Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

If Griffin put in all the suggestions on here, our team would be:

Maranta
Copley
Oates
Hodges
Hoffman
Kahu
Strasser/Nikorima
Kennedy
McCullough
McGuire
Vidot
???
Parker

Granville
Glenn
Molo
Ofahenguaie

Clearly, being a coach is not easy but if you are gonna rip in when something goes bad like against Parra, balance it out when stuff goes right like in the first month.

None of the teams we played in the 1st month has a running and passing game like Parra.

I like the idea of Maranta at fullback - I floated that idea last year (this was before we signed Barba, but I can't be sure) and Granville would be awesome on the bench.

He's done it before, so yep I do.

Now let me clarify. I am not a griffin fan and am in the camp that we need another coach, but it needs to be the right coach (I don't subscribe to the dump griffin and sign anybody agenda).

But just because I don't like griffin doesn't mean I will say things that aren't backed up by fact just to join the growing number of people that watch the broncos in the hope to push their agenda, not to support their team

Did Griffin have anything to do with keeping Hunt on the bench as hooker for what, 3 seasons, with 15-20 mins a game?

1 Ben Barba
2 Daniel Vidot
3 Jack Reed
4 Justin Hodges (c)
5 Dale Copley
6 Josh Hoffman
7 Ben Hunt
8 Josh McGuire
9 Andrew McCullough
10 Corey Parker (c)
11 Alex Glenn
12 Sam Thaiday
13 Matt Gillett
Interchange
14 Martin Kennedy
15 Todd Lowrie
16 Ben Hannant
17 Corey Oates
18 Jarrod Wallace

How about now?

whats wrong with that team ... i think its about the best we can field ATM... possibly only Kahu forcing his way in... short of someone from ISC demanding selection. My hope is Duncan P, can be that person now he has been "promoted" to ISC duties

I don't have an issue with the team. Lowrie provides good cover if we lose a backrower early in the match and he usually does his job. Hannant and Kennedy are the blokes needing to make impact plus Oates can play that role as well.

Nothing wrong with that team. If reeds form doesn't improve then he needs a stint in qcup, but I back him to improve (although it needs to happen soon)

My only real gripe is I would have Hala over lowrie as he offers something different to the rest of the bench, but none of that changes my opinion that we can't just dump griffin and sign whoever

Of course we can't just dump Griffin and sign whoever. He's under contract with the Raiders

Nup, strongly disagree.

Reed to Q Cup and Oates and Kennedy into the starting side needed to happen and it didn't. I don't expect that will change, even if we lose on friday.

Nope, you're right, it appears the coach is willing to persevere with underperforming players in the hope that they will come good eventually.

Time will tell .... i just hope we don't fall too far behind the pack in the meantime.

Oates is still getting match fitness and can cover a variety of positions. At this very early stage of his career he is the perfect bench option.

As for Kennedy as I have previously said I think him starting is the best option but we aren't coaches. You're talking like you're ideas are 110% the only options and griffin is ignoring them out of spite

I don't think he's ignoring them out of spite, I think he's ignorant of them because he's an idiot.

I would love to stand Griffin out in front of all of us and have him list on a whiteboard what it is that Reed brings to our outside backs, what Kennedy brings to the team coming off the bench and what it is he thinks Hoffman brings to the number 6, because I would've thought it would make for interesting viewing.

No, we're not coaches, but neither is Griffin quite frankly.

And you can right on that whiteboard who the **** else we have that would be a better option than Hoffman at 6, cos I sure as **** would like to know

Good point. I mean he hasn't been dominating q cup but with the step down in class to the nrl he will probably be fine. I mean if Luke capewell can manage it strasser can too

I sometimes get the feeling that some people think that even if a player isn't performing at a consistently high level in the ISC, he will somehow magically be able perform in the NRL. and it just doesn't work like that.

Hoffman is probably one of, if not the worst half in the NRL (but a bloody good winger). it shouldn't be that hard to take his spot and the way for one of our lower grade halves to take is spot is by performing week in and week out at a high level in the ISC, demand to get selected.

That is the challenge for our lower grade halves, only time will tell if they're up to it. but inconsistent/mediocre form in the lower grades shouldn't be rewarded with a call up to the NRL.
