Round 8 - Broncos vs Titans

So now you're using the crowd as your defence...Wow, you're next level. Because the crowd who are half filled with morons voted the guy who made a few linebreaks as MOM that makes it fact hahaha.

Here's a quick breakdown of Isaako involvements tonight:

Proctor try - Isaako way out of position.
Thompson try - Isaako way out of position.
Brimson try - Isaako way out of position.
Peachey try - Not his fault, did his job taking the man with the ball.
Herbie try - Good catch and pass by Isaako.
Isaako try - Good ball by Milford to put him through a huge hole, and great right foot step to finish it
Coates try - Awesome step to get past a rubbish Kelly effort and poor kick chase, then put Gamble away, really good to watch.
Isaako try 2 - Literally all TPJ and he supported well.
Oates try - All Oates
Arthars try - Simple catch and pass similar to Herbie effort.
Fifita try - Not involved, no fault of his.
Kelly no try - This was horrible from Isaako, he was walking under the posts and didn't try to get involved, luckily TPJ held him up and stripped the ball.
Rein try - Isaako bought his dummy and over ran the ruck, could have stopped it.

So he was personally responsible for 3 tries, and a better fullback would have stopped the Rein effort, although most of the blame on that try is on Levi. So out of the Titans 5 tries tonight, he was solely responsible for 3 of them, and shared some blame on another, and he is some peoples MOM.

But as long as the fans at the ground think he was the best, you're spot on. Fool.
Bit harsh to call him out of position on Thompson's try, it was scored in the corner off a kick after going from one side to the other.

Yes, he hit it too well. One of a thousand kickers who have done the same. That kickoff and one try where he could have done better is a fair call but it's utter crap to blame him for the other three tries. A careful watch of the replay without Anasta telling you what to think would go a long way to changing any fair minded persons opinion. Of course I don't expect that of you.

Watched it on 9 with the sound off as I was putting the kids to sleep next to me. Your condemnation of anyone who disagrees with you is disgusting, get over yourself.

Isaako showed tonight (and several times thoughout the season) he has the attacking skills to be an elite fullback ... just need to work on his positioning in defence. maybe we need to re-consider reverting from the current trend of fullbacks defending in the line (on their own try line), and going back to a more tradition fullback defensive positioning
Is that an Isaako issue or a team issue? Do you blame Isaako for defending where he is told to or the coaching staff for telling him to?

It's very Darius Boyd-esque. Boyd would defend in the line a lot.

Hoping it doesn't become a habit for Isaako and he can trust the 12 lads in front of him.

they just have a higher ceiling this season.
That’s because they have shown their hand and bought their players, something we are about to do.
Over paying players will cause their cap to explode and they will be in the same position we are working our way out.
Wonder what David was thinking on the long bus trip home, wonder if he could hear the Broncs singing their victory song - I hope so,

I don't blame Isaako for defending in the line ... most fullbacks do nowadays. I was just thinking that going back to a more traditional way of positioning for a fullback might help both Isaako and us.

especially because of Vlandys ball

Don't you think they'd be instructing Isaako on where to defend?

After 15 minutes my missus came into the lounge room remonstrating with me "By the sounds of the language they're not doing to well. You should maybe think of switching them off as they can't be good for your blood pressure". I'm so glad I stayed true to form and ignored her as I would have missed the greatest comeback in our history.

TPJ was immense for us and dead set seems to have been re-invented over the off-season. A number of times he created space for Arthurs but Arthurs was just a metre too slow to take advantage. I'm salivating at the thought of Staggs slotting back in there in a few weeks time.

TPJ was involved twice in Isaako's first try and his passing both from left to right and right to left was a lesson for young up and coming 5/8s.

I'm glad Milf had a better than average return, but what concerned me most was when Oates (how good was that finger tip control?) made that intercept Herbie ran past Milf to back him up. Milf seemed to have no speed in his legs at all. I'm wondering if he's carrying an injury still as at times his acceleration looked missing completely.

Riki badly needs a spell. He's a future gun back rower. He has an enormous ticker and his will to win is obvious but he still has a fair bit of development before he can be considered the finished product.

How sweet it will be if we now go on a run and be able to credit the Titans for playing us into form.

Finally, with the rocks Kevvie has to work with that was a diamond studded win. A club record being set that we can all be proud of for a change, such a nice way to welcome our new CEO to the club.

Oh yeah absolutely. But any great player knows when to stick to what your told to do, and when it isn't working.

So hopefully he will be confident enough to trust himself.

One win changes everything, we got the Cowboys next week and we can be serious for a moment.. we've had 2 months of top 4 teams

I thought the Titans game was winnable, I reckon we'll almost be favorites to beat the Cowboys

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. That was a wonderful win and potentially the start of the way back up but we haven’t put two 80 minute performances in a row in years. I suspect we’ll come out flat next week and especially without the home crowd support to ride on either. I hope I’m wrong.

good thing we showed up 20 minutes late for this match then 😉

I’ve been one of isaako’s harshest critics but god damn has he got a wicked step. I’ve watched that kick return 10 times now and Jesus Christ... it’s faster than how Karmichael and prime benji used to do it. I’m sure it gave cooper Cronk cold sweats seeing it.
Here's my prediction: come 2024, we'll be worried about losing Jamayne. The kid is a sensation, dogged by some consistently poor defensive reads. He's going to benefit massively from having Karmichael around the squad barking directions. Maybe fullback isn't going to be his long term position, but I want him in my team.

His step is the best I've ever seen. Ever.

Man I’m seriously confused, people on here and the post match media not giving Milford any credit. I thought he was superb just chiming in laid on some beautiful passes for tries and defended well, obviously not a million dollar player. But if he can perform like that week in week out I’d love to see him re-signed for half a mil.
I thought he did the bare minimum not to get dropped. He's invisible in support, and meek in defence. If you watch any of the tries, Milford is nowhere to be seen. He can barely keep up with the play once he's moved the ball on or completed his mandatory 5th tackle bomb. A hidden litmus test of effort you don't see on the tryscorer and try assist stats is who's first on the scene to hug the scorer. That's never Milford.

No one should be dropped this week, but he'd be my least valuable retention. I wouldn't be upset if Fat Albert Kelly got a run at some point. He outshone Milford in the ISC.

Yes he can play, he was moved to top 30. Two things form isn’t good enough yet and he’s been out injured with a shoulder for two weeks.
Ah I see. In that case we have to wait for Glenn and he comes in for riki
