Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

I don't think he's ignoring them out of spite, I think he's ignorant of them because he's an idiot.

I would love to stand Griffin out in front of all of us and have him list on a whiteboard what it is that Reed brings to our outside backs, what Kennedy brings to the team coming off the bench and what it is he thinks Hoffman brings to the number 6, because I would've thought it would make for interesting viewing.

No, we're not coaches, but neither is Griffin quite frankly.

Hang on a second. Do you go to and evaluate each and every training session. Are you in possession of the result of fitness, strength and training tests. Have you been a full time coach for a decade.if not ,why is it that you think you are better equipped to understand what's needed at the broncos than someone who has all that info, and experience to make informed decisions.

Take the aggro back a notch guys. Everyone is a coach on BHQ, I'm just better than the lot of yas!

For those who defend the need for an ISC half to be performing at high level to play NRL, please tell me how you think Hoffman would fare as a half in the ISC?

While the step up to the NRL is obviously a leap with everything tougher, faster, stronger, the same goes for the people around you.
Yes, it may take a while to get into the NRL rhythm, and it may even be overwhelming, but if you have the talent, the quality around you will help bring it forward!

this x 1000.
Specifically how Hoffman would perform at ISC level, I don't think he'd be a dominant 5/8 even at that level.

Good point. I mean he hasn't been dominating q cup but with the step down in class to the nrl he will probably be fine. I mean if Luke capewell can manage it strasser can too
He doesn't have to be dominating in ISC to be a better 5/8 and a better fit than Hoffman.

Let me know when you get it organized cause I will be there - Hook is a fool who - for some unexplainable reason cannot see what is wrong with the team - it could be so much better with a few minor changes and they have the guys to do it
I remember Andrew Gee telling me straight to my face last year when I met with him over selections and recruitment about midway through the season, that Hook would not change the team around as in drop Norman cause he was going to the Eels and change things around until he was told it would happen or else - and it happened - Fact

Really? Andrew gee really told you that? He decided to tell a random member of the public what the coach is doing and completely undermine both the coach and the organisation he works for...

Either you're lying or andrew gee is more of a fucking imbecile than i thought

It really depends on your measure.

Would Hoffman put in Daly Cherry Evans esque efforts in the ISC arena? Probably not, but I'd imagine his running & passing game would be A LOT more effective.

As evidenced by the fact when he was in career worst form he was an easy pick as the Man of the Match against Easts in 2012.

For those even thinking it, Hoffman would destroy at NYC level. It wouldn't even be fair.

The truth is Griffin has had the team for years yet despite this he has a very ordinary 5/8. This happened on his watch and it is not good enough to say Norman left etc etc. Norman did not perform either and most here were happy enough for him to go. We started this season without a decent 5/8, we knew and Griffin knew early last year we needed one ! The coach gets the team he wants in the NRL world. Griffin should have turned the planet upside down to find a few guys who could try out for the position and by that I mean guys who actually play either half or 5/8. Any country and any code, or any competition PNG ,Kiwi Samoan or bloody pom. Anyone ,just not someone who does not play that role.

Yes, he most probably would, but not thanks to his awesome passing and kicking game.

He is a very good runner of the ball and a handful, even at NRL level, so yeah, he would probably break the line every second ball carry...

But he was playing centre, which is why we all want him as an outside back. Dummy half picks up aside, he barely throws 5 passes a game so I don't think he would be a very good 5/8 even at ISC level.

Nup, strongly disagree.

Reed to Q Cup and Oates and Kennedy into the starting side needed to happen and it didn't. I don't expect that will change, even if we lose on friday.

Seriously if you're named on the bench and can't perform from there, how is he deserving of a spot in the starting lineup? It just makes no sense. If he's good over 60mins he should be great over twenty, and he's not. So I imagine if he started he would still be lethargic.

Before last year, you couldn't call Josh Hoffman a centre, yet despite being in the worst form of his career, Hoffman was a clear stand-out in that game and showed that even out of position, he is clearly a step above his colleagues in the ISC.

I believe there are traits that define a first grader, and that without them they simply cannot play at NRL level. For Josh Hoffman, his athleticism, skill & determination is what brings him to the proverbial dance. It's impossible to say since the argument is based purely on fantasy so really it's an irrelevant point but for the sake of entertainment, while I don't believe Josh Hoffman would be dominating the game like a Daly Cherry-Evans or JT, I'm sure those aforementioned skills would make him a clear stand out in that position and would be a touch above the other contenders.

At least at this stage.

It isn't an ideal situation but the argument is that Hoffman is the lesser of all evils and based on what I have seen, that is fair enough.

Never the less, all this probably belongs in that Hoffman thread...

well you better go read your 3 private messages

A better argument is that Hoffman in the halves is a mockery of the sport we all love.

Depends on the team but I think he'd go all right, he'd get away more with running it and not having a great passing game, coupled with the fact away from the NRL he'd try passing more and kicking.

Michael Roberts didn't have a great passing game and was a very very good ISC half.

At training. Hoffman gets the ball and doesn't look left or right, just runs at the yawning gap in the defensive line he sees in his head (which is of course not there).

Hook blows the whistle. "Josh! Stop! When you get the ball, look. Look left and right. Look who is inside, who is outside. Look at the play. Look to pass ...."

One thousand repeats of this later, Josh throws a brilliant cut out pass to an unmarked winger and .... I wake up.

Damn

So what was the dream, Hoffman passing or Griffin instructing him to?

Hook blows the whistle. "Josh! Stop! You're not fat enough or slow enough to cart the ball forward like that on my watch, head upstairs to the buffet and don't eating until I say when."

One thousand repeats of this later, Josh becomes the prototype five eighth Hook is after, and the broncos go 4 & 20 for the season.

Damn

fixed
