Re: Round 5 - Broncos vs Eels - Post-Game Discussion

The chances of players being dropped are none. It took Griffin 3/4's of the season before changing the side in 2013. It's not going to be any different this year.

100% Super Freak. He waited until every game was a must-win before making changes last year and there's no reason to think this year will be different. Players like Reed are safe as a bank while guys like Maranta get shafted.

Re: Round 5 - Broncos vs Eels - Post-Game Discussion

Disgusting, insipid, rudderless, directionless, pathetic.

Summed it up perfectly, Bull. All I can really add to that list is amateurish and uninspired. Disappointing effort. Did anyone catch what Griffin said in the presser? No doubt he was pretty happy with the effort.

SF - That isn't quite how it happened.

I've made this point a number of times...Hook made changes prior to the Origin season and brought Hunt into play five eigth but it was clear at that time, it wasn't going to work, especially during the rep. season where on his first assignment, the Broncos were absolutely hammered.

It wasn't until after the Origin players were available that he was able to make changes and he did.

Folks, please be mindful of keeping these Anti-Hook posts in this thread. I know sometimes they can just come up organically but help us mods out and try and make an effort.

I'll take your word for it, BP. It was a year to forget football-wise so the timeline for me is a bit hazy. Origin or not though, I think he persevered too long with some players. Corey Norman is a good example - his form took a nosedive the instant he signed with the Eels.

Believe me, I was against playing Norman at fullback right from the start, but because of poor recruitment and questionable depth, there wasn't much in the way of alternatives.

Here were the options...

Jordan Kahu - Who was having issues stringing games together and would be in one week, out the next. Not ideal when the Broncos rely on combinations with the fullback.

Josh Hoffman - Who was versatile enough to play other positions and was handling those transitions beautifully. Moving Hoffman there would mean that another player would had to have been called up. Whitchurch was even worse than Maranta in his one game that season and Drew was even more inexperienced than he was against the Dragons.

Joe Bond - Who wasn't playing good footy for the Dolphins and was never going to be considered a long term option.

Jake Granville - Please...

I'm sure hindsight has given fans the ability to say that Bond was clearly the better choice at the time but I'm happy to give the coach the benefit of the doubt on that occasion. The circumstances simply weren't ideal.

People need to ignore what coaches and captains say in post match pressers ... they are forced to be there and the majority of the time spew out cliches and PR statements ... it is far more important what the coaches say to the players in the sheds and at training and the is never publicized. this is especially true for coaches of losing teams.

Well he's not going to say, it was piss poor effort & we are going to rip them new ones.

FFS: The journalists saw the game, they know what has to be said & done etc.

The coaches & players are only there because they have to be present after the match.

Tell the journalists nothing & keep them guessing. They will make up stories anyway.

I'm watching it now ... both Griffin and Parker have said numerous times that we were poor and that Parra played really well.

he ended the presser with " we have been really good as a team for the last month, nut tonight we weren't at our best as a team"

Hook won't make changes until the season is over thus making him a bad coach and not the coach for us. Period

B4L, look us all in the metaphorical eye and tell me you expect Hook to dump poor performing players.

He's done it before, so yep I do.

Now let me clarify. I am not a griffin fan and am in the camp that we need another coach, but it needs to be the right coach (I don't subscribe to the dump griffin and sign anybody agenda).

But just because I don't like griffin doesn't mean I will say things that aren't backed up by fact just to join the growing number of people that watch the broncos in the hope to push their agenda, not to support their team

Last year he left players in the team all year that weren't performing. Look at Jack Reed this year. There's my point right there. If your in with Griffin you won't get dropped. Our if you do it will be at the back end of the season when it's almost over.
