Before people start winging about Boyd, he's a great finisher, and if we can somehow lose the contracts of Hoffman and Reed we'll have enough money to sign him with plenty left over.
Boyd is on of those players like Hoffman, that'll only want to play fullback. in fact a couple of months back, when there was talk of him leaving the Knights due to TPA issues, his manager came out and said he is either a fullback or 6. do we really want another player like Hoffman in our ranks, that find playing wing (except in rep games) beneath them.
on Walters, apart from him being a club great, i don't see what the fuss is about, and why so many people on here appear desperate for him to coach us. Great players don't necessarily make great coaches. just take a look at Fittler at the Roosters, or Michael Voss at the Brisbane Lions.
Valid points, I think if Boyd was given the option of staying at the Knights under a new coach, reasonably poor roster.. but he gets to remain at fullback (or) come to Brisbane with an above average roster, Bennett on the coaching board, but he has to play wing.. I think he'd choose us, he'd figure out that we're more likely to win a championship in the short period that he has left in his career.
Agreed...but how do we know Barba would remain at fullback? I know it's all very much hypotheticals at this point with Bennett returning with Boyd etc but Barba's form has been average. I think Boyd would offer more at fullback. I wouldn't be against him returning to Brisbane to be the number 1.

Yeah I'd still much prefer Barba at fullback than Boyd, he's much younger and has a higher ceiling, just need some better structure and playmakers in the team.
just read vidot wants to lose weight to gain speed but griffin said no way as he prefers big bodies for more "punch". what is this guys obsession with bulk?

Brisbane Broncos winger Daniel Vidot makes more ground than metre-eater Paul Gallen
DANIEL Vidot wants to drop a few kilograms but his Brisbane Broncos coach Anthony Griffin loves the winger just the way he is.
And why would the Broncos want to change when they are onto a good thing?
Vidot is one of the competition’s most prolific metre-eaters, earning his sixth-placed side more ground than Souths colossus Sam Burgess and Sharks wrecking ball Paul Gallen.
Only Josh Mansour (176m), whose Penrith Panthers host the Broncos on Monday night, averages more run metres per game than Vidot, who has been contributing 169m an outing in his first season at Red Hill.
“That’s his strength. He’s a big, strong boy,” Griffin said.
Taking hit-ups are traditionally not the role of a winger.
Remember, Vidot plays a position filled in past generations by flyers Kerry Boustead and Dale Shearer. Times, and body shapes have changed.
Wingers and centres now make as many runs as front-rowers, using their pace and strength to give the forwards a break.
Vidot is 188cm and 105kg of line-bending Samoan-grown muscle, and he often chews up the territory no one else wants.
It is the runs off his own tryline, often two in a set, that Vidot rips into for Brisbane and is happy to keep doing it.
“I love that stuff. I love the contact,” he said.
He does want to add value to his performances by growing his season try tally which stands at three. To do so, Vidot plans to trim down.
“Maybe I could lose a few more kilos,” he said. “I’d like to get my speed back to what it was when I was younger.”
Griffin does not see the need.
“It’s probably a bit late in the year to be doing that now,” the coach said.
“We were hoping with his size, he’d give us some punch out there and that’s what he’s done.”
