Round 8 - Broncos vs Titans

Coates was responsible for the second Tits try. No fault for Isaako in the first. He was positioned in the middle but if he wasn't there'd be a twenty metre hole in the defensive line. The third could be attributed to Isaako a bit but now I understand why people are blaming Isaako. Anasta kept banging on about Isaako. I never have the sound on and it's so so obvious how the commentary can influence people's thinking. Anasta even blamed Isaako for the fourth !!

I see only one of those tries you could partially blame Isaako. How malleable some are.
Coates definitely was at some fault, but Isaako was also way out of position and needed to at least be pressuring Thompson trying to take the ball. Anasta is an absolute moron and I don't listen to that clown. The fact you only see fault for 1 of those tries says a lot about you and your opinions on Isaako.
Bit harsh to call him out of position on Thompson's try, it was scored in the corner off a kick after going from one side to the other.
I'll watch the replay to make sure, but I'm pretty sure he was just jogging behind the play near the posts.
Nah the Corey Thompson try wasn’t Isaako fault. That was on Coates

I must admit, I do feel vindicated with how Isaako is performing this year. There wasn't too many people who stuck by him over the last 2 years, but you can be damn sure I was one of them.

Just wanted to see how he performed with a full off-season training in a single position with no off-field distractions.. it's paying dividends.

I think there's plenty of room to grow as well, not only defensively, but in attack. He's had so many different halves pairings that there's been no combinations forming. Give him a couple of months working together with Milford & Gamble and I think he'll be even better in attack.
His running game is fantastic, but his defence is atrocious and he really struggles attacking down the right edge, it's like he is only now learning how to pass left to right.

MOM Isaako. Honourable mention Gamble. So pleased and looks like a great weekend coming up. How many try assists, line breaks and tries for Isaako? I saw at least two t/a and two tries, **** knows how many linebreaks.

Did you note when Haas tried to make consecutive tackles on the fringe he had to make a legs tackle on the opposition centre . Got left on the ground . Quick play the ball and the Titans are in . ?????

That`s why he doesn`t play 2nd row ...

Disagree about attacking down the right edge, he made one poor pass all night. If you're talking about previous games, I think the issue with the right hand side attack was the halfback's we've been playing.

I said it last night, but Gamble was the first halfback we've had since Nikorima who was actually willing to dig in to the line before dishing it out back to Milford / Isaako. It gave them so much time and room to move, room they haven't had all season because Croft & Dearden were just catching and passing.

I wouldn’t feel too vindicated, I don’t think anyone denied his footwork or athleticism.

His positioning is woeful, his communication to the defensive line seems non existent, he’s a hog who always goes for the glory plays.

Last night he had a 3 on 1 over lap on the right and he went himself. He scored but it’s a common theme for him. Short drop outs and kick offs when they aren’t on, 40m field goal attempts when they aren’t the right choice, kick offs out on the full.

He has an incredible set of skills but he is also a huge liability. Each week he seems to do so poorly that any player would be dropped or hooked but then he does some amazing things in attack and frustrates you because now you can’t drop him.

He has improved significantly under the highball though, so I am hopeful he has a good attitude and can eventually learn to fix the massive flaws in his game because even if he got those up to average he could be very good.

Don't get me wrong, I know he's got a lot of work to do, especially defensively.

I can't say I agree about the whole 'glory play' thing, he pretty much made the correct plays every single time last night if you ask me, including 2 perfect catch and passes for the Farnworth & Arthars tries.

Not just talking about last night, it was just the easiest example to recall. He was very good for the last 60 minutes last night. As good as a fullback can be, but he really needs to work on his positioning and “getting on his kelpie dog”.

No I'm basing that off every game he has played and attacking down the right. He struggles with it, and if you are saying for him to be useful down the right edge he needs lots of time and room...That doesn't say much for his ball playing ability.

I know I have said it a few times already but I fucking loved Gamble’s game. Watching the replay for a second time already and he was just awesome. Made the right calls, directed the team and gave great ball to the outside backs. Further to all that his attitude and energy is fucking amazing and that obviously rubs off on the team. Loved him getting in Brimson’s face when he got sin binned and him waving it away when Fogarty kicked out on the full.

Great stuff.

Nah the Corey Thompson try wasn’t Isaako fault. That was on Coates.
Isaako was jogging and behind Fogarty, he should have anticipated a kick behind . He at least needed to be in front of Fogarty and then possibly would have got to the ball first.
Either way it was super impressive to pick himself up and go on and pull us out of the situation, very QLD resilient like.

Lads I think the fact that Isaako was just about involved in every try we can let that slide... but the man needs to work on that in training

After sleeping on it, that was one of the best games of footy ive watched in years.
It was a dogfight from the get go.
22-0 down after 20 minutes and i was ready to pack it up and call it a night.
Then proceeded 60 minutes of edge of your seat thrilling underdog comeback footy against an arrogant side that has a far higher opinion of itself than is warranted.
Isaako, TPJ, Gamble and Haas were outstanding, and no one on the field was terrible for the Broncos.
No kidding, that was a hell of a ride, and i have not been that invested in a game of footy since out last Grand Final and possibly last years SoO.

Cowboys on notice, you are next.
