It appears Beau Fallon is free to play. Has not even been charged over the lifting tackle yesterday. Surely that is a mistake.
Would love to know how they can justify that.

That is crazy. How can they justified McLean's suspension if they don't even charge falloon?!? that was a much worse tackle. **** the NRL are retarded

what message are they trying to send now the ... you'll only get suspended for a dangerous throw if you break someones neck...

Guys, hear me out..

Would it be in the realm of possibilities to give Gillett a run at Five-Eighth? It's certainly not for his kicking gaming, but if my memory serves me correctly, I seem to recall some really good flick passes and such from him, and some decent little grubbers to force a repeat set or score a try.

I wouldn't expect him to be infinitely better than Hoffman at Five-Eighth, but I think he would be marginally better, and it would make our starting line-up stronger all across the park, as we can start with 2 props and move Parker back to lock.

1. Barba
2. Vidot
3. Copley
4. Hodges (c)
5. Hoffman
6. Gillett
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Kennedy
11. Glenn
12. Thaiday
13. Parker (c)

14. Hannant
15. Oates
16. Hala
17. Lowrie

Just brainstorming, but that seems a lot more of a versatile line-up than our current one.

you can't move Hoffman from 5/8 due to his lack of ball playing then put Gillett there. he won't go any better at all, and he has been in good form right where he is, i think it would weaken us rather than make us stronger

I was hoping for a little consistency. I guess that's too much to ask for from the judiciary.

I can do whatever I want, it's my opinion.

It would be moving Hoffman to the Wing (Where he belongs), moving Parker to Lock (Where he belongs), moving Copley to left Centre (Where he belongs) and moving Kennedy into the starting line-up (Where he deserves a chance). I'm not sure at all how it could make us weaker, having Hoffman on the wing would improve our try scoring ability on the right hand side, whilst also making our defense in the middle and on the edges better.

It also gives us a reason to drop Reed, who's been a virtual liability the last few weeks.

Cult3 I'm surprised in you.

Clearly somebody of your infinite wisdom and knowledge of the game would clearly remember that not only was Daly Cherry-Evans one of the biggest stars in the National Youth Competition in 2009 but he went onto become the best Intrust Super Cup player in 2010 before going onto lead Manly to a premiership in one of the best rookie seasons of all time.

While I don't believe Brooks will reach those heights in his first real season of first grade, I do believe that he has the similar class and talents of DCE and has demonstrated said talents across all three grades.

Meanwhile, Nikorima while skilled is flawed and has a lot of areas of his game which aren't ready to be tested in first grade. 2014 maybe his season, he may get a shot like Brooks did the year before but he is not ready to take over the reigns of five eigth.

That does not mean that Hoffman has immunity as there are other options outside of young Kodi Nikorima such as Duncan Paia'Aua, Zach Strasser and the returning Jordan Kahu but as of right now Kodi isn't one of them.

I don't buy into this logic of 'you never know unless you give it a go'. Speaking in extremes here, but it's pretty clear that Logan Spaander isn't ready to talk on the first grade duties.

As for Barba, clearly defence is not his strong suit and it never has been since his days in the NYC. It has not improved and quite frankly, I don't want it too because his future doesn't reside there. Whatever potential he offers as a playmaker is not being nullified from being at fullback.

I'm not saying DCE was bad by any means, but Ben Hunt won the Toyota cup player of the year and Luke Brooks was touted as the next Andrew Johns before he had debuted and was named halfback in the Toyota Cup team of the year whilst DCE was on the bench for that team. I'm a bigger DCE fan though.

Everyone in the NYC has flaws, hence why it is a development comp. My first pick would be Strasser but Nikorima's off the cuff play could be the spark we need. Barba's potential as a playmaker is definitely not being stifled at the back for us, but the teams playmaking potential is being stifled by having Hoffman there. I'd be happy for them to swap, especially after Barba drops a bomb and doesn't look confident.

moving Kennedy into the starting line-up (Where he deserves a chance).

How does playing shit from the bench get you a spot in the starting lineup though? That is exactly the opposite of how all adult sports are played.

some people seem to think that not performing well in lower grades should get you a shot at 5/8 because once you get to the NRL levl, you;ll magically start performing

It's funny that you missed the point that despite being amongst the best players in the NYC, DCE still had to spend a fair amount of time in the Queensland Cup to get his opportunity and that helped make him the player he is.

In NYC it's important to look at traits, analysing both their strengths and weaknesses to see whether they're worth a shot. Nikorima has far too many weaknesses and not enough strengths to justify a first grade selection.

That doesn't even factor in form that was very spotty and definitely not deserving of recognition after last Friday's effort.

Spot on, Cult. Kennedy is shaping up to be a real disappointment. It speaks volumes that the Roosters weren't all that upset about losing him.

Yet guys like Reed will be waved on through. It seems like double standards at Red Hill. A winning culture can't be built on that.

Big difference between being spotty in first grade and in the NYC.

Especially with the type of mistakes you can get away with at that level...

I haven't really said Nikorima deserves the spot. From the start of the year he did, but now not so much. As I said I'd prefer Strasser. or anybody who doesn't look like they don't know whether they're left footed or right footed.

alright, lets focus on Strasser ... how is he going in the ISC, because if he isn't performing at a consistently high level, he doesn't deserve selection either

This is the team I'd like to see, somewhat influenced by what I expect to be picked.

1. Barba
2. Vidot
3. Copley
4. Hodges (c)
5. Maranta
6. Hoffman
7. Hunt
8. Kennedy
9. McCullough
10. Parker (c)
11. Glenn
12. Thaiday
13. Gillett

14. Hannant
15. Oates
16. McGuire
17. Lowrie

Reed out for now. Has had his moments but is generally a weak link. Whether due to a bung shoulder or not, he needs a stint in Qcup or rehab etc to get it right. Makes way for Copley. Dubious of him being dropped however....

Would love to see a viable option to replace Hoffman so he can shift to a wing. But as no one is making a compelling case, he stays at 6. To that end Maranta retains his spot.

Hook isn't going to move Parker, so he stays at 10. Kennedy to pair up to soak up the early barrages.

Question mark over Oates. Great kid with a big future, but his presence is dependent on fitness. Can still argue he's a worthwhile inclusion even below full capability. J Wallace if he can't make the cut without some more time in Q Cup to sharpen up.

Hopefully we can stick it to the Titans. Hodges will be better for the run, and they should have a point to prove.

I like that team Rally, but i would certainly start McGuire
