I thought I answered that and said no because seibold has done nothing to deserve any leniency
He was coach of the year and took souths from 12th to 3rd....
Bennett was Co coach at the raiders, taking them from 11th to 3rd in his one year in the nrl/nswrl prior to this.
Or are we counting records from previous competitions, are you seriously suggesting that his record in another competition would nullify you from asking for him to be sacked after 4 years of failure? You cannot honestly expect us to believe that hahaha. Just admit it, you would have wanted him sacked! 4 years?! You can't even wait 4 games ffs

Does the Panasonic Cup not count? It was played between round 5 and 6. If not, Seibold would only have to lose 3 more games this year to match the same amount of losses Wayne had in 1988.

Not for the NSWRL competition.

But you can add the 1989 Panasonic Cup and 1991 Tooheys Challenge to the list of accomplishments as well.

Coach of the year as voted by the Sydney media. He also didn't win a premiership last year so therefore he failed right? So one season of failure got him a job at the Broncos? We've really set the bar low. I'm not that old but I remember when you had to earn your spot at the Broncos by being elite. From the top in the office, all the way to our reserves. Now we just settle? Maybe the players aren't bleeding for the jersey because they don't feel like they're playing for the Brisbane Broncos anymore

Well we are completely fucked then @Cult3 because the whole elite thing is a fallacy because they chose Bennett after he had not won the NSWRL competition and therefore he failed. It is a shame they just settled and set the precedent for how the club was to be run thereafter.

"these guys will explode next year."
In 2018, he utters the same words to effect about the new young forwards but gets pushed out the door. Now we are imploding.

What? I wasn't the one that said not winning a premiership was a failure. I was using @Lockysillegitimatechild logic that Bennett's first four years at the Broncos were a failure.

He had made the GF with Canberra as a `co-coach' with Don Furner. But in any event, the thrust of the argument is correct that the owners of the Club showed faith in Bennett and trusted that he would deliver them a premiership, which he did in his 5th year. His initial squads were stacked with State of Origin and Test stars, but the premiership still only came after he made some key adjustments to the squad.

But it is all good, Seibold is apparently expected after a disrupted off-season and in his first season with a new group which includes a lot of rookies to have them up near the top of the ladder.
Maybe he shouldn't have caused the disruption then? He's not exactly an innocent victim and he knows what he signed up for. And nobody is saying we should be on top of the ladder. We just want the things we were told would improve to actually improve instead of going backwards.

At that particular point in time neither had Bennett.

He had, this he failed until 92 is garbage.

Play off for fifth, Panasonic Cup, Prelim final and Reserve grade premiership and Lotto Challenge all in first four season.

Six of the first premiership side played day one against Manly in first grade or reserve grade. He was building a side from the start.

They will, have patience Grasshopper.

So do you have an opinion on the 2 players most want to see out of the club?

Do you think Macca and Boyd should be retained after this year if they keep up their current form?

So, you're saying if seibold didn't win a premiership in 4 years with the current squad (which is currently far inferior to the squad Bennett had) everyone on here calling for his sacking after 6 games would give him 1 more year? Haha

And BTW, I think Bennett is the greatest coach of all time. I also, however, believe 6 games is not enough to judge a coach on. .

I can't speak for the others but I have never questioned Bennett status as the greatest coach of all time. The point was raised as people on here are willing to give Bennett 4 years with a team full of internationals and established and seasoned brisbane comp players, yet seibold gets 6 games before certain posters are 'proved right'. If this same mentality was used for the beginning of the broncos, Bennett wouldnt have made it to 92, there is no question about that.

He also vouched for Bennett pre broncos record, but if Bennett had a team full of the stars from that league it would cancel each other out. Either the league was no good and the players weren't upto standard so it made it hard for him in the nswrl and therefore his record in that league is null and void, or the league was a great standard therefore he had stars from a good league to fill his new team.

This is an interesting discussion. As far as I can the situation hasn't changed much. Win one of the next 3 games (including last week) and we are a chance of sneaking into the finals. Win 2 and we are a good chance of making the finals and possibly even top 4. Lose all 3 and it's time to start thinking about next season. That is with an eye to Origin where we won't be affected much. Should be able to put on a bit of a winning streak. Thank god Boyd has retired from rep games... (sarcasm)

So, I was very enthusiastic about Seibold. I still I am but I think we have to admit, he should be doing a much better job than he is with this team. He needs to stop fucking raving about "how young the team is". He let McGuire go and he could pick guys like Tagatese and Fensom and others if he thinks this team is losing because the players are too young.

Having said that, @broncsgoat and @Dee should admit Seibold inherited a team on the decline with a combination of deadwood signed long-term, a hopelessly misfiring 5/8 who is one of the highest paid players in the competition but is playing ISC standard football and several young players who may not be ready for NRL yet and will be coming off contract by the time they are. And our best player so far this year (Oats) is off contract at the end of the season. In the salary cap era, a really catastrophic situation.

Whether by design or just bad management, WB left the team in a mess.

On a side note, I recall a certain poster who suggested getting rid of Milford for Elgey, provided the team Milford goes to is carrying a very large % of his salary, pretty much exactly a year ago. He was slammed for it. Looks like a genius now. Elgey on a minimum wage and Milford off the books would be a boon for this team in the salary cap era.

Finally, I have been one of Boyd's most fervent haters. When he took the ball and ran across the sideline, it was the only thing he could do. Very unfair to denounce him for that. Ditto for when Leilua brushed him off to score. If he went for a legs tackle, momentum would have seen Leilua score. Bird and Milford to blame for that.

On another side note, WTF is going on with Birds defence? Been fucking terrible! Was he always a poor defender? I don't follow the Shonkies but I never recalled him so consistently being brushed off by attackers.

Having said that about Boyd, did anyone see one or two plays before the Leilua try? The Canberra fullback busted right through the front line and then ran straight over the top of Boyd and was finally pulled down from behind. WTF was going on with that??? Trying to take a rampaging Leilua ball and all on the line is one thing but being regulation trampled by that fullback is unacceptable!!

Seibold inherited a team that everyone expected to be succesful this year. Unanimously tipped to be a top 8 team. Seibold, the reigning coach of the year, whatever the **** that means, was meant to improve us but he's shat the bed so far. Maybe he'll turn it around, I hope he does, but this bullshit about Bennett leaving us in a bad spot is fucking ludicrous.

So you think the halves combination, signed long-term is good, the hooker and fullback signed long-term on big money are justifying the faith Bennett (apparently) had in them and Gillett also signed long-term is a good investment?

Obviously it isn't a good situation and it's 100% WBs fault for these ridiculous contracts. But Seibold should have the team playing better than they are for sure!

When WB came back he DIDN'T have control of contracts. It cannot be 100% WBs fault as contracts and length of contract are the board's decision. He had imput of course but not control. Ridiculous claim.

I’m sure Wayne fought hard to get Boyd’s contract. He seems to want players to embrace life after football and definitely would have looked out for Darius.
