PRE-GAME Round 6 - Broncos v Panthers

Confused - much.

I admit it was a pleasant surprise hearing about Milford because like everyone else I heard KW in the presser. Milfords defence had improved for the last two weeks but that's all that had changed. Watching the game on playback might have soured him regarding any instructions he'd given Milford maybe ?

And long may it continue. Kevvie is doing a first class job of keeping the media guessing. They're the ones who can cause untold damage to a club and savagely rip a coaches' career to shreds. So Kevvie is doing a splendid job of just giving them enough rope to hang themselves.

Tell'em nothing,
Tak 'em nowhere.

It's Kevvie's mantra, and unless you have the best interests of the club at heart you'll get nothing straight from our coach.
Look at my son he’s the only one in step. Spin it any way you want and nothing wrong with being positive.
But results will always tell the story and ours isn’t a good read no matter how you look at it.

Yes there may well be reasons for a change of mind or heart. However if your boss asked you to pull your finger out and then publicly espoused that you did your best job and days later sacked you because he thought you hadn’t. Confusing.

That’s not how rugby league works mate, you can’t have superstars in every position. You must have the players like Capewell and S’ua that play consistently and tackle and communicate well. We don’t have that. We had the worst middle third defence the modern day era has ever seen last year but yet some of you on here thinks our forward pack is fine. Come on people.
How are second rowers going to fix our problems in the spine.

We dont have halves to control a game or set up plays. We dont have a ball playing fullback which is basically a death sentence in this day and age. Turpin hasn't kicked on at all.

If you dont prioritise that you condemn this club to years in the bottom 8.

You need to gradually bring in the players you need. We need a second-rower or two, we need an experienced prop or two and we need a centre or two, that is in addition to the glaring weaknesses in the spine. Remember, we have Riki and Piakura moving forward but both are absolute rookies. Glenn and Teo will likely retire / be let go, so you need at least one experienced second-rower. Both Capewell and Su'A are available and seemingly gettable.

At this point in time, there is one halfback available and we need to get him too. There is no hooker available that we need, not even B.Smith. There are also no gun fullbacks available, so you target a young guy from another club (my preference is Hammer) or promote from within (Farnworth). We likely have a 6 currently in Staggs or if he stays, Dearden. Turpin also needs to be upgraded but no one is available at present to target, so he will have to wait. Plus, aside from Grant, there is no other 9 I'm interested in, so I hope we really prioritise keeping our gun kid coming through if he is as good as many say he is. Turpin/Paix will do in the meantime or go for the guy from England. Regardless, don't go all in on B.Smith, it will be a waste of money.

Right now, two second-rowers, which we need, are available and we SHOULD be targeting them provide they don't break the bank account.

Milford is still our best 5/8th at the moment and isn't the reason why we are losing. But I do have to admit he isn't really helping us win either and dropping him might help him in the long run. I am just glad it takes out the pass to milf and hope he does something" after 1-out hit ups that go nowhere approach we have been running with for 6 years. Sure we can hate his bombs but we wouldn't see so many if we ended up close to the try line more often. We can't make it out of our own half most of the time and dropping Milford isn't going to fix that. I hope I am wrong but we are going to get stomped on Thursday.

From all the talk it seems as though Kev has put a very simple game plan in place and is trying to rebuild fundamentals but Milford (and the team in general) are not executing or following the game plan. I think Kev needs to get players in that will stick the plan so the team can build off of it. All the talent in the world won’t help anyone if no one can stick to the game plan, and unfortunately for Milf, the halves are the biggest part of game successful attacking game plans.

I don’t care if we lose but any sign of a plan would be an improvement. If that means Croft and Dearden meekly attempting to follow it with their limited abilities instead of
milf ignoring it and sometimes his talent causing things to happen than I’m happy for that sacrifice.

You can slot players into a game plan and continue to build on it. You can’t for example sign Reynolds to replace Milf and say “be like Milford but less shit”.

Team list tuesday! Lets see what suprises we get today

Won't be any major surprises. Maybe a couple different players named but it will be the same old shit. Kevie has so little to work with from this woeful roster.

My latest guess (Sorry but I have a need for lists!!! MOAR LISTS!!!!):

1. Isaako
2. Mead
3. Kennar
4. Arthars
5. Coates
6. Croft
7. Dearden
8. Haas
9. Turpin
10. Lodge
11. Glenn (c)
12. Pangai Jr
13. Carrigan

14. Asiata
15. Flegler
16. Kennedy
17. Riki

18. Paix
19. Bullemor
20. Piakura
21. Farnworth

Glenn will be gone next year as will Te’o I suspect, maybe one or two others in a clean out as well? We have plenty of props, but we are short on second rowers, IMHO.

We are particularly short in origin quality second-rowers...
Mmmm, probably right I suppose. Personally I'd like to see TPJ and Haas partner in the second row because I think Haas is a bit wasted. I think he could become one of the best ever offloaders who simultaneously make great ground ( not neccesarily both at the same time ) I think Haas could be great at both of those things.

Isn't Dufty unsigned? I thought he was available 22.

Yep , look at the Roosters and storm . Domination starts with your spine, get that sorted and you're well on your way.
We have the forwards and backs to be great we just need the spine and some consistency over all positions .

Not to worried about the rest

Yeah he is, I just don't rate him as highly as others do. Plus, I think Hammer offers potentially more and will be cheaper. I'm also pretty confident Farnworth would be a gun there, so I just don't feel the need to chase Dufty.

Dufty is good and supports well, though quite poor on set plays, plus I doubt Dragons will let him leave, they will try lock him up.

He has also had motivation issues in the past that could be a grenade for us in our current situation.

Would prefer to look for more resilient players.

It's not like the Dragons would have a choice.

besides, they haven't tried to lock him up yet, and he's hardly a rookie where they are trying to figure out what he's worth and what he offers the team, they should know this exactly by now.

we're also talking about the Dragons who let their 26 year old captain and best player go to recruit a 30 year old less talented player
