PRE-GAME Round 9 - Sharks vs Broncos

The next three rounds prove nothing. Whichever way you slice it, it will still only be 10 rounds through the season. This isn't the time when premierships are won. To be honest I wouldn't mind dropping a game or two in the next few rounds to keep the boys grounded. There is no point being at the standard that wins the premiership when there are 16 odd games to go.

If we win the next three straight it will mean nothing, just as it will if we lose them.

Honestly, Melbourne are once again a force to be reckoned with.

Really?

At what point did they prove the are a force to be reckoned with? Was it the narrow win against the side with a mortgage on the wooden spoon? Or was it their towelling up of the team that will likely prove to be Newcastles main competition for the spoon?

yeah agreed, and premierships aren't won in round 10 I know that. I just have a feeling that this team thinks that they are better than what they are, and for me this next few games are the first real test for the season.

If we can win with Macca out, possibly Blair out, a guy on the bench who's only credentials are BHQ members talking him up, then I think it proves a lot. If we can then win with players backing up from Origin, or not playing at all, again, it shows that we aren't reliant on our big names to get the job done.

Agreed.

They have played noone yet. They lost to the (average) Dogs. And they have struggled to beat Newcastle and the Tigers.

Sure they flogged the Warriors - who are a rabble and missing two of their best players. Plus Patten forgot how the obstruction rule works - even got a blast from Archer about it.

They play the Cowboys in two weeks time. Then we'll get a better gauge then.

Good to see blair get off..must of been the head clash they went off
And also great to see the little maestro Kodi to start at hooker. This is the position Wayne is training him up for and wants him to stay. Hes got his chance now.
Who else thinks that Jack Reed and Macca are 2 players fighting to stay. Both off contract next year before the raise. The writing is in the wind.

I'm gonna go with.......nobody

You would be silly.
Bennett was even looking at Kallum Watkins as a fall back option if they missed out on G.I.

It was in the papers when the Broncos were in the UK playing club challenge

Has anyone noticed that last year and the year before the issue here was that the Broncos could never bring it home strong and would clock off at the end and lose/almost lose games. And now that we are bringing it home with a few tries at the end of tough games people are saying "We didn't do well we just had lucky tries to blow out the score at the end". Isn't being able to match it with a team and then having enough in the playbook/tank to blow the scores out at the end a good thing?

I think Wayne is just concentrating mostly on getting the defense right early in the season, get that sorted now and it becomes instinct for the boys towards the end of the season.

As we all know Wayne never likes to give away too much so he is holding back on most of the attack until later in the season, there is no point showing the other clubs everything you've got too early, it just gives them more time to work out ways to beat you.

The Cows on the other hand have been showing plenty of flashy plays, I'm sure Wayne is paying attention and taking notes.

I hope Wayne starts Waddell and brings Kodi on from the bench.

Less disruption that way ..... Waddell just has to get in there and defend his arse off and not try for any hero plays.

IF he can do that, we should be fine.

Wallace or Big Joe to start? Ese'ese back to bench.
