Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

Hook had a lot to do with all the boys, Glenn, Hunt, Hoffman, Gillett, Oates, Reed. I believe we lack some attacking flair with no 6. But if we had a 6 that could play we would be killing it. Now the decision's Hook has made so far are not pleasing to say the least, but he did have a huge part in developing these guys to the footballers they are today.

now the 2 things just about every fan is cranky about below:

Hunt / 2 years bench hooker, has helped his game his defence is fantastic for a little man.
No five eight / Made Hunt get involved in every play, helped with confidence and fitness.

did we all get upset over nothing because these decisions when made, we all thought were terrible. But maybe just maybe its helped us a little develop Hunt. Even I bagged out the choice to do so and called for griffin to be fired. We have to admit its Hook who has got Hunt to were he is today and Yes we could say the opposite. That having him as a bench hooker slowed his development up (Attack) and it may off but his defence is dramatically better because of it.

I think Hook is a good man manager like Bennett but he needs a Hagan, Henry or a Walters to assist and setup some attacking structure. I want to see him stay as coach but with better assistants around him.

Positioning-wise, no. But just making the little bugger tackle and tackle and tackle means when big forwards get one-on-one with him on our line, he is well up to the task.

I don't see what all the hype is about Kevin Walters ... sure he has been a great player for the Broncos, but that doesn't mean he will be a great coach, just look at Voss and the Lions.

but what has he done in his coaching career that says he will be able to lead us to a premiership.

There have been many clubs that have sacked coaches since he returned to Australia ... but none of them have picked up Kevvie.

Thats the same bloody argument people use with Hoffman and essentially what people are saying is ... It doesn't matter how good someone is as long as their name isn't Griffin/Hoffman

so b4l you'd be happy if we hired Steve Price as our new head coach, thats someone other than Griffin, and he is looking for a job since the Dragons sacked him.

I want Griffin gone too, but it needs to be for the right coach, not just any coach. I think it would be a huge mistake to get Bennett back as head coach, and i'm not sold on Walters.

I would be happy for Bennett to come back as a director of football, scouting manager, recruitment officer ... just not as head coach

well i know you would be over the moon if we fired Griffin and hired Steve Price, because we would no longer have Griffin coaching us, even if Price is actually a worse coach than Griffin ...

but as much as i don't want Griffin to be our coach anymore, i would rather the club signs the right coach to take us forward, not just the first coach available.

With Benny off contract and the Broncos clearly with a need, I would be devastated if we miss out on bringing him home

What role he plays I am happy to let be decided by someone else, many here have said the head coach role isn't the best fit, and I can see why

But I think he would bring a professionalism back to the club that is needed

I wouldn't take Walters as coach he had a poor record over in Super League and NRL is a step up from Super League and the only time I've seen him coach a team (Queensland under 20's) that team was a complete rabble and got flogged.

He has served as an assistant with Bellamy but I feel he has a lot of work to do if he is going to be a top grade coach in Australian Rugby League.

Before people start winging about Boyd, he's a great finisher, and if we can somehow lose the contracts of Hoffman and Reed we'll have enough money to sign him with plenty left over.
