Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

The Lurker has some exciting news about griffin's departure... just wish it was from someone more reliable than The Lurker

NRL Premiership | The Lurker - NRL Rumour File - Monday

if that happens it will be a jizz-fest around here.

and i'm not quite sure what people will be happier about ... Griffins demise or Walters as head coach.

Personally, i'm not sure that Walters is the answer. The guy was a legend for our club, and i would love nothing more than him to succeed ... but what i absolutely hate having to sack him if he fails

I share your concerns about walters, but I'm to the stage that I just want change. Walters most likely isn't the next super coach but I am fairly confident he wouldn't have a winger that didn't pass enough for fullback in the halves long term, insist on having one of the games fastest players "bulk up" or after three years still have no fucking idea how to use an interchange bench. 3 years FFS

The Lurker is back for his first edition of the week with all the latest news and gossip.Griffin's Days Numbered

He may have ended a two-game losing streak with victory over the Titans last Friday night, but Anthony Griffin’s days at the Broncos are still numbered. The powerbrokers at the Broncos have decided Griffin is not the answer long term and after four years at the helm, he will be sent packing at the end of the year. The Broncos had given up on getting Wayne Bennett back home last month – but all that has changed in the light of Nathan Tinkler’s financial woes. Bennett told the Knights he was committed to stay at the club but with his massive wage bill now under threat, he may be tempted to go back home to Queensland. The Broncos would love to have Kevin Walters – currently Bennett’s assistant at the Knights – as head coach with Bennett in the role of football manager/mentor. The club is in the midst of a shake-up, with long term football manager and former prop Andrew Gee set to become another casualty.

Well... this is prettier than mine i guess

I don't think anybody is sold on Kevvie Walters. His past coaching history hasn't been that crash hot that is for sure.

I hope the Lurker is spot on although his prediction of Slothys demise at seasons end is a result too late coming. We need to save this season and with the on field staff we have we could still push for a top four spot. At 50/50 we are well positioned and with just a small tweak to the side we would be in the winners circle. If Walters came in and taught his style to Hunt and ( insert preference here but not Hoggman ) we would be close to perfect. My choice would be to drop Reed for a few weeks and put the damaging Mills in at centre who has been going well for Redcliffe and scoring tries.

Kevvie was an outstanding five eighth and I'm sure with his skills he could fix that area which is sorely lacking. Hannant would be first picked amongst the forwards and Kennedy would be in Intrust playing unchanged, 80 minutes a week in the frontrow until he shows he wants a first grade spot back.

Mills hasn't been close to damaging for Ipswich, he's been average at best!

I'd rather have Hoffman/Maranta on the wing with Copley as centre for Reed.

Mills has been playing for Redcliffe, I believe?

Go home... you're drunk.

Maybe he has been scoring some great tries for ipswich... not sure how the club he plays for, Redcliffe would feel about this though

Anyway, love him or hate him, the best coach for Hunt would be Johns. By far.

I would love it if Broncos found a way to lure Johns to the Broncos as the halves coach.

There is not much else he can do at Manly.

Johns working with Hunt, Lockyer working with Milford. I can see good things coming from that...

My apologies, it is in fact Redcliffe. He has been playing well for them and scoring tries. Reed has been ordinary and irrespective of others I still would prefer him there. I was aware of who he plays for but was thinking about Ipswich, my home and where I will be returning after a fortnight in the red dust of WAs mining heart. After 14 12 hour shifts it's no surprise I made that mistake.

With the Hunter Sports Group non-payments, does that mean Bennett (and Boyd) can now move immediately, without any legal consequence? Does anyone know for sure? Bennett as head of coaching and team performance, Boyd at 6, 5, or 4 - any takers?

boyd will end up in the u.k super league, the knights have a ready made relacement in jake mamo who offers far more than boyd does.

bennett is a strange one, he has unfinished business with the knights so a lot will depend on that... Also he loves the colour of money so that will be the ultimate final decision.

If Griffin gets sacked tomorrow, Kearney will get named interim/caretaker coach so the season is still lost anyway

Oh well, I know it's extremely unlikely that Slothin will be axed mid season as it's not really the Bronco way although I hold out hope that he may simply resign. Naturally that's even less likely than the first scenario as he is too pigheaded to admit any things wrong. Should a miracle happen though then even if Kearney was caretaker and fully aware that Walters was taking over the lead at seasons end ,Walters may still be able to assist in fixing the obvious mistake with Hoggman. All hypothetical of course and rhetorical.

Boyd considers himself a full back he's another one of those players that considers himself to good for the wing

What is with players thinking they are to good for a positions these days ffs
