[Rumour] The Hunt for Karmichael's return to Broncos.

Re: Darren Lockyer urges the NRL to show AFL convert Karmichael Hunt the money

I hope they don't waste this money on this khunt. We need to throw the bank at a player like DCE when they come back on the market since they stupidly missed out on every single playmaker the last couple years.

Re: Darren Lockyer urges the NRL to show AFL convert Karmichael Hunt the money

So the Broncos have spent too much money buying players they want the NRL to chip in so they can buy another:laugh:

I think they want the NRL to help get him back to league... not the Broncos.

He might make a good replacement for Milford down your way ?

Re: Darren Lockyer urges the NRL to show AFL convert Karmichael Hunt the money

League didn't miss him, Izzie, Lote, Sailor, Rogers etc. for everyone league loses we have more come through the ranks. Let Khunt rot in reserve grade AFL unless he wants to come back for the right reasons.

Nope, didn't you read the article. Lockyer wants the nrl to put up money to get him back to the nrl then it's up to all the other clubs to negotiate with him. What he is suggesting is something like the union do with the centrally based contracts

Sorry I'm not so naive to not believe this is about getting him back to the Broncos.

As I said let the Khunt rot in reserve grade if he's just after the money.

We can find a use for Hunt if he returns. Wing, centre, backrow, bench utility. He can fill many rows. What he also brings is leadership qualities and professionalism. What he has to do is come at the right price. Just think if Hodges goes down with another bad injury it will probably be the end of him and Hunt could fill that void.

"Wing, centre, backrow, bench utility".

I thought Oates was perfect for any/all of those

In my view Oates will be the next Gene Miles.

The thought of spending any money ought to be put on hold until Milford's contract is, or isn't registered with the Broncos.

I think Oates is going to end up in the forwards. He will only get bigger imo. I'd certainly be careful when looking at signing k hunt

Why, should he play for free? Of course players are going to make their choices based on money, just like most of the population.

I can take or leave Hunt coming back to the Broncos but either way I don't begrudge him any money he can make.

The ideal situation is to have those players coming through the ranks as well as the star players that have been poached. Surely even you could agree that the NRL stuffed up by not making it easier for Folau to come back?

Absolutely agree with this Bushman

Yet it's the Titans CEO suggesting it- good reading skills.

Perhaps we should cut him some slack, it must be hard to read correctly when your trying to see past WHITE HOT SEETHING RAGE whenever you see mention of the word 'broncos'

Manly wont let DCE get on the Market, he'll be re-signed well before then

Absolutely, there is no way he is leaving manly. It just won't happen and I think people need to accept that or they are going to be very disappointed

Khunt as a back up signing in the event Milf backflips, that said

Milf @ $600k
Khunt @ $600k (wouldnt pay more than $400 plus 3rd party deals)

WTF, if Khunts estimated worth is approx $600k, milf is definitely 200k more,

Can't let them hold the NRL to ransom though, why should they earn above what they're worth simply cause they couldn't handle it in the code they jumped ship to play in for ridiculous money. Have to look at the precedent it would set and future repercussions.

I agree, they shouldnt hold the NRL to ransom but I honestly would not be against the NRL saying to all 16 clubs have 250k a year to contribute towards a salary for a player(s) from another code. This would be funded by the NRL and given to all clubs. Its up the clubs if they want to use it. In Brisbanes case they could offer Hunt 800k a year and 550k would be under the cap. If he signs for 3 years they get that benefit for 3 years, after than he is back to being a standard NRL player.

There are no doubt flaws and i'm not advocating the Broncos get special treatment, i think all clubs should be allowed to pillage the other codes where appropriate, just like the other codes are supported to do against the NRL. I was all in favour of Folau going to the Eels even though he left the Broncos to switch codes, just like Sailor, Tuqiri and Hunt. We have been burnt more than any other club.

Surely if someone like Jarrod Croker got pinched by the ARU/Brumbies for 2 years because Canberra just couldnt match the offer at the time you would like some support in the future to get him back?

I guess i just want to see the best players possible playing NRL, regardless of what club. I dont watch AFL or Rugby so its a shame i probably will never see Folau play again and after this year probably never see SBW play again either.

This is all just media speculation. Like when we offered Smith a huge contract then it came out that we didn't even put a formal offer to Smith. Just another rumour to sell papers. If Khunt is really wanting to return to the club, he takes a big pay cut coming here as we have a fullback and he would have to retrain in another position. Otherwise, he can continue to piss away his career in AFL. And lets not forget now he is slim jim and is no where near is league playing weight (like 15 kgs off). It would take a good 2 years for him to get back to his best league condition

JWH put on like 18 kilos over the last off season.
