We need Asiata or TPJ at lock, can we ease Cardigan off the bench pls.

Luai and Kikau on Dearden, Arthars and Mead - FMD, that edge will take a belting.
No their on Croft, Kennar and Coates edge which by no means is better

Again, this isn't proof that Milford has been the definitive factor in our defence, just that it has happened in the past.

2009 season:
R13 - LOSS - 4-48 Storm
R14 - LOSS - 22-44 Bulldogs
R15 - LOSS - 46-12 Sharks
R16 - LOSS - 21-14 Eels
R17 - WIN - 28-14 Warriors
R18 - Bye
R19 - LOSS - 44-12 Rabbitohs
R20 - LOSS - 34-18 Titans
R21 - LOSS - 56-0 Raiders
---Steve Michaels Dropped---
R22 - WIN - 30-10 Sharks
R23 - WIN - 58-24 Panthers
R24 - WIN - 12-2 Dragons
R25 - WIN - 16-10 Cowboys
R26 - WIN - 22-10 Raiders
QF - WIN - 40-32 Titans
SF - WIN - 24-10 Dragons
PF - LOSS - Cheating, historically over-the-cap Storm
While Michaels had to go, there were other factors at play. A lot of those big losses happened around the Origin period where the Broncos struggled to get their full strength team on the field for a consistent stretch of time. It was also around this time that Nick Kenny and Ashton Sims started to lead by example and started bashing forwards out of the game. I remember with Sims it was like a reverse Sampson where cutting his hair actually gave him more strength - it was his best stretch of form for Brisbane easily and culminated in that semi-final.

Similarly the Broncos defence 'should' improve but they've also made other changes. Both Niu and Riki are gone as well which 'should' improve the defence out there. I say should because neither Arthars or Pangai Jr are really known for their defence on the edges. Pangai in particular has come up with some shocking efforts on the line.

In the end, I don't think it 'fixed' the problem, it just slightly improved it. Even if you take out the 40 point drubbing in Melbourne they still conceded 32 points in a semi against the Gold Coast.

Why you gotta bust my balls bro? ;)

I really, really hope that Milford has been the defensive weak link in the chain, a la Steve Michaels in 2009. As in, everyone's been covering for him or not trusting him and causing us to appear like we're always defending one short. Imagine if that were the case, and we go back to defending like... an NRL team!
A look at Dearden and Croft was had last year when we down a few. They weren't a terrible combo for half games. Played against three top teams, Melbourne, Souths and Raiders and had solid halves against them all.

Hopefully with a few guys looking to impress we can be honourable in defeat. Dropped players sends a message. Sometimes it works. Hope it does for us.

After that bullshit Chrichton pulled celebrating the try in the game against the Raiders, they are now my new most hated team in the comp, and i would be stoked to see the Panthers lose every game from here on out.
It wont happen, but these fuckwits deserve to lose.

Going to be twice as hard to watch this game this Thursday.

Panthers were my second team as I used to live there. I have always supported the Broncos since they came into the comp and Panthers were my second side to watch over the weekends.

Now there is just so much to dislike about them. When that Liui stomped on a Warrior's head last year in the in goal was quite shocked. the fact it went unpunished left me reeling and suspecting they were getting 'special' treatment from the NRL and the media. How Naden managed to get a few weeks off for snorting cocaine the night before the GF last year is mind-boggling. Imagine that was a Bronco for minute.

This year, their brat-like arrogance and callous show of disrespect for the rules and the opposition has put me right off them. I hope they get shafted in a GF as they have accrued so much bad karma with their poor sportsmanship.

I kinda like the arrogance to a degree. Let’s see if they can follow through, as they are leaving themselves no wiggle room.
Arrogance borne of supreme confidence in your abilities is to be admired. Arrogance that omits common courtesy to your fellow human is merely disguised, ill-mannered contempt borne from poor breading. As old Pauline would say "I don't like it".

I’m not for the bad behaviour, but I liked the Viking clap on the Raiders.
As did I. It originated in Scotland at a soccer club called Motherwell FC. The Icelanders nicked the idea and the Raiders followed suit. No one has a mortgage on it but I do like the introduction into our game. Let's face it Broncos home crowds are the most passive, boring conservative crowd you'd ever find on the planet. If we were to do something similar (certainly not the clap though, we don't want the clap) to give us a point of difference from other crowds I'd be all for it. But in all honestly, like our club our fans are a bit rudderless and bereft of original ideas.

Panthers are getting that NBA elite roster arrogance and it could totally work for them with young ego’s and flair. I’m really watching them with interest. There’s a bit of the late 80’s Pistons, early 90’s Bulls, and later Lakers about them. But at the same time, they absolutely own their brand.

I’m not interested in the ref’s/NRL’s leg-up’s in the narrative, so much. Of course it exists to a degree, but for the pure enjoyment of watching a talented team strut their wares, I’m loving the spectacle.
Makes a nice change from the arrogance and strut of our players who have won absolutely nothing... Barely even a game over the last couple of seasons...

i wouldnt be mad if TPJ whacked one or two of them lol

FWIW the current matchup average age difference for both squads ain't that much. Panthers are only younger by 0.3 yrs.
Once we have Mead and Glenn off the books by next year, we will definitely be the youngest team in the NRL.

Not sure why you're blaming the bakeries for the arrogance.

fleg sucks ... least kennedy runs hard
Yeah I was more talking about the Oates coming in bit

also we now don’t have 2 million dollars worth of players on our bench. People really don’t talk about it much but that really hurts us. To have more cap for our starters we need to find our 5 starting forwards and go cheapies that get the job done on the bench.
