Maybe it's not KW desperately looking for the right combination to get a win, but dropping an under-performing player to;
A - hopefully get the best out of him later
B - send a strong message to the roster about perform or perish

If so, then KW is more concerned about long term results than flukeing that next win - in which case I say takes big balls, and I got nothing but respect
C - Last resort. ✅

I know it is 7 years ago now, but I was Youtubing some Milf highlights with Canberra from 2014 when he was playing 5/8 and fullback too I think. I have truly never seen such amazing, fleet-footed, brilliant and confident play from anybody. He was just mesmerising and untouchable, completely bamboozling opposition players with his speed and footwork.

It really is very sad what's become of him. Truly one of rugby leagues' most puzzling mysteries in terms of what made him go downhill since that time. I'm sure there must be something external at play that we don't know about. Such a shame when you think about how good he could have been.

Not wrong, Faithy and why you may be right about unknown external factors, there’s also plenty of known factors both internal and external. I think he mismanaged his own conditioning and game development, and club mismanaged his expectations and role.

He has been crippled by having to play the roles of two people for the past three years and the pressure that’s mounted by our team being driven into the dirt by inept coaching and management

I disagree,
Cleary was out a couple of weeks ago and Matt Burton filled in at 6 with Luai at 7. They killed it.
These guys have been playing together for years and they're on fire at the moment.
Against Melbourne no less...

Lodge has essentially confirmed Milf is out, though possibly on the bench. It is also believed, via NRL.com, Riki is going to the bench, Carrigan back at lock and TPJ into the second row. Arthars will replace Niu, which likely means either Herbie is still injured or Kennar is also dropped.

I'm gonna be honest here. This is the moat concerned ive ever been. This could be it, they very well could hit 60 points on us.

If the young panthers get in the mood, we might well hit our rock bottom on Thursday night and take a beating like no other. Our team is down on confidence, no combination's, no real danger player, brittle defence. If you thought we were broken before this could genuinely destroy some of these lads mentally.

Lets hope kevvie has put a bomb under them and showing that by dropping milf no one is safe and they come out and compete against the panthers.

Yeah you're right bud, no doubt about that.

I think I, and maybe many people, had actually forgotten just what a player this man was at one stage. All the terrible form over the past 5 years or so is all most people think about now when it comes to Milf. He was just so nimble on his feet back in 2014/15, throwing ridiculously good 'no look' passes, setting up tries left, right and centre and just splitting defences at will. I dunno whether he just got too cocky and complacent, lazy, unsure of himself, or mismanaged as you mentioned. Maybe just a combination of all.

Hard to believe he is only 26. Maybe he has time to come back elsewhere and salvage something, I dunno. I just know that when we signed him back then, I truly thought we were getting ourselves one of the future all time greats. How disappointing its all ended up.

Lost a GF, lost his halves partner, lost his legendary coach, gained Seibold, had Boyd and Glenn for mentors and recurring injuries.

Yes total mystery.

After 2015 I had no doubts he would be one of the goats.

Unless there's a massive improvement in defence, leadership, teamwork demoting Milf isn't going to change much, if anything.

Unfortunately, pointing out the obvious here but it's where our roster and management is at this stage.

Yeah what happens if we lose by 60 - does he change again?

I reckon we get spanked for the next two weeks and Milf gets named to play the titans, we then have two softer matches and hopefully we can at least win those three.

I hear what you're saying, and true they are major contributing factors. But surely with the talent this man had/possibly still has hidden somewhere, he could have bounced back somewhat. He instead has just gone completely off a cliff. Maybe he just lacks that intestinal fortitude and resilience that most sporting greats possess. I just feel sorry for what could/should have been when it comes to Milf, that's all.

He’s not caving to pressure of the media, he is helping Milford step out of the firing line and regain his confidence. It’s what should of happened 2-3 years ago but no one had the balls to do it.
So this. Well said. KW is his own man and he isn't doing this because of media pressure. He held off doing this for as long as he could and finally he's pulled the trigger. I forecast this exact scenario at the start expecting KW to drop Milford this season.
