I think people are unhappy because they're sick of these makeshift solutions. We want to see an actual half at 5/8, even if it is a rookie that may fail.
Well, Kodi did throw that awesome pass to Barba against Canterbury in the 9s and was unlucky that Maranta wasn't in the vicinity to collect the cut-out against the Warriors in the trial, but if the knock against Hoffman is that he's too much of an individual, than I fail to see how Kodi fixes that issue.
I think you'll find the knock against Hoffman is not that he's an individual. It's that he's not a very good individual.
Late Mail - Broncos v Rabbitohs - Broncos
Late mail is in. Hodges to 5/8th, Maranta returns to the wing, Copley to Centre. The rest unchanged.
Lol@Griffin. Someone said awhile ago he isn't coaching for the club, he's coaching for his own survival. Couldn't be more true.
The only way he survives is by us winning ... so isn't that a good thing :noidea:
Not in this case. He is coaching conservatively, meaning he isn't willing to play players in crucial positions that don't have a fair bit of first grade experience, even if said player is more ideally suited for that role than the first grader he just lumps in there.
In short, he's scared shitless of failure, since he's already squandered his cooling off period.
The only way he survives is by us winning ... so isn't that a good thing :noidea:
Fixed it for ya. :wink:Not always, no. Playing game by game is fine, but it's also important to plan for the future. Now in saying that, I actually don't mind Hodges at 5/8, I'm interested to see how this goes but in truth I'd prefer Hodges 5/8 and Hoffman at WINGER if the plan is for Hoffman to be our 5/8 the whole year...
ahh ok, i get it now, people will only be happy if we win with the team they want picked ... if we win with a team they don't want, people will remain pissed.
got it
If we win this week, where does it leave us next week? Does Hodges stay in the halves?.. This is the whole problem, we're winning games with absolutely shit line-ups where we have 6 players playing out of position, we could potentially be doing long term damage to players by not playing them where they're most suited. I'd rather us lose a game with 13 players in their preferred positions than win a game with wingers and centres in the halves and backs in the forwards.
Fixed it for ya.
