I remember that try he made JT look like an idiot. Awesome stuff by Jaral hope he can do something like that in the future.

Lock is pretty much an extra prop, and it works really well for most sides. Dominating the middle of the field is arguably the most important thing in a match. It's where everything begins. It's what creates space for the outside and sucks in the defence. That's why most good teams have 3 middle third runners.
what do you mean by 3 middle third runners, most teams have more than that running through the middle of the field
Who can forget this little beauty?

i'll never forget that beauty.

What he means is as far as the team structure goes, the field is split into 3 "lanes". Left third, middle third, right third.

You generally have a back rower in the Left and Right thirds, along with a half, centre and winger. In the middle third you have the "other" backrower, the 2 props and the hooker. That middle third back rower is more often than not the "lock" these days. That's certainly the case with the Broncos, with Corey Parker filling that role. Cronulla too with Paul Gallen.

Manly is a variation where Glenn Stewart wears the 13 but typically plays left third (or right third? Can't picture it right now, but not middle).

It's why when people say Parker should move to prop and Thaiday to the back row, it makes no real difference. Parker would still be in the middle third of the field, and all it would do is mean either Thaiday stays in the middle too, or you shift Glenn or Gillett to the middle and Thaiday to left or right...which would only serve to make Gillett or Glenn less effective.

Just the way the modern game has evolved.

after thaidays effort against the storm (lets hope he can keep that up) ive come more around to thaiday playing in the middle. especially when you point out that him going to an edge would mean gillett or glenn in the middle and i certainly dont want that.

of course you could start anderson and have one of the others move to the bench but i dont agree with that.

A mate went to training today .... took his kid along to get some pics with the players.

He spoke with McGuire, and he said he won't be a late call-up this week, he's still not 100% right.

I wonder at the Cowboys is Tamou and Scott have a running battle, who can get the better stats each week.

This weather is horrible! Definitley a forwards game tonight which will be an interesting contest. Game might be won by some freakish one off play from a back....probably a fullback...and hopefully not of the mango variety.

Really hoping Thaiday backs up with another awesome performance just like against the Storm. Hannant + Thaiday vs Scott + Tamou is a battle of biblical proportions.

Yes, a good solid performance with lots of ball movement and offloads and no missed tackles and .....

oh just bloody well win !!

I don't care about winning, I just want them to score more points than the opposition.

Under 20's up 32-16 atm, Taylor and Oates both have scored 2 tries, Molo and Timu bagging tries as well and Kurt Capewell has kicked 4 goals.
