his $800k/yr request. Source Triple M, so hmmmm.

Norman is a lot better than what he was with us, but I wouldn't pay him even close to that amount. $500k seems fair.

Meh I would still go for Tedesco. Boyd has been playing very well at fullback but Tedesco has been absolutely on fire. He is busting tackles, scoring sensational tries at big moments, coming up with try savers etc. He has been the best fullback across the first 5 rounds. If the Australian team was picked tomorrow I would have no problems with Tedesco getting picked at fullback.

I don't have anything against Tedesco and could live with his selection in the Test team, but there was no need for Voss to tear down another player and coach like that, especially when it wasn't a match-winning play (remind me, did Tedesco even win?).

Voss did take that to far I agree with that. I've actually found him annoying at times this year his over exaggerations over anything is getting very annoying.
